This probably sounds like a stupid question, but what exactly are the emblems in Sonic Heroes. I read just about every guide and the manual but I can't find anything on them. It just says, collect emblems to get stuff. But how can I collect them if I don't know what they are? Please help. Thanks in advance!
You complete tasks such as finishing the levels, and you get emblems. Pretty much as simple as that.
I'll be honest, it's been quite a while since I've played a game where you got such things as emblems or stars or shine sprites or whatever for completing levels... then again, it's been a while since I bought a game, period.

I'm not entirely sure for Heroes, but there's a screen that shows what emblems you have SOMEWHERE in the menu. You just have to hunt it down.

The file select screen shows the following data in this order(from top to bottom): Total Time, Emblems, A-ranks, and Chaos Emeralds. Also everytime you collect an emblem a screen comes up with the current total. Challenge mode shows which emblems you've collect. There are 8 per level(2 per team one for normal mission and one for extra missions) and 1 per boss for a grand total of 120. For A-ranks there is 8 per stage(one per mission) and 4 per boss(one per team) for a grand total of 144. There is one Chaos Emerald per even numbered stage.
Getting all emblems could be possible. After defeating the final story, after the credits it says to get all A emblems. I don't think it's possible!
So, right, are we saying it IS possible, or that it ISN'T?...
