You know how Sonic 3D was recently released in a range of very affordable games for PC (in my country, the brand is "Valusoft")? Well now they've got Sonic R available at the same price - and I've got a question about this game. See, I'm getting Sonic Gems Collection when it's released here later this month, and I'm aware that it features the PC version of Sonic R. However, seeing as this Valusoft Sonic R is available now - and really cheap - I was considering picking it up, as I was thinking that perhaps the standalone PC game will be a little bit customisable.
Can anyone with Sonic R on their PC tell me - is it possible to explore around the game's files and find the character skins? Because I'd love to be able to edit them and then play the game with my own custom characters. I'm not talking about changing the actual 3D models - just the textures slapped on 'em. Thanks in advance to anyone that can tell me if this is possible, and what programs I'd need to be able to do it (I ask this in case it's not possible to simply open the texture files in MS Paint, or somesuch).
It is possible, although I haven't tried it myself.
I think you need a program that can read RAW files, such as Paint Shop Pro.
Sega-Sonic.Net used to have a page on the subject, which you can access via Archive.org by clicking here.

Awesome! Thanks very much, Big Smile
