Friend or foe? If it's like every other Sonic game, it'll be a foe then turn a friend and then subsequently appear in every Sonic game after that for no good reason. It happened pretty quickly with Silver, and he's only been around for a year now... and does anybody like him? No.
The design is actually pretty average otherwise, you can't fool me with those fancy boots and glowing eyes lady!

Hey, I like Silver . He cool.
Anyway about Shade. She looks interesting. Wonder if she will become playable at some point?
Nice interview. Those nice folks over at Bioware fill me with hope.
And some other emotions that are weird and deeply confusing.
Hey, no worries. They could always just kill off the new character in the ending. It worked with Shadow, right?
Yeah, except for the whole coming back randomly in Sonic Heroes thing. But seriously, this chunk of news has given me a fangasm.
I'm impressed, especially with the artwork. I had faith that BioWare would manage to create something worthwhile, but I was expecting them to use the same style as Sonic Rush, glad to see it's more like Battle mixed with Secret Rings.
I'm not convinced that it will work yet though, Sonic + JRPG elements still feels like a bad idea, even when done by BioWare...though that makes the JRPG elements feel odd...what with them being Canada based.
the Lightworld Darkworld bit is a Nintendo staple. So I'm for it. Yes its over done but....
The name is Sonic Chronicles. That hints to me that...at least if the game sells well. There will be more of them.
And I actually like Silver more than Shadow. Not that anyone cares. But if his personality could just be tweaked a bit. I like the naive young heroic wannabe marching doggedly onward. Totally lacking the 'coolness' factor but still adorable. Unfortunately with Blaze gone he's lost his foil. And alone Silver is hyper annoying.

But...I like Silver. I think he's pretty cool.

lol, Futurama reference, ftw. Anywho, according to one of the posters at the SSMB link, the article said it is supposed to tie up some of the loose ends to the Sonicverse; here's hoping that this means the whole conundrum of Siver/Blaze/Nega/Marine being cleared up.
this looks interesting, so say the least. I kinda regret turning in my DS lite to gamestop 3 months ago XD. This shade character looks kinda reptillian.. notice on the NP cover how her eyes are glowing as well as her nostrils.. the slender body and long tail make me think of a lizard of some sort or maybe an alien altogether but not a ram. oh! and to deckman92, id be careful about referring an iron maiden soundtrack to a sonic game because there are some uber paranoid parents out their that will protect their kids from harmless songs with no lyrics. trust me ive already referred non satanic songs for sonic and just got insulted and kicked in the ribs with steel toed boots XD
Holy Thanksgiving tryptophan overdose, that sounds good! Eggman a creditable villain again?
HECK YEAH!
I'm thinking that would be...hard to do. Or at least challenging.
Quote:
-Bits of story - Sonic's on vacation from defeating Eggman 2 years ago. Gets a call from Tails that Knuckles has been kidnapped by a group called the Marauders, and that 6 chaos emeralds are missing. Eggman not the main villain. But Bioware wants to make him a creditable bad guy again. Something about a "twist" between Eggman and Sonic that goes back to the earlier games.
Wait....
Does this mean the characters ... *GASP* ... age?
XDXD! TTG So I've missed some stuff. Wow...this does sound interesting. Completely different from any other thing so far. Should be some good stuff.
Big must have a cult following. I didn't realise he was actually playable. What is it about him that makes him popular? What is his secret?
Really I want Omega to be playable to. But thats probably a stretch.
It's because he's a big cuddly cat!
It's because Big is smarter than the majority of the fandom and they all worship him as a God for it.

Personally, I'd rather see Gamma (or Chaos Gamma) return. I'm honestly tired of Omega.
Whats the difference? They're both robots with basically the same personality but different body style.
Omega has more motivation, he wants to prove he's the best Eggman robot by destroying all the others and killing Eggman. Big is just... there.
I like Omega, he is our future saviour who will defeat Shadow according to Sonic '06, how can you not like that?

Sonic '06 time paradoxed itself out of existence, though.
Well the "true" Gamma died way back in SA1. To create another Gamma is a whole new Gamma.(explaining Chaos Gamma who dies too, right?) And without the flicky bird inside to cause conflict (or emerald shards) it would be just another generic Robot. So Omega might as well stay. As shaky as it is at least Omega has some kind of track record. I'd rather he continue exsisting than to be replaced by a new robot. And then a new robot after that robot, and so on and so forth.
They should just bring back Gemerl if there's going to be a robot character.
Gemerl was cool. He'd be a cool character to bring back...but I'd hate to see it infected by the 'story line' of the Sonic games.
This all sounds AWESOME!
If I may defend myself, I preferred the original Gamma AKA Mr Logic and precision aiming instead of Omega AKA Mr Insaney Mc Obsessive-Revengealot who wants to blow everything up. The whole schtick is kind of getting tired. He was okay as a one-off character, but he's just not as complex a character as Gamma was. Omega's just so one-dimensional. "RAAR! I HATE EGGMAN! I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE! RAAR!" as he randomly blows up everything in his path- and several things off to the side, too, just for kicks.
But yeah, I admit it- Gamma isn't returning. Though, given the choice- and with the knowledge that it's not happening anyways- I'm just saying I'd MUCH rather see Gamma return than Omega.
Anyways, I can't WAIT to see more information on this title! This is really shaping up to be one of the ones to look forward to, yessiree!
Maybe Gamma could come back in the next game...But it turns out he has amnesia! And he might be a clone of the original; or an android recreation. Or maybe he was built by aleins? There could be multiple endings.
Or he could simply be one extra unlockable that has no impact on the story whatsoever like Shadow should have been. 😛
I guess Erika's idea is the most plausible. If they are going to dump in more characters who have nothing to do with the plot (as is the Sonic Team way) then just make them unlockable extras. Or cute minor cameos. Like make Silver or Blaze a shop keeper who sells you items or something.
....
I haven't played a Sonic game since Sonic Heroes and the first thought upon hearing a Sonic RPG was reluctance...then I heard Big the Cat was gonna be playable.
All logic I had in my brain has thus since left and now I am joygasming at the thought of this.
Probably just a placeholder.
I hope that's a placeholder.
Yeah, I hope and say it is as well because if it's not then the logo's not very eye-catching is it.
Bioware're preparing for the launch of the Sonic Chronicles web site. Sign up for updates and their Sonic Chronicles newsletter at the end of that link.
Well, this sucks. It says my email address is invalid every time I try to sign up to receive updates and newsletters about the game. I know my email address by HEART, dangit! And just in case I made a mistake, I TRIPLE-CHECKED. It's valid, all right- has been for HOW many years now? *shakes fist at Bioware* .
EDIT: Okay, This is just PERFECT. I tried it one last time, and now it worked. Is the site being screwy or something?!?
*shrugs*
It worked first time for me.
Won't need to sign up so long as I have you guys to keep me in the loop.
I saw and signed up for this already the other day.
Nice interview.

IGN: What kinds of locales will gamers recognize from the Sonic series?
Mark Darrah To name a few: Green Hill Zone, Central City, Mystic Ruins and the Blue Ridge Zone.
I don't remember any Blue Ridge Zone. Must be a new stage.
I know it's iconic and all but I'm starting to get rather sick of Green Hill getting pimped out every time a game wants to revisit "classic Sonic levels." There's over thirty other zones they could reference that people would still want to see.
Wasn't Central City from the Shadow game?
Yeah, and I think there was a Central City, or something similar in name, in Sonic Battle as well. I never heard of Blue Ridge Zone either, but I figured it was from one of the GG Sonics.
Quote:
Blue Ridge Zone
IGN is a complete hax. I checked every Sonic game's Zones, from the obscure GG to the new '06 and Rivals and it doesn't exist. :-O
How is that nostalgic at all?
Although, I almost misread that as Hidden Palace for some reason. It's obviously a typo of sorts. Hill Top comes to mind easily.
Seeing screens of two particular locations again (Tails' lab and the dilapidated base) reminds me of something I forgot to mention when we got the first screens:
1) Tails' Lab: Seeing as we're apparently returning to the Mystic Ruins and Battle's Emerald Town, could this be the interior of Tails' Mystic Ruins workshop (the part you cannot enter) or his giant head-shaped house in Emerald Town? The color scheme doesn't quite match the exterior of either, but it'd be cool if it were inside one of those.
2) Dilapidated base: I love those (oddly tall) Prison Eggs left forgotten sitting around here. It really gives a feeling that Eggman has been 'gone' for some time.
You can enter Tails' workshop in Sonic Adventure.
Quote:
Wasn't Central City from the Shadow game?
Quite possibly (haven't played it) but the city first appeared in Sonic Adventure 2 I believe.
Though it was only referred to as "the capital city" in that game. Since it's where you meet the President, meaning there's a government body there, it can be inferred to be Central City.
Quote:

Only the garage part. You cannot get inside the part with windows (behind the pond with the turbine) nor the upstairs part (despite it having a door up there). It's this unaccessable part I thought it was possible the Chronicles screenshot may be portraying.
Ah okay, fair enough.
I was struk by an idea earlier today:
CHILI DOG: Restores 100 HP. (1 ally.)
