And the third option in Gallery has some nice wallpapers, too.
3D track previews are a nice touch. Just like Sonic R if I recall.
Is it just me, or am I the only one who realized that this game was released yesterday? o.o
Doesn't bode well, does it?
I've been playing it for about two hours, which is about an hour more than I played the first one. XD That's actually a compliment, I like this one more, even though I find the learning curve a bit steep for a Sonic game. I never gave the first much of a chance really, it had the speed, but the controls felt too tight. This one isn't too different, but at least I can make corners without hitting the walls thanks to the gravity trick.
Still, it's only been 2 hours... (to be continued, eh?)
For those of you who don't care about spoilers:
The user hasen't posted all of it yet, though. I'll see if I can find the rest elsewhere.
I got ahold of the game yesterday for the Wii. The insane difficulty level has been taken down to reasonable and sane levels -- although the game's learning curve is still a steep 45*degree angle. I have alot of problems with controlling the two new super moves.
Also, I'm a little ticked that you can't grind/fly/bash through walls until after you've collected enough rings in a race. Right now your character is basically neutered/spayed for the first lap and a half and maybe three if I'm not getting many rings.
HOWEVER -- I have been enjoying a good deal of the time I've spent with the game. So it's not all bad.
Also, on the subject of Knuckles personality...To not spoil anything, they depict him at being competent with things in his expertise, but really technologically impaired. Unfortunately, they consider him a treasure hunter. ~-_-
But Knuckles has been considered a treasure hunter since at least SA2 if not SA.
That's never made much sense to me. I would imagine it would be hard to be a Treasure Hunter when you're guarding Angel Island/The Master Emrald all day. Unless there's so much treasure on Angel Island you could spend a lifetime hunting it Knuckles would have to go off-island hunting for it which would mean leaving the island/emerald unguarded. I've always thought of Knuckles more as a monk than a treasure hunter.
On a side note I'm getting pretty good with using the Gravity power that helps with turning, and the one that sends you flying. I still have problems with the power that lets you ride on walls of different directions. I tend to miss the course and just sort of spiral off into oblivion.

If you think about it Knuckles has'nt guard Angel Island and Master Emerald since SA2. He mostly goes on adventure with Sonic now days so must pick up a lot treasures along the way.
I got the game yesterday. Seems more casual than the first game which is great since the first game difficulty annoy me to no end. I was a bit surprised by the Babylon Rogues plot twist. It also makes wonder about the origins of Sonic and friends.
Well I don't know what to think, but I keep coming back to this game even though I have better things to play, so I'd say that's a good thing. The game is quite rewarding once you get the hang of the control.
One thing that I find funny is how Blaze apoligizes every time she overtakes somebody. I'm sorry I'm winning. >_>
Oh and I absolutely love the two stages you unlock after you finsh the babylon rogues' story. I wont ruin it for anybody, but it's quite trip down memory lane. It's the kind of world I'd want to live in.
I haven't played it yet, but I wondering is Silver and Blaze part of the story in any way or are they just like Rouge, Shadow, and Cream was in the last game?
Silver and Blaze are just like Shadow, Rouge, and Cream are in that game -- not to mention this game, as well. The only non-Triple Threat/Babylon Rogue characters that pop into story mode are Amy, Dr. Eggman, and the new Robots.
I'm really warming up to this game. I feel like I should apologize to the game for being harsh to it at first but those were my honest first impression. My second impression is much more positive. I'm wondering if can maybe talk some friends into playing this one with me...'cause that would be fun.
Can anybody tell me if we can play the American / European versions of the game (Wii) with the Japanese voices, like in SONIC AND THE SECRET RINGS, please?!...
Yes, you can set the vocals to either English or Japanese in the American version of the game; I'd assume it'd be the same for the English. You also get your choice of a long list of eight or so languages for subtitles.
Puh-leze Knuckles and The Floating Island almost have nothing to do with each other these days. Knuckles must have bought a forcefield for the M.E. so now he can have a LIFE!
Did you think maybe he was guarding the emerald the day before the game takes place? I doubt each and every adventure takes place right after the last.
Stlll he's a guardian. Guardians don't take vacations if they're the only one. You don't partially guard someting precious and important. Thats a big gamble though apparently danger only comes around Angel Island when Knuckles is there. So maybe he should just ever go back to Angel Island.
Or he's taking care of the threat before it reaches his island.
Can you play using a GC controller?
I have a hard time believing that Knuckles knows when danger is or isn't coming to the Island. Though if he could that would be helpful. Any enemy not as stupid as Eggman would wait for Knuckles to leave the Island before trying to steal the M.E. If Angel Island hadn't gotten a budget cut then Maybe Knuckles could hide the thing XD But theres no forest anymore.
And um. Yeah I think you can use a CG controller.
I'm glad they got rid of the air thing. Yet at the same time I miss it. Stopping at those stations in the middle of a race was annoying. So was having to run after your board lost all its juice. But at least you could pull of neat tricks to gain more power. And I enjoyed being able to speed boost whenever I felt like it. The Trick system in this game seems to have been really really really simplified to just pushing the X button at the right moment. I liked how in the first game they displayed all those fakey trick names the character did while in the air.
Edit: Wewt I beat the whole story mode in one sitting!...because my memory card doesn't work...
And on a totally random note Jet's theme song is much improved in this game. I didn't like his theme in the first game that kept shouting "JET THE BIRD" and "BUCK WILD" it just sounded silly to me. It's the same song but I guess ZG has the "remixed" version.
Speaking of music, anyone know where I can aquire an mp3 of the Un-gravify theme? I would be eternally grateful.
Has anyone posted the overall score yet?
Apparently all the big reviewers hate it, yet the gaming populous love it. The final average is between the two, of course.
The game isn't out here yet, but my copy of the OST arrived. Here's the zany official lyrics for Un-gravitify:
in no way any other way will do
fly, ride, any weather, nothing new, in blue
speeding in a stream with a sense that no one else can define
floating as a cream*, in a bliss that you no longer feel time
right through gravity
just right through what earth planned
right through gravity
right through, now, let them loose
ride through gravity
for all that's not, falls down
right through anomalies
with one worth believing in
all within the speed of a light that one will fight to command
just maybe ready never, still we do
for none is ever better, win or lose it all
beaming just to be on a path that's set to shatter the grounds
although it's but a dream, but in dreams are where the nevers unfound
rise and let go
uprise until unbound
keep rising, evermore
let all go, let them loose
ride and let go
in light in which sun drowns
break and make it all
don't stand down, against the rules
don't stand down, break through
through light in which sun drowns
don't stand down, break through
let all go, break them loose
right through gravity
just right through what earth planned
right through gravity
right through, now, let them loose
ride through gravity
for all that's not, falls down
right through anomalies
with one worth believing in
with one worth believing in
with one worth believing in
just ride on until it's through
*Yes, it really says 'cream', but honestly, I think it's just a typo of 'dream'. It's not the first time the official lyrics booklets have done something like this.
Un-gravitify Electro Extended is alright, nothing amazing. Like the Surfin' SRA Mix of A New Venture it puts a warpy effect on the vocals (you know, like Eiffel 65 did with all of their songs - that kinda effect) but the music stays similar enough.
Any questions just ask. I should have True Blue come through in a few days, and later the 3-disc NiGHTS Perfect Album, though I suspect those will already be ripped and online before I have 'em in my possession XD (living at the ass end of the world means it takes longer for things to arrive in the mail).

I might add, this has been MY argument on the matter, too. And wouldn't it be just LIKE Knuckles to punch first, ask questions later? To take a more proactive role in guarding Angel Island and the ME? You can hardly DRAG the guy from a fight!

The new version is nice, but I prefer the original one, though maybe I'm just biased because I found the song so cool when I heard it in Riders 1. The pace of the song was faster then, and the rap (which, FYI, I usually don't prefer as a genre) was better in the original. The new version is still pretty cool but I think the original fit get better.
