I approve of the new voices. This is important for Sega for me to approve of the voices.
Cutscene reminds me of Ratchet and Clank. Now all we need is Sonic to use Tails as some sort of backpack to allow him to fly.
Wow so I'm not the only one who got a vauge R&C vibe off of that cutscene.
Argh, I don't like Sonic's new voice.
He sounds like some surfer dude/stoner.
I'm starting to miss Jason =,(
Smith's Sonic sounds older that previous versions. It will get take some time to get use to it though. Tails sound fine thought.
Doesn't really bother me, I've long since stopped caring about those kinds of trivialities. I'm more concerned that the game plays well.
(Throws 2 pennies down.)
I'm liking the voices. Tails is good (way better than his previous one.) Sonic sounds a bit old, but that's no problem to me. What does a 16 year-old mutated hedgehog sound like anyway? Besides, he sounded just like the other guys on that Alton clip.
I really DID throw 2 pennies down before typing this message.
For all your lightgun shooting needs and some other insanity too.

Interesting. Well Sonic does turn 20 next year might explain him sounding older.

Where did you find your picture? Toby Barrett, anybody remember him, posted that picture on BumbleKing.
Oh wow...that was pretty awesome. Tails' voice is great. And Sonic's...will grow on me for sure. I did enjoy the humor though. Breaking the 4th wall are we? 😛 I was considering getting this game for the DS...but I guess now i'll go for the Wii version. Or maybe...both. lol
Hey, I'm know I'm getting both, buddy! Preordered the DS version today at Gamestop to get the hat, but I'm gonna get the Wii version at Walmart so I can use my discount card on it.
So! I just played a Demo of Sonic colors for DS, thanks to the Nintendo channel. I have to say I liked it, the gameplay was very rush-like with a few unleashed elements stuck in there.
I also tried, the Fireball wisp power, It allowed Sonic to do a "boost jump" which propelled him higher into the air, also I think he could burn things in that form. I burnt a flower platform and fell into the water. =P
Have to say I'm looking forward to playing Sonic Colors this year, the demo left me wanting more of it, and the game is promising I think it shall be a success.

NeoGaf where else .
Btw if anyone wants a free Sonic Hat, Sega is holding an event in New York City where they are giving away free hats for the first 300 guests and chance to play the game early.
IGN reviewed it and it sounds great! On my phone and don't know how to link but check it out!
IGN gave it an 8.5 in case sombody want it linked!
Edit: Here are the PA announcements from Eggman and they are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quite a few of them had me actually loling irl!!!
My goodness, Sega. Pollock's hilarious PA announcements have singlehandedly sold me the game. Congratulations.
Really like Aquatic Park Act 3 quite a bit. Some of the other tracks are kinda catchy too but this track really stands out to me.
They better make another picture with Sonic rebuilding that Sonic Cycle picture... >_> 6.4/10 at Gametrailers.
Just because of one bad review?
It's not sonic 06 bad...let's stop getting carried away.
Those Eggman PA's had me floored! Pollock is outstanding! I'm actually kind of looking forward to this game.
Man, I'm ready for this game next week! Speaking of ready get ready for video overload!
The DS trailer for Colors! Two cutscenes; gotta love Cubot! And finally, the Wii intro.
Yea...those announcements are fantastic. Full of win. Kinda Portal-ish as someone on youtube pointed out. I feel really dumb...I somehow forgot this was a Nintendo exclusive. o.o
Sega, you rock!
It appears that the cycle...is truly shattered. :3
Welcome home, Ol' Hedgie friend! <3
Heh, I just now thought of having a picture of Super Sonic flying through the Sonic Cycle; it looked nice!!!!!!!
Here are the Famitsu scores
Sonic Colors (Wii) – 8/8/8/10
Sonic Colors (DS) – 8/8/8/8
Not bad. He even got a 10.
My goodness...
Why do you want me to buy this game Sega?
I mean charming story, gorgeous art, gorgeous graphics, good music. And its all just daytime Sonic Unleashed...
That song is so wonderful! :3
Oh, and the ending theme is just as charming, albeit all autotuned: Speak with your heart - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N63qZfzDSZ8
Yes, I love Speak with Your Heart! Anyway, am I the only one that sorta gets a "I'm Still Alive" vibe from the music? Also, Tropical Resort Act 4, is my favorite level theme!!
Anyway, just to let you know, the DS version is chocked full of characters! Confirmed you're getting both versions?!! (Note: Almost all of the words in the first sentence is a separate link!)
Gosh, are there any characters who aren't showing up in this? Both of these games are looking awesome.
Where's Ray? Or Mighty?
Answer from Sega: 'Who?' 😛
Where's Ray? Or Mighty?
Bahaha! 😛 I'm pumped to see my Chaotix buddies. DS Version buy has been sealed.
No Nack/Fang, Bean and Bark as well....as usual. So basically the Sonic Heroes cast?
Of course - it's the Sonic Central Cast...why would you expect anything else? 😛
So, its out in Europe now, does anyone own it yet?
My flatmate got it and began playing it today. Well, yesterday now technically.
...Sega finally did it right. The level design, so far, is intuitive. The controls aren't overly complex. The difficulty curve seems to be fairly gentle. EVERY LEVEL SO FAR LOOKS AMAZING. THE BOSSES ARE ALL HUGE.
Also, the writing. Almost every single cutscene so far has illicited several giggles out of me. Sonic's new VA is perfect, I don't care what anyone says - his personality and mannerisms mesh perfectly with my mental image of how a properly characterised Sonic ought to be. The rapport he has with Tails is spot-on, I really feel like the two are tight-knit buddies, and they play off each other's sense of humour brilliantly.
I'm eagerly awaiting him finishing the game or at least getting to a point where he's happy to let me start a file on it. Either way though, I'm enjoying it even though I've not played it extensively myself yet. That's a very good sign.
This just keeps looking better and better. Making a game out of Unleashed's daytime stages and cutting the night... Getting new VA's (except Pollock, because he's a keeper) that sound good... Growing a sense of humor (although I probably wasn't as amused by the PA's as everyone else, though there was some gold in there like the asphyxiation one (just hold your breath until you pass out, then... you won't care anymore))... And it's getting great reviews for the most part, apart from a couple mediocre ones, from 2 places I never heard of, and Game Informer, who haven't liked anything since Sonic Adventure anyway... And actual chemistry between Sonic and Tails? Icing on the cake for me. Hopefully the latter does more than he did in Unleashed.
I'm so there on Tuesday.
And somehow, despite following this topic for months, I also kept forgetting that this is a Wii/DS exclusive.
For all your lightgun shooting needs and some other insanity too.
I found a store that was selling it early and I think its, its, its...
GOOD
GREAT
AWESOME
OUTSTANDING
AMAZING!!!
I do have one problem though, Sonic takes some time to get used to. I haven't played Unleashed (either version) and i'm not sure how similar the controls are, but it sometimes felt really awkward trying to move Sonic where you want to go as his jumps seem really slow and stopping after running at full speed is a little jarring, so it takes time to adjust to it. Once I ironed that out it became awesome. It very well might trump Sonic Rush Adventure for me as the best game in the last ten years.
My reactions are similar. I wrote up some basic impressions but I've been holding them until release. The DS version is probably the best SA era Sonic game I've ever played. I can't say yet, but it MIGHT even be about par with Sonic CD for the title of best Sonic game that doesn't have Hirokazu Yasuhara level designs.
Any tips for how to beat the boss of the candy planet?
Sorry i've got nothing, V2. =/ But I did just download the DS demo. Yea...it's so Sonic Rush. Therefore, I like love. Yay yay!

I'm glad you pointed this out. This is the biggest up point in this game, because ever since SEGA gave Sonic a voice, it was just awkward up until now. I even feel so compelled as to writing SEGA, to personally thank them for finally breathing life into Sonic and Tails' characters. Hopefully they stick with this formula forever.
Heck yea! Characterization! That's one of the main things that has kept me...somewhat steady in buying Sonic games[Heroes, ShtH, etc]. And it seems SC has some really good interaction between the two long time pals. I've so gotta get this then. On both Wii and DS.
I was so there on Tuesday. Just letting you know.
I'm not exactly sure how to phrase my opinion other than to say "it's totally effin' sweet." The flaws that held the other 3-D installments back have been pretty much solved. The often-mentioned pitfalls have been almost completely removed. There's very few, and they are pretty much limited to the 2-D parts. The camera has never really been a problem, although you don't have ANY control over it, so attempting to retrace your steps in 3-D results in blind movement, but I don't believe there's any reason to do that anyway (I did it because I thought I missed something.) Admittedly, I'd rather see a Sonic Adventure 3, but this game plays like they always should have.
On other matters, the voice acting and script are great. ADD: the character animations are even better! The game managed to get a few chuckles out of me. It's mostly cheesy, but it's cheesy and dumb enough to be funny. I know, it's hard to comprehend, but it's an art.
I heard a bit about the game ramping up hardcore towards the end, but I found the game quite easy (meaning I never saw a Game Over screen) except for one or two parts. Those parts were the Asteroid Coaster boss and the first stage of the final area (outrunning a robot while dodging lasers and avoiding Motobugs, all without any Rings to be had... There was a good deal of cussing there.) The final boss was intimidating, but I got him on my third try. Only took me 6 hours at most to beat the story. Now, there's replay value to be had though, as the stages have areas you can't reach until you unlock the alien abilities.
The bosses were also fun. Too bad most died in only 3 hits. Granted, actually hitting them was a problem. It's just that they ended right when I was getting into them...
My only complaint is the sidestepping mechanics. In Unleashed, it was a great idea: hit the shoulder buttons to sidestep, allowing you to keep holding up to run at full speed. Here, you have to press left or right. Of course, this undoubtedly has to do with the lack of buttons on a Wiimote. What's more, you have to be running a minimum speed too, so if you're trying to go slow through an area, you'll end up running to the side. However, you only get to sidestep during certain parts, and many times Sonic automatically runs forward during this times, allowing you to concentrate on the sidestepping.
I also found the end weak. I already mentioned the boss, but what's with the final stage? It's like one minute, and all you do is dodge some gaps and jump one. Then there's the tail end of the stage... I was like, "Uh... I can sidestep, but not boost... am I supposed to be doing something here?"
I kinda feel bad about not being to say much more, but really, it plays like Unleashed, but way better.
ADD: Oh yeah, I didn't mention the music. I probably 'forgot' to do it earlier because I'm still kinda out on the jury on that one. In fact, I can't really remember much of it. That's kinda a bad sign, but I DO recall actually thinking that the music was good. Pretty much every other Sonic game has had FREAKING AWESOME music, the only exceptions to me being Shadow and Unleashed (the latter not being bad, but I've never actually fired up Unleashed just to hear its music.) I definately like this soundtrack better than Unleashed, but I'm holding it below the rest. I will go ahead and just say Reach For The Stars is a horrible song though. The music sounds somewhat like Sonic CD's, mostly the American soundtrack, but it's a bit electronica too like the other version. (I can't help singing "magic people, voodoo people" whenever I use the Drill Wisp.) On a final note, unless it's unlockable, I'm pretty certain that there's NO sound test.
And then I have a few annoyances... Like there not being ANY audio controls. Subtitles are always on, which means that thanks to my low attention span, my eyes gravitate towards the words at the bottom of the screen rather than the action above them.
For all your lightgun shooting needs and some other insanity too.
