Lol... tell yo momma that the b**** needs go to tha sto' and bring back a genesiss.
HAHAH That's hilarious. Damned good there.
Yeah this looks too weird, Im going back to Sonic 4 >>
I still think that one of them looks like a Shuppet that grew arms.
IDK they're gonna f*** this up somehow
That's the spirit!
Well we all know its true.
The game looks like it has promise...Between this & Sonic 4...2010 may be the best year for sonic in quite some time. I cautiously look foward to upcoming sonci games...and will most likely get this for both the wii & DS if its good.
(which reminds me..I haven't played my DS in about a year...I wonder what ever happened to it???)
Nintendo Power scans are out. Looks like classic Badnik like Orbinaut and Eggpawns will appear in the game.
Eh. I'm thinking, that isn't it like, every year that a new Sonic game gets announced and we all have that same thought running through our heads. "OH it'll be fine. This is when Sonic finally redeems himself." I mean, look at what us Sonic fans did with Secret Rings! "Its just Sonic by himself. OH THIS GAME WILL BE SONICS AWSUM TRIUMPHANT RETURNN!" And what happened?
We're just gearing up for the same cycle all over again. This has happened with everything. When theres such a trend of SEGA getting our hopes up and letting us down, "cautiously optimistic" isn't an option for me. Because no matter what I'm still gonna have my hopes raised and dropped down. It's best that I just realize what's gonna end up happening and keep my hopes DOWN so I don't CARE when Sonic Colors crashes and burns.
^ That's why I've cut the cord, so to speak, from Sega.
Of course, I haven't bought any console past the Game Cube, PS1, and GBA.
Why does every game even have to have the possibility of 'Oh my goodness, maybe THIS is the return of Sonic!' anyways? Why does it really matter if Sonic enjoys the popularity the series had back in the 90's? Can't we just hope for a good game and be satisfied with that?
Can't we just hope for a good game and be satisfied with that?
I agree, tigger. I think the problem is that most people have to be extremists one way or the other. I'm not saying that every Sonic fan is going with "this will be super awesome," or "this will be the worst game ever!" but those are the opinions that stand out rather than people like myself who are just going to wait and see how the game does.
Why does it really matter if Sonic enjoys the popularity the series had back in the 90's?
I think a tiny part of me wishes he could enjoy this again, because Mario is still just as relevant of a game character as he was back then. I kinda wish Sonic could keep up with that, but I'm learning that was a decade ago.
With that in mind, I'm more excited about the rumors flying around Sonic Adventure appearing on XBLA than I am about this game. ^_^
Well, it looks pretty enough. I am willing to forgive the developers for inserting rail-grinding yet again if they have made sufficient modifications to the physics engine to accommodate the platforming they are attempting to implement. If they can do that and deliver a soundtrack on par with Unleashed's, I'm sold.
I honestly couldn't care less whether or not this game or Sonic 4 herald a return to the classic Sonic. I just want Sonic to be seen as a legitimate franchise again, not like the virtual laughingstock that it's become.
What Kayla said! I've come to the realization that Sonic will never be like he once was. So i'm not going to live on this false hope, but if Sonic could still be respected and adored...instead of the butt of so many video game jokes...then i'd be truly pleased.
It just hurts so much to see a franchise that you grew up with, that was practically your gateway to the video game fandom, have such a terrible fall from grace.
If these games do nothing beyond bringing the frachise some desperately needed respect, I'll consider them successes.
I dont think Sonic will ever regain the momentum it used to have. We all know who to blame, and thats Sega, but what do they care? They can still make OK money on the 12 year olds that play it because "its so fast you cant even seeee where your going" which by my standards, doesnt make a good game. Sometimes I wish Sonic 3D games could be similar to Super Mario Galaxy, and since Sonic X-Treme was headed in that direction, im even more sad about its cancelation now then I was when it WAS canceled. ...yeh.
"I think a tiny part of me wishes he could enjoy this again, because Mario is still just as relevant of a game character as he was back then"
that's cause mario never tried to change his original gameplay or style or appearance, mario games have just made use of newer technology to perfect the graphics and gameplay. where as sonic was remade redesigned and had been built in another world with different aspects ... a full transformation from what he was.
If Sonic 4 wasn't a downloadable title, do you think it could grab the attention of any older fans who had given up on the series when it changed? Do you think no? Do you think even as a downloadable title it could do this?
Well...I was thinking about the whole downloadable versus hard copy the other day. It's obviously cheaper for the company to do this...and more profitable, i'd assume considering no outside publisher is really needed. In this day and age though...hard copy vs. downloadable should make no difference. The only way it could, would be people's opinions on said games. Downloadable games at first were just small little mini-game thingys...but now...full fledged games are downloadable, so if anyone thinks this game is going to be any less "Sonic" because it doesn't come with a disc is sadly mistaken.
Also Kayla...you are telling me. It's so tough to look at where Sonic has gone sometimes. In this case...living in the past is the thing to do. Must say though...i'm thoroughly enjoying Sonic Unleashed. Also nice sig there Kayla. xD! How about..."May the Area times Stress be with you."

Hmm very true. I guess I never thought of that. SA was the big change, and it was a good change at the time aesthetically, but the game had too much gameplay variation for one game, IMO.

I think if done correctly Sonic 4 could initiate a recharging of the series as a download-only title, but not as a full game. There would be so much more pressure on Sega if they decided to created a full/tangible/retail sequel, and it would just give the "Sonic Cycle" more fuel (which I'm honestly surprised that the jpg of the cycle hasn't made it's way to this topic yet, heh). For example: Megaman 10 and Street Fighter 4 both brought life back to some classic series. Arguably, these games made no drastic changes to some great gameplay formulas, and instead simply added to, or "updated" the games in ways to make them relevant. Megaman 10 had plenty of add-ons with achievements, different gamemodes, while Street Fighter got a graphic overhaul and added new fighting styles.
I think that Sonic 4 could definitely recharge the original Sonic series if done properly by Sega.... or they could just hand it over to Capcom
And now to make this post relevant to the topic: Sonic Colors is as relevant to Sonic game canon as the Mario Party games were to Mario canon. Isn't Colors part of the "storybook series" anyway?

Either I'm a noob or they have hidden it well, but I can't figure out how to delete my double-post.
My apologies.

The team for the Wii version of Colours is the storybook series division of Sonic Team. However, it isn't a part of the storybook series. Furthermore, I believe the project as a whole is being overseen by Takashi Iizuka.

Don't worry about it, you can't only the mods/admins can delete your double post.
Yeah. Those things happen all the time on accident.
Ok, thanks. I don't understand why that's only a mods job, but at least I know I'm not blind now.
And thanks for the clarification, Rapidfire.
According to scans this might be a reality.
God damn you Sega. You magnificent [censored]s.
Also, graphically, Wii version looks... all right. Mind you there hasn't exactly been a terrible looking Sonic game on the Wii. Irony!
:O What are you rambling on about JT?
More proof that Sonic the Comic was so far ahead of Sega...
In the scans seen on TSSZnews it says that one of the levels looks like a certain metallic villian...
Ahh ok, I see. Well then. Hmmm...interesting.
<In the scans seen on TSSZnews it says that one of the levels looks like a certain metallic villian...>
that looks like the robot sonic in sonic2, metal sonic from sonic CD had a more original design. in all of sonic's world only [sonic, tails, knuckles, eggman, metal sonic] are genius designs the rest are roughed up copies.
even if i like amy and tikal and a lot of the other characters, i honestly think those five are the masterpiece in sonic. just like link and mario and shrek too XD i tip my hat in respect to the cleverness of their designers.
Yeah...Not to rain on Sonic the Comic's parade, but the Metallix were pretty obviously based off of Sega Sonic concepts.

Uhm, I think you have some crossed wires here. When JT's saying StC were well ahead of Sega, what he means is that one of the levels of this new game looks a bit like Metallix (or Metal Sonic to the non-Brits). Or more specifically, a floating planetoid shaped like Metal Sonic's head.
StC already did this when the Brotherhood of Metallix took over the Miracle Planet, and turned it into a giant floating Metallix head.
I don't believe he's suggesting that StC came up with the idea of Metallix all on their own, considering that Metallisx's very first appearance was in a storyline very clearly adapted from Sonic CD.

Do you mean the image JT posted? Cos if so, about the only similarity that shares with the Sonic robot in Sonic 2 is the fact it's coloured metallic grey.
Compare that image with this:
Note the similarity? ;p
SILVER!
<pull pinch silver's ear> what did i say about correcting me?!
there better be a chili dog park!
Awesome!
This is a very pretty game.
What happened in the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube years, Sega?
Sega! Stop trying to make me trust you and love you. It's breaking the rules! I know damn well I'm going to see a glitchy mine cart in a few months, I know it. It'll haunt my dreams. I'm not supposed to open my heart and know it'll be alright yeah yeah yeah, but.... it's so beautiful, and it looks like it's daytime Unleashed which is gorgeous. It looks like it'll play like Rush. It looks--- *breaks down in tears*
I want to love you, but I can't TRUST you.
I want to hear more of that song. I like it.
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa its like they looked inside my head and made it perfectly to my taste XD
i cant belive it has food! sonic, pretty animals, fun colors happiness and food ... i havent been this happy about a video game release in a long long time.
oh did anyone else feel it had a bit of sonic CD with that base attached to the planet and that song giving a rush of excitment just like sonic CD;s opening?
I thought they were nixing that mine cart, Craig.
They are! Perhaps our dear Craig didn't get the news.
The hamburger world is awesome, but Sega is missing a great opportunity to make it a chilli dog world. =p
They are! Perhaps our dear Craig didn't get the news.
More like he did, and he's not taking them at their word.
The mine cart was an analogy for the "moment of despair" portion of development, where the audience finally get to see how bad things may end up being, after the sugar coating has dried up.
It happens every time, and yet every time I wish so deeply that it wont.

Very positive preview of Colors. Among one of the comments that stick out to me was that he thought the game was inspired rather than forced.
Edit: Here's a gameplay video from the show floor! All I have to say it that I want this game now!!!
Edit 2: This is my last edit tonight, I promise, er, maybe, but here's some gameplay from the DS version too.
http://www.gametrailers.c...c-colors/101810?type=flv Gameplay by somebody who has a better grasp of the controls.
i wonder what eggman is babbling about in the background.
http://screwattack.com/vi...Sonic-Colors-Wii-1 Hands on impressions by some ScrewAttack dude.
I love how everytime he comments the game he can't ever just say its good.
It's always "its not that bad" Or "not too shabby"
http://screwattack.com/vi...ng-Country-Returns A little off note here but check out with the AVGN had to say about DK. Ultimately....absolutely nothing other than "It's kinda meh." Then waste our time by explaining really really vaguely how some gameplay elements work and then not even tell us what was so "meh" about it.
