All the interesting threads got lost in the ezboard attack, huh?
Anyway, EBGames and Amazon are both saying that this is meant to come out on November 15, the same day as Shadow.
The popular and favorite blue due with 'tude, Sonic The Hedgehog, blasts his way onto the Nintendo DS and takes high-speed action gaming to a hole new level...literally! He's the fastest blue hedgehog on this planet and now he's pairing up with royalty - Quen, Blaze the Cat. This dynamic duo is a pair from different dimensions...but it's a match made to save the world! In search of the Sol Emerald, Sonic and Blaze must battle it out in their own worlds, but as they do, ripple effects will change the events of the others.
It seems to be implying there's going to be quite a bit of dimension-hopping (although then again, they're also talking about a singular Emerald, so meh.) If they do this crappily it's gonna be like the Advance games with all characters taking essentially the same paths, but if this is done well enough I reckon they'd be able to do entirely different zones for both Sonic and Blaze.
Hahahah...IGN is better. *ducks* Hmmm...I noticed something. At Sonic central it says, "Parallel universes collide as Sonic and Blaze the Cat..." I thought to myself, parallel objects never cross, they stay the same distance apart forever. Sega...come on guys, really.
there isn't a video of it on there like there is on the site I gave you
click on Sonic Rush, then click on 'movies' and watch it in ACTION! - it looks awesome!
He's got you Shadow Hog.
But even still, Sega's Sonic site's incredibly lame. Any place that takes Sonic so un-seriously as to claim Sonic's favorite food is McDonald's doesn't really do anything for me.
Definetly...we all know he lives for Sonic's Chili dogs. *mugged*
Urgh... please tell me that's a lie. If Sega have sold out Sonic to McD's I'll go pale with sadness. It's bad enough the current advert is a song which basically says "I'm not lazy, I'm extreme. I drink milk, water and OJ too, it's what I eat AND SO SHOULD YOU!!!!"
...
Sorry. McDonalds?!
...
*Points at A, then B...*
Healthy? Extreme Sports?
They could SOOOOOOO use Sonic to pimp that message, and that fills me with great terror.

But, back to the game itself, what can I say? It looks amazing. Judging from the boss battle arena I'm suprised we didn't get a take 2 of the Sonic Xtreme nonesense. I mean whenever I watch the video of the snake battle I wonder how damn awesome it'd be for the whole game to be quasi-3d like that is.
Seriously, I can't pick a single flaw with the game, at the moment. I hope future video and preview is as promising.
It'd be more sensible to say Big's favourite food is McDonalds 😛
What are your thoughts on the dimensional hopping and Sol Emeralds?
When I first heard about that I thought "Archie" and somehow the thought bothered me, too. Then again, this might just be an excuse for a plot, like in Sonic Advance 3, the whole "the world has been broken into seven" was just an excuse to make random levels without having them have a logical sequence al Sonic3&Knuckles.
On another board I read the possibility of the dimensional hopping being a tie-in with the Shadow game, I'm unsure what to think on that matter, though.
The Sol emeralds are weird. Will Sonic be able to use them to go super? Or can they be used only by the people from the dimension they come from(i.e.Blaze)?
On a totally unrelated note, did you notice how Blaze's outfit looks like Eggman's? It'd be fun if she were his Sol dimension counterpart! XD
the only thing that got on my nerves a bit when I was watching that clip, is Sonic keeps saying "yeaaah!" ever 5 seconds!

In a sense, Sega has already done that with those Sonic merchandise toys you would get when buying a Happy Meal, or by purchasing them alone. 😛
The boss fight didn't impress me as much, it seemed very similar to the Lava Reef Act 1's boss, all over again. That giant hand you fought moved side to side, trying to track down your every movements. This would eventually lead to it slamming its palm to the ground in order to crush you, which you had to dodge and then attack it while the hand was down, a similar design pattern to this one.
Everything else was good, though. I think I saw atleast one or two branching paths, hopefully this will be a good sign of different areas to explore in a level.

They let you purchase them alone? At my local McDonalds the gal told me that wasn't possible! I was ready to pay double the price even! Everything to avoid eating junk food.:P Had to buy it in the end, got the toy and gave the food to the pidgeons.
I also saw a few branching paths in that movie, often one went upwards and the other one downwards into the lower screen. I liked that new attack of Sonic's too, when he dashes into the enemy, looks like a powered-up homing attack.
You can at my McDonald's for a fee of $1.99. Of course, I only went their for the Sonic LCD games, and I haven't been there since that incident. =O
I just saw the video at Sega-Europe, and I must say I'm impressed. The boss battles especially caught my eye. I'm definitely reconsidering this.
WHOA.
I have a reason to get a DS now.
Some parts of the game remind me of the KLONOA seires... I'm eager to buy this SONIC title!!...
Bloody Sega, stealing my money... I got a GBA especially for the Advance games and I only ever bought 3 games for it, one of which I never played, ever.
Stupid unemulatable handheld device...

Well, actually-- **gagged**
You have GOT to be joking! Someone took the time to work out a way of making the Stylus work on a PC?!
I'm impressed. Very very impressed.
Uh, yeah, it's called a "mouse". Maybe you've heard of it?
But it's mostly just demos and the like, right now.
XD! It's ok Craigey...I didn't really think of a mouse, although it's still not really touch screen. Ha! Shadow...what do you say now? *awaits his spanking* ^^
The experience won't be the same (like, DUH right?), but playable? Sure.
This discussion is over! >_> **vanishes into puff of smoke**
;_;
Wacom tablets anyone?
Let's hope that one of the DS emus will actually be able to play DS games by the time this is released, hm? {doubtful :D}
In an attempt to drag the thread somewhat more on-topic, I shall now expand on my views. ;3
Wow, looks like the fastest Sonic game yet. Doesn't seem to have a timer that counts down, thankfully, contrary to what I assumed before{dun' remember why}. Slick, Smooth, whatever you wanna call it, it's that.
I like the addition of the fire dash clone, especially when the player uses it to shortcut like I have in Sadv2 Leaf Forest. It's like the full speed attacks in Sadv2, but it doesn't slow you down...Infact it speeds you up. Excellent. TOOT TOOT TURBO WARRIOR!
Finishing on a less positive note; the music seems bland like the Advances. Don't ask me why, but I just feel that 90% of the music on the handheld Sonic games lacks soul.
Sonic's model also looks like a Porygon. Asin, he looks worse than he did in Sonic 1. Hopefully it'll only be obvious in boss fights - that's when I noticed.
I wonder if you'll get to play as any other chars, and if so, who, and how they'll differenciate from Sonic{can't imagine Tails pulling a fire dash, can you?}
First off: Sonic and Blaze will be the only two characters you'll play as. any other character will be hidden.
Second: the music may just be for the demo. i liked the Advance series music anyway so it won't bother me.
Third: i'm not sure if you've noticed by now, but they are using the same 3D model design as the one in Sonic Shuffle.
Hmm...Interesting. I wonder about a hidden character...Maybe you'll get to use Super Sonic just like in the classics. ...Maybe Blaze goes super. oO MAYBE SONIC AND BLAZE FUSE. XD
Second: the music may just be for the demo.
Mm, true. I hope so.
Third: i'm not sure if you've noticed by now, but they are using the same 3D model design as the one in Sonic Shuffle.
Now that I watch it again, it doesn't look that bad. I guess it was my sprites v models bias or soemthing.

MAYBE SONIC AND BLAZE FUSE. XD
ZING!
If that's the case, wouldn't DBZ Budokai 2 have to have gotten the M rating...
You either missed the joke or made a bad one.
I got the joke. I think Torn missed it. Maybe, not too sure.
*Shudders at memories of VG Cats*

When was the last time we had a Sonic game which didn't introduce a significant new character? Way way back at Sonic Advance 1, if you don't count robot Knuckles (which you really shouldn't)
I bleeding hope that Black Doom is the only newbie in the Shadow game.
There can't be a Super Sonic as we know him in Sonic Rush because there are no Chaos Emeralds. It'd be a nice change of pace if it turns out Blaze is the "chosen one" in this particular dimension and can harness the Sol emeralds to become some kind of powerful being, with Sonic as support or usable projectile.
Still think she should do a 180 and become the main villain, though. Heck, the two objectives can be mutually accomplished with the right attitude!

)
Maybe Sonic and Knuckles. I mean did we ever see the Egg Robo after that, like ever? Not real significant at all...
Egg Robo is a secret character in Sonic R and SA2B. I think he counts alot more than most, he even had official art. That makes him more influential to the series than my beloved Tails Doll *Huggles it*
Oh, never knew that. Tells you how much I've played the 3D Sonic games...hey what about Sonic 3D Blast?
Even though some of us prefer to forget that one but there weren't any new characters in that one...
*pops in Mega Collection and chooses 3D Blast hoping to find a flaw in Torn's statement* Just kidding, I do think you are correct Torn, 3D Blast was yet another classic struggle w/ Sonic vs. Eggman.
And the Flickies don't count, do they?
No, they did make their first appearance in the Sonic series with Sonic 1. Not exactly new to the series. However, they did play a much bigger role in Sonic 3D than they did in other Sonic games.
Also the eggrobo makes a brief apperance in S&K special stage perfect screens.
Oh, he was also downloadable for SA2 on the dreamcast, and came with special 'eggrobo' track.
Right, well if you can tell me where to find red, green and pink Flickies in Sonic 1, I'll be grateful.
I thought we were talking about Flickies as a whole.
Either way, never even thought they counted anyway, they were still Flickies, only now with a different color.
Someone should have told that crazy guy with a pencil.
Adding new characters isnt the problem, the problem is adding continuing characters.
If Black Arms is a secondary character/boss, and you defeat him and the story ends and we never see him again, thats fine.
But i suddenly we find a new person called , i dunoo, a girl called Alex the Anteater and Shadow falls in love with her and she's playable in the next game, thats whats to worry about.
Minor characters like Tikal, Gemerl, Gerald and if he hadnt come back Shadow are great, the problem is 1: Bringing Shadow back, 2: Bringing Rouge back as well and 3: Cream sticking around AS WELL, oh and 4: Bringing BIG back, and possibly 5: Bringing Chaotix back...
Although I can forgive them the first, as it looks like their going to do someting with Shadow and the last because it was kind of cool, when you get them ALL added together it just gets a bit hectic.
Useless and/or redundant characters is the problem.
Mr Creosote, do you have a save state for that? I've never gotten that far before on Blue Spheres. Is there a place where I can see screenshots of all the different "Perfect" animations?
SW2b has tons of stuff (this is where i found this stuff), even editors for the S&K special stages, which are useful as they give the codes for the various stages.
At the time i was using the Gens.
Level: 67534
Stage: 162068717
Code: 4615 9667 0878
Also to make it easier i used the following game genie/patch codes.
00975C:4E71 SKIP RED SPHERE COLLISION
00975E:4E71
0097C8:4E71 SKIP STAR BUMPERS COLLISION
0097CA:4E71
FFE438:0001 ONLY ONE BLUE SPHERE TILL FINISH
FFE442:0000 ZERO RINGS (GET PERFECT IMMEDIATELY)
Why, that's blatant cheating! The cheek!
