Adamis is French? Oh, yeah, I remember now!
They don't really say anything specific to Sonic or the game. He's just talking about game development in general terms.
You're not missing anything terribly exciting.
Unlike Unleashed, Chronicles was playable. Here the Kotaku hands on and IGN hands on.
Oh Gamespot has some more screenshots.
Odd how they managed to squeeze in Rouge as a playable character but now Shadow. Not that it bothers me but usually when you spot a Rouge there's a Shadow not too far behind.
I personally think that Blaze would have made a good character simply because she can use pyrokenesis.
Are you kidding? It's been known for awhile that Shadow is playable in this game; as a matter of fact, Shadow is in one of the screenshots where Rouge is on top of a building looking down on him, probably right before he joins the party.
Since our playthrough was taken directly from a saved file that started in the Mystic Ruins of Ch. 2: The Search for Knuckles, we only had a chance to try a few little puzzles, get in a couple fights, and then move on. We'll have to sit down with the full version at a later date to get the feeling for the game's story and character development, but as a quick update to how the game is doing, today's hands-on was short, but sweet.
As a few final notes, the game has its charming aspects, such as classic SEGA sound effects and well done 2D level backdrops, but the overall gameplay could still use some serious work. Battles are extremely repetitive, in-level puzzling is as basic as can be, and so far we haven't seen anything that really pushes the RPG genre at all on DS, which we certainly expect from a company like Bioware. We'll have to sit down and get comfy with the final version before making any further comments, but as it stands right now the game could use a bit of a kick in the pants, as it literally moves and plays like any other generic RPG out there, this time adding in the Sonic characters overtop for some quick licensed satisfaction.
From IGN. The impression sounds pretty disappointing. Generic easy-arse RPG with Sonic license slapped-on? DO NOT WANT. =/

*sigh* As always you only seem to focuse on the negative.
Here are two more positives previews from Sega Nerds and Gamespy.
Yep, those are deifinitely more positive. The combo attack with Amy and Sonic sounds like a combo attack that can be performed on Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga.
I can live with a Command Mission. I'm not expecting a reinvention of the JRPG genre.
^Well, I expected more from the so-called AAA RPG-makers that are Bioware for this property just like Intelligent Systems did with the Paper Mario series. And Shadonic, this build has been getting mixed impressions--especially when mentioning the battle system which I'm concerned about when dealing with RPGs. This is the only Sonic title that is being released this year that I'm cautiously optimistic about. I would like this to be good. But if it ends up being just an average game(or Bioware's first mediocre game) that only appeals to kids/die-hard Sonic fanatics I would wait until its discounted to pick it up or just pass on it. =/
Really? Shadow is in this? I didn't even realise. oopsies.
Meh. Its an RPG. RPG's are RPG's You don't change RPG's or then they will no longer be RPG's o.o........or something. I will say that the battle system needs to be faster. A mix of Space Channel 5 and that Elite Beat Agent game. Space Channel 5 in terms of quickness and simple simon says gameplay. and Elite Beat for its style and speed and cool use of the stylus to pull off moves. They could translate it into attacks.
Kotaku has a positive preview. IGN tends to be more negative. I find Bozon to be a real jackass.
^Just because of one negative preview? Really?
No, I've been watching his reports and listenting to him on Nintendo Voice chat. For someone how reviews games on the Wii system, he tends to come across as a Wii hater. Plus his review of Target Terror just confuses others. He calls it horrible and awesome at the same time, and not in the Godzilla movie vein of "So bad, it's good." He gave it a 3.5, but acts like he loved it.
Has a question? Ask Bioware yourself ! Maybe there'll be a slight chance they'll answer it in the future!
(also lol wut $69.95)
And seriously. Am I missing something? Why hasn't there been any actual gameplay video footage yet?
omg 777 did I hit the jackpot? *coins fall out of slot machines* Wheee I'm Rich! Wheee I'm....wait...*they're just power rings* aaaaaawww!
I thought that question thing was from the official BioWare site but it's from the the Aussie EBGame site, and I seriously doubt that the price is correct as they list the release date as 4/9/08 and we all know that ain't true. Also, I just now thought that since this is an Aussie site are you sure that's not 65 Aussie dollars? (I have no idea what the exchange rate is between US and Aussie dollars are anyway.)
If that is from the Australian EB website, $70 is standard for most new DS games, so it'll probably be the regular price in America too.
That 3D world bit was quite sexy. Then GIANT 2D Sonic appeared, which kinda ruined it I thought.
I don't know what to think at the moment. The trailer looked very cool, but its kinda hard to see what was game footage (other than the last bit) or trailer gloss.

Yeah, it is the Aussie site as the site is ebgames.com.au which I'm pretty sure stands for Austrlia.
As far as the video goes, I think the battle scene definitely looks a lot better there then what it does in the screenshots, and I for one think it looks cool! Also, found this on GameFAQs posted by Clownboss which isn't really much but it does mention Angel Island as a stage.
Awesome trailer. The gameplay looks great in motion.
I can't be the only one sick of trailers for various stuff that mostly consists of faux animation, static pictures that are rotated or enlarged but pretty much nothing else.
I mean jeaz, either go for a simple animated style, or whole hog beutifully rendered still pictures, or even, dare I say it, a nice animated style. Don't just waggle the heads like the world is made of plastic and springs. I looks crap, and hasn't been in style since Zap! did it back in... 1066.
The Trailer looks like they were trying to do the Comic Book thing like Ultimate Spiderman. But It kind of falls short. The lines aren't convencing enough.
"Knuckles can climb ladders"
I don't know how much credit I can give to these guys... I mean, Christ, they still think Sonic games take place on Mobius, seven years after the fact.
Heh. I remember a long time ago asking if Omega was playable. Seems I got my answer.

I tend to use their site a lot for news, mainly for the nostalgia of their old magazine which just last month came back into production after a few years off the shelves. However, I like to call the 'last place to know' due to how late their news can be, they're also not great at research and seem rather childish mostly...
So yeah, I'd wait for someone you trust more. 😛
I think the game will look a lot better when they release more information about it.
Bioware Q&A. It explain how they are doing with the game, how many people it takes to make it and their interest in making games for the Nintendo Wii and PSP.
BioWare actually did MDK 2
man that was long time ago
good times, good times
Nice preview. Makes want the game even more. Here another preview from N-Europe.
In the opening section of the game, we played as Sonic, Amy, Tails and Rouge, with other favourites such as Knuckles, Shadow, E123-Omega, Big the Cat and Dexter (Amy's new boyfriend) also set to be controllable later in the game.
Dexter is real and playable??? Talk about a plot twist.
All I really have is regarding the price, and that's 29.99; someone came into work today and pre-ordered a copy, which I did as well.
Swatbots in Sonic Chronicles, huh? That's an unexpected but appreciated surprise. I wonder if there'll be any other incorporation from Sonic mediums, or if that's it?

Well in the Gamasutra Q&A that I posted above, project lead Mark Darrah mention:
MD: The interesting thing is that Sonic, when you start digging into the IP, is an immensely well-developed IP. There are comics, there are cartoons, and there is all this back-history that's been laid out. So there was an amazing amount for us to draw upon, and refer to, and pay homage to as we made the story.
So yeah.
That would be awesome if they have little winks and nods to all the different continuities. Just little touches like, say, Rotor or Johnny Lightfoot owning stores in one of the towns; or Scratch, Grounder, & Coconuts being enemies occassionally.
ETA: According to Ian Flynn (writer for the comic) Dexter isn't playable. Probably gonna side with him on this one since from what I understand he's knee-deep in a SC adaptation at the moment.
I'm wondering two things.
One - are those confirmed as Swatbots? Because I took another look at the artwork of the big guy and I can see how he could be mistaken for a Swatbot as a tiny jagged model on a DS screen. They're both black and robotic, and the head shape is very similar. On the DS screen, the blue core of the enemy isn't that obvious. Take a look at this screen - is this what they're saying is a Swatbot? I think it's just the juggernaut dude in that artwork.
Two - regardless of whether there are or aren't Swatbots in the game, do Bioware think that the games, comics, cartoons, etc are canonical in regards to each other, or do they understand this is not the case, and are just drawing inspiration from non-game stuff? It could be used to flesh out the characters - Sonic's a bit more attitudey in the cartoons than the games, for instance. I'm assuming it's the latter for now, and we won't be seeing Snively, Manic or Finitevus show up in Chronicles 😛
In regards to Dexter... I dunno, ever since I saw that dialogue screen I've felt like it's just some deception to make Sonic jealous. Like... I'm not even sure Dexter is alive. Maybe he's a Robot In Disguise. Because really, what sentient being would go out with Amy by choice? :lol
Yeah, I believe there are Swatbots. John Taylor linked to an article last page and in one of the pics in the article something looks like a Swatbot; I even asked it was one and nobody answered.
Imagine a game along the lines of Paper Mario, add a touch more free-roaming, and you're beginning to have the title's style pinned down.
This quote from N Europe makes me happy; as I love the Paper Mario series and if this game is anything like it, it will be great.
Finally, Sega's released a new site which is kinda like a mini-game at the same time it's an info site and even shows some in level gameplay too, and I must say it looks very nice in motion.!
Rayzor: Do you mean the robot in the lower-right screen in that scan (the one with the giant dilapidated prison egg things in the background)? I don't know, it looks pretty chunky for a Swatbot - the shoulders in particular are very wide. It actually resmebles a Shadowbot more in that respect. Take another look and compare - Swatbots are quite lean.
Thanks for the link! The spines on the characters behind Shade (in the screen you get when you click his 'bio') look very echidna like. One of the silhouetted enemy characters resembles Emerl a bit, too.
EDIT: Panic Puppet (Saturn version) BGM ahoy
Wow, what an awesome website. I wonder what happens once you collect 45 rings?
Edit- just collected the 45 rings. You get a wallpaper.
Holy crap. That site features remixed Sega Saturn Panic Puppet Zone music. AWESOME.
And I thought I saw Gemerl in the hidden character silhouettes.
EDIT: And I should've read CyberKnux's post completely so I didn't basically repeat him, lol.
And the tradition of Sonic fans going to surprisingly easy lengths to "hack" the official website of the game, continues. And continues spectacularly. Apparently this is all from people at the Sonic Stadium. Via a post from the STCO boards:
GREAT SCOTT! THERE'S A LOT OF NEW INFO!
First of all, people at the Sonic Stadium figured out who most of the character silhouettes on the site are.
The only one they don't know is the "Centipede". And the "---"; guy was really just named "---". Hm.
Now for the big stuff found on the site's .xml file.
THE STORY SO FAR:
ABOUT SONIC CHRONICLESNOT SO LONG AGO...
Sonic and his team defeat Eggman in his latest scheme. In a dramatic battle, Sonic, his friends, and G.U.N. launch a preemptive strike against Eggman as he prepares to launch a new Egg Carrier from his base city Metropolis. The Carrier crashes with Eggman aboard, and Metropolis is crippled by series of resulting explosions. Eggman's machines of war are defeated, his city is in flames, and he is lost, presumed dead.AND IN THE PRESENT...
A time of peace and tranquility has passed since Eggman's defeat. There is no sign of him, and Metropolis remains abandoned and lifeless. In the absence of the chaos and discord he has brought in the past, the world has grown beautiful and prosperous.
Sonic and his friends have taken a break from being heroes, and gone separate ways to explore and relax. Sonic has spent almost a year exploring the most remote corners of the world, while Tails and Knuckles have spent time exploring and mapping the Mystic Ruins. Life is tranquil...
Until one day, during his travels, Sonic is contacted by Tails on an emergency band. Tails informs him that trouble has emerged in Central City, and Knuckles needs help - and thus begins the next great adventure in the saga of Sonic.

Chaos
>.>
The plural form for Chao is just Chao. Adding an 's' changes the meaning of the word entirely.
Other than that, I am quite pleased with what we got here. Emerl, seriously? I could almost cry.
The website was awesome as well with the whole stylus moving Sonic to the other characters for the information. 😮
The story seems similar to that of Endgame imo. o.o
Awesome!
The story seems similar to that of Endgame imo. o.o
So Sonic betrays the love of his life only to find out that it was all a set-up and gets thrown in jail and then escapes by flying on a dragon by escaping an angry Skunk all in an effort to clear his name and destroy Robotnik once and for all?
Yeah, that sounds like it, i'm sure of it.
The stylus are awesome, though. Too bad I only have the old style DS so the new ones don't fit in the portable stylus holder. And i'm still not sure if I want to buy the game yet either.
