I agree, it is perfect...It's the US version. When SCD was released here, we got the JP music, so I'd assume we either get the JP version, or an option to choose.
I wish I had this game. I wonder how Sonic CD is like....
You could aways download and try the demo here. How ever there are issues with it working with win xp.
Sonic CD is fun, and I have burned many hours of my life away with it, but in this day and age, CD music and FMV intro/endings just aren't as "HOLY CRAP" as they used to be. The game itself is not the holy grail some seem to make it out to be. To me it almost plays like a big Sonic 1 expanstion pack.
Sonic 3&K just kicks its butt in terms of gameplay, and replay for me though.
And come on, you can buy Sonic CD for the PC for like $3.00 US (plus S&H) on eBay! Get the CD-Rom and a quick download later BAM! You've got yer Sonic CD.
For real. I had the PC version, liked it pretty well, played it a couple of times. Believe me, Sonic CD alone is not worth the thirty dollar price tag, and there's precious little else in this collection to make it worthy of your purchase. Find Sonic CD on PC, or even shell out a little extra to get the original Sega CD version, and forget the rest rather than buy this collection.
Play.com has posted pre orders for Sonic Gems Collection, for the UK release.
Should be here by the 30th, and if the postman is extremely nice I MIGHT get it a day early
Except of course the postman could be very bad and I might not see it for a month, that is the risk I
take...
Still, come the end of the week, YAYY
Heh - I preorderd the game off play.com myself. Not bad 15 i think! Of course it would have to come at a time when i'm running out of money, my student loan isn't coming, I have to fill my car up with petrol, buy phone credit, buy manga books and Pink Floyd CD's are cheap so i have to buy them...Dear oh dear...
Quick question though - can you save anytime you want a la Mega Collection Plus?
Sonic Gems Collection (GC) Posted on 27/09/2005.
No tax + Free postage = <3 for play.com
My order's processing as I type.
Question - did we ever find out for sure if the PS2 version has SOR 1-3? I know we'll find out soon, just wondering if there was any word on it.

For most games, yes. I remember there were a few you did not have the option, but I haven't played it for a while. It was probably the three main games lacking the mid-game save.
That sounds about right. I reckon Sonic R and Fighters will save times, records etc whilst CD had a save game option anyway.
I'm hoping you can save midway for the GG games because i don't have the time to play it all the way through in one sitting.
My game got posted last night so I hope to get it tomorrow a day before the official release HOORAH!
Worst case scenario, PAL people - some players have already got the game, and it's identical to the American release. No Streets of Rage, no Bonanza Bros, and the American soundtrack.
I'm almost kind of glad, though... this way I can just import the Japanese version and get everything I wanted, and one day when I am much richer than I am now, I can get the European/Australian release for the US soundtrack if I feel like it.
Still, Sega's screwed us over yet again, it seems.
Its not the best one but its far from the worst....
I just NEED that Stardust speedway song, which version is it?
was that the PS2 version or the Gamecube version. because from what I understand, the US didnt get the PS2 version because they wanted to keep the rating low and thus shipped the gamecube version only.
Yeah, which version was it? The PS2 version should have everything.
Yay, the PAL version is indetical to the American version. And it comes out here in New Zealand at the end of October. Geez.
If you've got some rabid bias against GFAQs then feel free to cling to it, but I believe him.
We had to wait even longer than usual for this? F**k you, Sega. F**k you.
YOU BASTARD SEGA OF EUROPE!
Not even the Japanese soundtrack? There will be bloodshed.

It's more like "THIS GREATLY OFFENDS ME!"
and please do send pictures of the bloodshed! };D
Well, in a way i'm glad my money is going to be used for TV license now. Because by next week and next wages i'll have something concrete on the status of Streets Of Rage 1-3.
BLOODBATH.
Cheer up, emo kids. At least we're getting the game at all.
Great going, Sega.
Well, at least that confirms I'm importing from Japan.
What's the big deal again?
What about the Japanese version is so much better (other than the Sonic CD soundtrack thing *rolls eyes*)?
Streets of Rage. Period.
Dude, they're like a few notes on eBay. If you're that desperate, you could pick up all three and a MegaDrive for like $20. That said, only the second one is really worth playing.
It's not the end of the world! Bloody hell, you'd think the game was nothing more than a picture slideshow of Yuji Naka raping your mothers.
It's not the end of the world, but I have the right to be pissed off if I got screwed over. Which I was. Like, two-three months ago. Still hate how they took out something I'd been looking forward to.
I'm sure it's nothing personal.
Well, if you want them in the boxes...
...Woah. Good conditions of Streets of Rage sell that well? And mine have just been sitting in my cupboard ever since my Mega Drive broke.
And remember that that's the crap PAL version of SoR3.
I once saw Bare Knuckle 3 go for around 90, UNBOXED.
This is a stupid question, but what's so bad about 50HZ processing compared to 60Hz?
The extra 10Hz, MPH.
Although it's not much in these days, games running at higher framerates will look better than something that has lower framerates.
Btw, the Hz is the measurement on how fast you see the action from a screen. As mentioned, the higher Hz, the better quality of the picture.
Enjoyed Fighters, although I'm very bad at most fighting games so it's an uphill struggle...
Sonic R is harder than I remember, and Sonic CD is slower than I remember, but it is true. As you play through it it draws you in in a way no other Sonic game does. You forget about the slow jumps, the annoying jump noises and start to feel the adventure...
AND WE'VE GOT THE STARDUST SPEEDWAY MUSIC!!!!
My number one reason to buy the collection, now if the rumours I hear about a jukebox type thing are true then i'll be really chuffed...
Although, it is JUST those three games that have attracted me...
The game gear games arent worth playing and Vectorman, although interesting isnt what I want. They could of made the collection ten times more valuable by just adding one more game, Knuckles Chaotix or Segasonic, doesnt matter which. I'd of even took Sonic Shuffle...
But 3 big sellers just isnt quite strong enough...
That said, im enjoying reliving the past with the 2 games and pondering what I really think of Fighters...
Sonic CD is slower than I remember
Probably cos of the lack of 60Hz support.
now if the rumours I hear about a jukebox type thing are true then i'll be really chuffed...
The DA Garden where you can listen to all the music like a sound test with the pretty stuff going on in the background?
That said, im enjoying reliving the past with the 2 games and pondering what I really think of Fighters...
Cool. ^^
Man alive the game feels sluggish. Would it really have hurt Sega to add a 60hz mode? Sonic CD is fun but not as good as I remember (I'll change my mind soon), Fighters is OK but basic, and R i never stopped playing so no probs there.
But 27 Gamecube blocks to save a Game Gear file? Bloody hell!
To me Sonic R is easier. I always turned it to easy to unlock the hidden characters and i forgot to this time and i blasted through the game. Its wierd playing this game with weather effects.
Fighters is meh really. I wasnt expecting much.
Sonic CD, US soundtrack. Dont mind because if i want to play the game with japanese music, Gens emulator and a Sonic CD game. It has aged as well as any other 2D Sonic gaem though.
Hell of a lot of Art which almost makes up for the lack of it in Mega Collection.
No Streets of Rage trilogy (got PS2 version) annoying but its ok. Still disapointed at lack of Chaotix.
Also if anyones confused as to how i got the game well I found 30 quid in my bank account. Shaolin Monks was tempting though.
DA Garden?
Sound test, where, I cant find anything like it...
Or is it one of those things that will appear in a few days or Ineed to complete a game first?
It's in Sonic CD. You get it by getting low times in time attack. You then get another thing {which I won't give details about incase you don't want to know} for getting even lower times.
If you don't want to work for them you can use debug mode in time attack mode. The time taken will always be 0 while debug mode is going.

The game gear games arent worth playing
Tails Adventures is one of the best Sonic related games around. Better than two of the main games on the pack, Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters, I'd say. And it has greater longevity to boot.
You should give it a chance if you haven't already.
browsing through GameFAQs they havent got a bit of music that I have. I've found a gem! (Ow)
I was trying to do the 7 Metal Sonics art I did seven piccies of Metal heard the sound went back and I got some music. some rump shaking Sonic 3 mix.
View piccies in this order. (i think)
10,25,39,40,56,93,160.
That's the Sonic 3 MegaD Mix, which I'm pretty sure is covered.
Man, I hadn't played Sonic CD until I played Gems. Cruel thing is, I had it completed within the hour. And Robotnik's last attempt to destroy you is just pathetic I hate to say.
On a whole though, pretty cool especially the title music!
Fighters is great but I REALLY can't work out how to use that damn hang glider in Sonic 2 for Game Gear. Probably so painfully simple.
Good collection but Vectorman did feel like they were just trying to make up the numbers.
Yeah, the real difficulty in Sonic CD comes from getting all the extras.
That dratted hang glider was the bane of my life when I borrowed the game off a neighbour for the weekend many, many moons ago.
Haven't tried it on the Gems collection yet. But I bet loads of people can offer us advice as to how to get the glider to go up, rather than straight down onto a row of spikes. Ouch!
So folks, enlighten us please Unless there's already a thread somewhere here...
EDIT: found the tips page:

Sonic the Fighters was brand new to me and I adored it. Amy is lethal! Especially when she steals Fang's gun and uses it against him. I nearly died laughing.
Played a bit of Triple Trouble and had forgotten how annoying Tidal Plant is. *growls* I hate underwater levels!
Sonic CD is awaiting my attention this weekend. Sonic R seems pretty much the same as my PC version. I'm hopelessly out of practice though. Craig flattened me in it, even playing Amy Rose. Also, he unlocked Robo Knux in the quickest time I've ever seen. Was it me, or was RK not actually trying as much as he did in the PC version?
DW
I stole Fangs gun with Sonic...
I only have to get the hidden final level demos and the last picture now.
Hence why i have just left my PS2 running for about 3 days now.

Try using the weapon steal on Bean. ^_^

No, Craig's just very good at games. It's an untouched PC port.
I'm importing...Apparently the Jpn Gems saves don't require reformating...I guess I'll just have to hope, wait, and see.
I still cant get past the first boss on sonic 2 GG....
Everything else is going okay though
Man Sonic 2 GG is pretty harsh. My tip for the first boss is to stand near the bottom. If the ball bounces high move forward a little. If not, jump near it - it's a total @#%$ I admit - as it seems quite random.
Save your tears for trying to get the Yellow emerald in Sky High Zone - that's HARSH! Oh and for the hang gliders - my tip for getting through the spike bit is to hold right for a second then keep going left and right to glide through it. Hope that helps.
Oh and for all the @#%$ about the US Soundtrack, i think the US Sonic CD soundtrack is very good indeed. The main theme is fantastic!
Sonic Boom, perfect...
Stardust Speedway bad future is comparable to Ice Cap in Sonic 3, it's just got THAT quality to it...
I love the boss music...
Everything is of a decent quality, I think only the second level present is the only one I had quibbles about, because I found it boring...
But aside from that ONE track, i loved it.
And from listening to a FEW japanese tracks, I just cant see them fitting, especially the japenese boss music...
Oh well.
I can say one thing though, I 've played a UK PC version of Sonic CD and it had the american music, how come nobodis ever pointed that out before...
Up untill Gems came out I always thought that WAS the japense version of the music, as everyone said that we HAD the japense version...
I was wrong
