because that was according to the IGN PSP message board.
How the hell is that credible?

The problem with a PSP emulator is the unconventional source material. I don't know a whole lot about that sort of thing, but it seems to me that UMDs would be a lot harder to extract image files from than, say, your average PS2 dvd.
Good point. I forgot about them.
Man, I saw these pics the other day in a topic on GameFAQs, but when I was going to post them yesterday, the topic had been deleted.
I thought Sliver walked liked in Sonic the Hegehog. Guess he trained his self to run. ..Wait, didet Sliver go back in the future after Sonic the hegehog? Im so confused.
Apparently not.

Kinda hard to say what Silver did when the game isn't out yet.
So. Silver premiered in Sonic the Hedgehog Next-Gen, and is still around here, so that means that he, and thus nobody in the game died, and the end of the world didn't occur due to the Flames of Disaster.
*gets boo'd off stage.*

But whean Silver is done he should go home because he did what he needed to. I'll just wait 'till Sonic the Hegehog appear. hopely sega don't mess THAT up.

You're referencing continuity? This is Sonic we're talking about, right?
-Jake
Or it's a spin off, like Sonic Pinball and Sonic R, in which continuity isn't important.
Is that Marble Garden? <3
An Angular Marble Garden. But Marble Garden none the less.
He looks sl'aright.
It does kinda look like it now that you mention it. It also kinda looks like Mystic Ruins in the Tikal flashbacks.
o.o @ new screen shots of the Marble Garden-esque zone
Wait, what is that?
That, arrow'd.
ITS A STARGATE
*shot many times*
I know it's been said, but I feel the need to repeat it myself... These graphics suck.
Isn't the PSP supposed to have PS2-quality graphics?
EDIT: Just look at Turtle Guy's Stargate. It doesn't fit the screenshots because it looks to advanced compared to the rest of the screenshot.
-Jake
Yeah. It looks like this game could have been easily done on the DS.
I wish it had. As much as I'd like to play this, I'm not getting a PSP just for it. I wish Sega would just pick one damn company and stick with them.
Nah, it would just make more sense to make everything for each company. That way they'd get more buyers. I'm also not getting this game because I'm not buying a PSP just for Rivals. ;p
Iam kinda hoping there'll be more than the 4 characters on show here. On a sypnosis on TSS there was a part of the story (SONIC'S) where it said an unnamed power character. Dont know who it would be but it aint AMY/CREAM might be BIG but he's not a RIVAL. "THIS IS JUST SPECULATION BUT THE ONLY OTHER POWER CHARACTER THAT COULD BE A RIVAL TO SONIC IN MY BOOKS IS MIGHTY" 99% wrong maybe but think about it who else is SONIC'S friend that is a power character, Vector would be with the Chaotix/ BIG aint a Rival leaving the possibilities of a "NEW CHARACTER" or MIGHTY.
Well God Father, Were not 100% sure that Mighty is copy righted to Sega no more in the games. How they use him and Ray in the comic it what im trying to under stand. In Knuckles Chaotix, Mighty showed no signs of speed nor streanth. So seeing him as a rival as Sonic is small. (And I know because I play chaotix on game tap) He's name is mighty but he never showed sings of it. Only in the comics. Most likely a new creation will appear.

I thought the PSP would have PS-quality graphics, not PS2 graphics.: It's not a defect, it's a feature. >:D
^Tekken Dark Ressurection and Daxter disagrees with the above statement.
And yeah, the game still looks pretty bad. Bleh.
Interesting. So aside from the "Green Hill" and Ruins levels we've already seen, there appears to be a carnival level, an ice level, a canyon levels, and what looks like the inside of a temple (although that may be part of the ruins).
That trailer...Wow. I like this. I hope they port it. Somewhere. Hahaha I need to play this.
It looks like all you need to do to win is to push right and the level design seems pretty bland. That doesn't sound like a winner or system seller to me. =p
Wow, I have just watched that trailer.
Pros:
Logo is cool.
Seems to move at a fair old rate.
Level backgrounds look interesting if a bit generic.
Cons:
The annimation is terrible. I mean considering the models were ripped from Heroes I thought they would take the annimation too but they have gone with a horrible rigid annimation for Sonic and Silver at least.
Silver looks strange like he doesn't really fit in. He looks lankey but at the same time the same size as Sonic. Not a good look.
I know that limiting factors like level size and speed effect the graphics but still. They do look bad.
The racing aspect looks bad.
I can't understand the reason for doing a 2D Platformer/Racing hybrid for the PSP. Surely if your Sega you would do a 2D Platformer and add a multiplayer as an extra. I did wan't to like this game but it looks bad.
It reminds me of the S3&K multiplayer stuff. Surely they could've(should've) done better, but considering I haven't been keeping up with this game at all it looks interesting atleast. =/
Sonic Heroes looked interesting also.
D'oh! >_<
I really hate the way Sonic runs in this, he looks constipated. Where's the leaning forward and arms back running I like!?
Sonic looks like his old self, at least when he's running.
As for the running and all, I slightly agree for the reasons mentioned and repeated by Ashide et al..
EDIT: After watching the trailer, it seems to me that Rivals is pulling more of a Rush than a 3D Blast/Flicky's Island in regards of gameplay, which is kind of nice.
Then again, I tried playing other games on a PSP (not mine, I don't own one but a relative of mine does), namely Marvel Nemesis and GTA: Liberty Stories and my gaming experience with a PSP is more reminiscing of a Playstation than a Playstation 2: It felt quite slow.
Apparently there's a fifth playable character.
It's probably Mephiles, but at worst we'll get Jet or Espio, and at best we might get Super Sonic or Metal Sonic.
I would think Metal Sonic the most likely.
Damn, I'm interested now. I don't think it will be Mephiles.
If it was Jet or Espio they wouldn't be hidden. It is probably Super Sonic.
It's probably either Metal Sonic or Super Sonic.
EDIT: lol she can't spell!
Supper Sonic? Well, what about Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, or Dinner Sonic?
Ah, well... if it's a choice between semi-living, cold steel and the champion of hot, late day meals...
A Blaze is good, too.
Maybe the secret character is Death Jr, since Backbone Entertainment is working on Rivals. That be cool to play as the son of the Grim Reaper .
It wouldn't be Super Sonic. This is Sonic Rivals, Super Sonic isn't a rival, he *is* Sonic.
It's most likely Metal Sonic. I'd love it if it was the Sonic Heroes version, but I doubt it since he seemed to revert back to his true form at the end of the game. Blaze would be even better, although I don't see them as rivals after the end of Sonic Rush.
True, but I wouldn't really call Knuckles a rival anymore either. And we have no idea how Sonic and Silver feel about each other.
Well apparently the Official Sega Press Release for Sonic Riders (tm) said that Sonic and Knuckles were talking about their past rivalries and decided to have another one. Shadow heard about it and joined in. Silver wasn't announced at the time.

Something about those levels reminds me a lot of Sonic 3's level selection. There's an Angel Island, a Carnival Night in there, and Ice Cap, and Marble Garden, and Hydrocity (plus statues) and apparently some rusty foggy factory place with giant gears.
<3 @ the turtle boss. His movements remind me of Hungry Hungry Hippos. XD I see more of the Stargate-esque loop, and lots of boring looking attacks.
BTW, does anyone else think that Sonic's run looks like the run he had in the Sonic 3D Blast intro? 0o
I know some people won't buy this game. But i thought it whould be nice to tell you what i read in this month's Tips and Tricks. (Did'et have enough money to buy it.)
Each charter is playable with HIS own story line.
Dureing ramdom parts of the game, you will run across tradeing cards. What are they and what they do was not explained.
However, you can use the cards for wagers whean you play with another player.
Im quite interested in the cards and what they can do. And on another note, the stages is 2d the charthers are 3d.
Maybe that's why the game look bad?
The levels are clearly made from polygons as the camera moves around to show that. Everything simply playes in 2D.
Silver looks cute! ^w^
And Knuckles seems to be shooting.. a fireball out of his fist or something. o.o"
I REAAAAAAAALLLY want this game!!!!
PS Sonic Candy, I have nothing against you, but I felt i should mention this in response to one of your earlier posts: In Chaotix, Mighty is THE FASTEST character, faster even than Espio, who is a CONFIRMED Speed type; also, in my experience (I own that game), he can chuck his partner even farther than Knux can, and ol' Rad Red IS a CONFIRMED Power type....
Just felt this was worth mentioning....
Don't feel bad, I hardly played the game on Game tap, only once with Knux and Espio in training. Mainly because i coudent run up the loop-de-loops. And that ring system was just plain stupid and i couder't under stand what it was saying.
BUT MIGHTY AND KNUX DON'T GOT NUTTIN'ON BARK YO!
Erm,I mean if Knux is OH SO STROUNG why the heck is so eazy to beat up on STF and Battle? I mean he's a martial artist comfirmed in his U.S. Heros profile!
That not a good resourse is it?
And It been over a decade and a few years sense Mighty apppered so who know if he still a power type.
And Mighty was created BEFORE Knux appeared. I forgot by how many years/months/days/hours whatever.
OMG! MAYBE THERE BROTHERES!
BTW Sonic332, Do you have a game called Kinobio or a game that acts like Ecco but with a humming bird. It was on 32X also, if you like Ecco you'll like that game.
Sounds fun...
But his only known profile- as far as I can find (which,I believe, was from Chaotix)- states that he's second only to Sonic in speed and most likely the strongest out of the Sonic cast.
And the reason Knuckles is easy to beat in those games is due to lame AI and Sega making Knuckles as slow as molasses in Sonic Battle.
Check out his fisticuffs in Adventure. Especially the Maximum Heat Knuckles Attack (THAT should make a comeback, in my opinion). POW!
