That was Sonic. Everytime he is launched from those speed ramps he shouts "Yeah!". The footage had the japanese voice audio though, Jason Griffith's sounds less odd.

I cant help but shudder after hearing Jason in Riders.. "All right now we're talkin'" -shudders- maybe its just me but he sounds so .. fake and forced like someone has him at gunpoint with the script in really small print... oh and Toby.. long time no see... and about the comment with the archie sega thing... its not likely, but them using a red sonic and using the title for the transformation "Wild Fire Sonic" may be a little more possible.
Very interesting on the multiplayer side. Sounds like we have an improved "Sonic Shuffle".

Heh, what I find funny is that several sites are confused on the release. Sites like Best Buy and FYE give the date as 2/21 while sites like Target and Circuit City give is as 3/1. Meanwhile, Gamestop and EBGames still says it will come out on the 27th, Kmart/Toy'R'Us refuse to acknowledge it exists, Wal-Mart the 20, and Sega and Nintendo gives it as Spring 2007 and Q1 07 respectively. I wish a universal date would be settled on.
Anywho, has anyone seen the guidebook yet? I think it looks cool; I just hope it actually feels like leather and not just a plastic feel per usual.

But you know, as much as I would love to go on about how cool the song is, I think we're all missing something here.
Since Sonic Adventure, the series has taken a different direction. No longer were the worlds Sonic explored colorful, no longer were the enemies Sonic faced original designs, instead they were more cold metallic robots you would often see in most japanese animation. The games themselves have taken a much more "mature" and darker tone in an attempt to be more serious series. And most importantly, Sonic's attitude was gone.
But go ahead and watch the video again. Pay attention to when you get to the 11 second mark on it. The massive log comes down and breaks the bridge Sonic was on. Instead of falling to his death, what does he do? He freaking twirls in the air, goes AFTER the log, and uses the remains of the bridge as a surfboard to get through the rampaging river.
If that isn't awesome then I don't know what is, Maybe using a dinosaur's tail as a way to thrust forward into the air is.
But guys, seriously.
The colorful enviroments are back.

THIS is Sonic's return to roots. Style and speed is emphasised in this journey, two of the things that made Sonic an equal rival to Mario back when I was a kid in the Sega vs. Nintendo War on the playground in school, and the guitar that kicks in at the end of the trailer just gets this message alot clearer.
The plot may be odd, but who freaking cares honestly? Sonic 06 fans? HA! They don't know what made the hedgehog cool if they appreciate that thing Sega tried to pass off as a game. And Secret Ring's concept may be simple, but the original games were always simple to begin with. You run and you jump, and if you're good enough you could do both with quick reaction time to obstacles ahead of you to destroy, or jump, roll, or bounce with great accuracy to gain even more speed.

I never played anything more than a demo of sth 06' the only thing that i liked was the cliche' sound that was made after he launched himself off the spring boards... but yes that is just me and my ways of being easily amused.. this is what Blue needs to get him running to full speed folks.. now if we can only continue to force sega to just make Sonic for nintendo and nintendo only...I now must check out books!(im using my School's library's main computer and small children are angry... but yeah) hurray!! -gets mauled by eager children who want the last installment of Lemony Snicketts series of unfortunate events-

Nice, Shigamado. That's a handy collection of information there. Just a little heads-up on the turbo thing - I believe that the colors are muted when the 'slow down time' function is activated. Everything just blurs and the orange streaks appear during the turbo dash thing.

Story mode? If they're in story mode they'll be in costume and everything. I figured they'd be in the story before they were revealed for multiplayer.
Damn. This could be the best Sonic game ever and IGN will still give it a 5/10 because Shadow's in it. 😛

Not so much "not expecting" as much as the release date was getting closer and Shadow had not been mentioned in the game. So, there was still hope.
I don't know. I was kinda expecting it really. I was expecting perhaps the whole Sonic cast being involved in the game.
But then the whole Shadow guaranteed not to be in this game from the magazine a while back got the hopes up. No big deal really. Shadow is playable in multiplayer. Thats all. Oh well. Wasn't expecting Cream for some reason though.

When will SEGA realize that they don't need to add a million dopey characters to every game? They certainly don't make it more interesting.
I really don't see the problem as long as we aren't forced to play as them in the single player game. Multiplayer is nothing at all, it makes sense to add them if for nothing more than a little variety. But as long as single player is only Sonic, then we are good to go!

1. I did not know Shadow was going to be in this game until a few days ago, so I didn't act like the game would be a hit with or without him.

So far we've been given no indication that you will be able to play as any of the characters during the main game. As far as we know the main adventure is "JUST SONIC." The other characters will probably just be there during cutscenes...Which makes sense because it's hard to tell a story with only one character. In a video game format, anyway.
The multiplayer characters have to be there otherwise all four people would just have to play as Sonic. In Shadow the Hedgehog's multiplayer you could only play as Shadow or one of the Shadow Androids...And that was pretty lame.
