So did that 11 23 thing in the video mean it comes out November 23, anyone else think that's the case. The game sounds very interesting. I can't wait to get it. And I think Blaze will serve as a pretty good new character for this one game atleast.
Hmm. The new Eggman looks pretty cool, but I wonder if we'll be seeing a Super form of Blaze as well? It's perfectly feasible, if somewhat odd to imagine...
For some reason Alt Eggman (Who shall now be known as Namgge bahahaha) reminds me of Heihachi from Tekken. This game is looking great to be honest. The storyline is a bit mad but then anything involving alternate dimensions and time travel* usually is.
Nosing through some of the pics and the graphics dont seem to be a massive improvement over Advance 3. just noticed the characters are 3D but cel shaded. I mean i just thought that was just for special stages and bosses. May have to get a DS soon. Wario Ware, Mario Kart, Pac Pic, Bomberman, DBZ: Supersonic Warriors 2 and this along with a rumoured version of Soul Calibur.
* i meant in general not just for Sonic Rush

Dr "NAMGGE" Kintobor you mean. 😛
Hey, y'all, check this out while on the GameFAQs board I found this link for an JPN ad about Sonic Rush. It doesn't show much but it does have some new things like a hang gliding section. While I'm at it the guy who posted the link gave credit to someone; so, I shall paste what he said: "Credit goes to Lunacy of the SA.net boards for uploading it the yousendit!"
Nice find, Ray i'm in abit of a rush now, but i'll check it out later.

it ain't much new, but you see a new boss. looks like a giant turtle.
can someone translate the page?
*watches trailer*
Space AGAIN? Why doesn't Eggman put his base underwater for once, or maybe back in a giant factory like the old days?
Quote:
(Who shall now be known as Namgge bahahaha)
Hey, thats MY joke!
Unless, of course, you thought of it prior to me. All I know is that I thought of it at some point, and you thought it up at a different point. But it's impossible to tell who made it up first, (I thought it up before you posted that, anyway) so I call dibs. :"> P
Like the old days? Umm... Like Sonic 1?
Space has been part of Eggmans plans since Sonic 2, in Sonic 3 he TRIED to get to space, in Sonic and Knuckles he managed it, and the only mainstream games not to go into orbital are Sonic 3D and adventure 1...
Still, I like the idea of the final boss being fought in an underwater arena...
Thats slowly flooding
That would be brilliant, all greens andblues rather than greys and blacks like we usually get. And imagine if Super Sonic was a plot device, you need the 7 chaos emeralds so when the base floods you can survive without breathing whilst you close the airlock to stop the rest of the base from flooding...
...
Okay, I'll stop imagining it to stop me being dissapointed
Aww man that would be sweet. Eggy's got to know that's Sonic's weakness.

Scrapbrain Zone Act 3.
Nuu hu...
Scrap brain was ABOVE water, at the end of act 2 you get DROPPED into the sewers below, and spend the act trying to find your way back up to deal with Eggman.
Still, something like that yes.
seems that Sonic's getting big on the DS already. not only is he coming out with one of the most anticipated DS games of the year, but it seems that you can get a Sonic Rush skin for your DS. it's $10 and is set to come out the 15th of this month (tis 5 days from now!!). check it out and pre-order if you want....though i'm sure that you can wait for 5 days *notices evil stares directed to him*....o-or not....:

HELL YES! *Buybuybuy*!
;___; no international shipping
You never know Craig, there is a VERY small infentisimle chance that it'll come out in the UK...
...
Yeah, be hopefull, smile
Whoa, that is pretty sweet. I wish they would have like a solo skin with just Sonic and then one with just Blaze. I would've gotten it if Blaze wasn't on there. >_>
more info on Sonic Rush's SP Stages and Zone Map:
Surprisingly, Sonic Rush also seems to be taking great advantage of the DS. One of the newest and unexpected additions is a "trick action" mini-game during the special stages. During these, you'll perform trick actions with Sonic by pressing a series of numeric buttons as they appear, and because they're timed, you'll have to be fast with your touching. In addition, the special stages resemble those of Sonic 3; you use the touch screen to slide Sonic left and right, grabbing rings and avoiding spikes.
The game is also set on a "Zone Map" somewhat similar to the world map of Super Mario Bros 3. While moving from Zone to Zone, gamers will encounter character dialogues that move the plot. It's also hinted you'll have support characters on the top screen during the map section, though what they'd is unknown. The magazine also featured screens of great looking, fully 3D bosses you can run circles around and battle in a Klonoa-esque 2.5 way.
also:
it's been awhile since Sonic Rush was first announced and NOM is still loving every bit of it. they got a chance to play a great deal of the game and truly believe it to be the best Sonic game yet. they also kept their predictor rating for this game which is a 90%+.
here's a shortened version of their recent hands-on preview. credit goes to Speedy:
This is the best Sonic game ever made. No messing. If you spend more than two seconds going slow, you're not playing it properly. We've played right through to the last world and can tell you that the pace never lets off. And it's all thanks to the utterly genius boost bar. You can devistate whole swarms of beasts without ever slowing down. It's awsome. But you have to use the boost wisely. It drains quickly and you have to recharge it. In a previous version of sonic rush, you did this simply by running fast. That's changed-for the better. Now the only way to charge the bar is to perform stunts. STUNTS! you'd think that would interrupt the flow of the game, but it actually improves it drastically. Why? In all sonic games, you have dormant moments where you're flying through the air after hitting a spring or grinding along a pole, and you just hold a direction. For that moment, your fingers don't do much. Sonic rush fills those finger-lazy moments with stunts. They're not complicated to do - when you're sprung into the air, you hit the jump button to stunt and when on a grind pole, you tap "Y". Sonic flicks about like a nutter and your boost bar fills up. The level design in sonic rush totally kicks ass. Following tradition, each zone has two acts, and a boss fight. And each zone differs from others, not only by looks and music, but by its own unique mechanic. For example, zone 1, leaf storm has vine ropes that sonic needs to spin around on. As he does so, vines wrap around a spring in the middle, which draws him in towards the spring, which will shoot him into the air. Zone 2, water palace has a giant rotor blades under the water. If sonic hits them at speed, they'll spin and create a whirlpool that'll carry him upwards. If he hits it slowly, the whirlpool won't be created and he'll fall down. Even cooler, zone 6, Altitude limit has rocket-powered platforms that shoot upwards. You have to direct them left and right to dodge past spikes and other obstacles. Touch anything and the platform will explode, leaving sonic to fall to his death. Repetitiveness was always a problem with old sonic games. But with these zone-specific obstacles, sonic rush is constantly refreshing.
could this game truly be the best 2D sidescrolling Sonic game yet? does it have what it takes to take down the immortal figures of Sonic CD and Sonic 3 & Knuckles?
well to many, Sonic Advance 3 already gave SCD and S3&K a run for their money and Sonic Advance 3 wasn't even made by SEGA/Sonic Team (Dimps are the masterminds behind the Advance series). given the fact that this will be the first ever home-grown 2D Sonic game in 11 years, i'd say that the chances are pretty good....but no one can promise anything at this point.
If that review is half as accurate as I'm hoping it is, then we're definately in for a treat, the only thing I worry about is that "never slow down" means "always hold right"
Tricks sound like a welcome addition though, better than the R-Stunts.
Whoa...thats insane. But the best Sonic game to date...is it even legal to say that? Better than Sonic 3 and Knuckles, how dare they! =P
here's a little somethin' that Speedy forgot to add the first time around:
Quote:
The days of Eggman trying to drill sonic or swing a pendulum at him are over. They're sissy attacks. Eggman gets SERIOUS in Sonic Rush.
i guess he's working with the alter Eggy seeing as how Eggy hardly makes any serious inventions.
i guess two IQ 300 brain consisting heads are better than one eh?
janu, never, EVER dodge the censor in my presence, got it? It doesn't matter that "ass" isn't censored; replacing it with "a$$" shows that you THOUGHT it was, and tried to get around it. Now think what would happen if somebody took that approach with REAL entries in our filter?
Don't let me catch you doing it again or it's an instant step toward your ban - a step in a direction we hopefully won't have to take.
Uh, SH, in defence of janu, I don't think he was trying to dodge the censor; he just copied and pasted the review and the review it self already had it. Of coure, if he did intentionally try to dodge it, then he should get scolded because that is a no-no.
Figures. Well, then you're off the hook, but I'll keep that there for any other would be censor-dodgers.
And because I made a dang fool of myself and don't feel like cleaning it up. Point and laugh away, children.
and here i thought you knew me better, SH. i ain't a n00b.
anyway, i got a bit of info that fans'll crack on 'till the cows come home:
seems that zone 4 will be called "Night Carnival".
get it?: Night Carnival-Carnival Night?
oy.....i can smell the bashing already.....

OMG!! That's a combined weigh-in of an I.Q. of 600! Man, that's gotta be nasty. Imagine all the things they could accomplish together. *Gasp* A drill and a pendulum on the same machine! x.x *Dies*
A Drillendulum!
You're welcome for me sticking up for you, janu.
So, so far we have:
1. Leaf Storm Zone
2. Water Palace Zone
3. "Sand Zone"
4. Night Carnival Zone
5. ?
6. Altitude Limit Zone
7 "Metal Zone"
Looks like they're following the usual tropical/carnival/ruins/metal zone archetypes again. Although if Zone 5 isn't an "ice zone", it'll be the first time for a while.
Yipes! I thought we'd seen the last of the dreaded underwater zone! None of the Advance games had them, why Sega, WHY!?!
*Cries and drowns again*
Altitude Limit is a very silly name, though, it makes me laugh!
Sonic Advance 3 had a water zone, and Sonic Asvance 1's ice zone featured water areas quite prominantly. Plus, S3&k's Hydro City Zone is one of the greatest levels in Sonic history, hardly dreded.
...oh yeah...thanks Super Razor.
EDIT: EXTREME SPOILERS!!!
it seems that someone got to play the last level of Sonic Rush. the demo allowed ppl to play all the levels just like the recent Shadow demos. this is what he claims to happen and how it plays: you start out as Super Sonic on the top screen, against Eggman. It's like doomsday zone at first, only with giant lasers shooting at you. You evenually you reach Eggman, and you have to reflect lasers back at him to damage him. Also, for the first time, Super Sonic can actually lose rings from a hit, but only from some really slow homing missles. After hitting Eggman 3 or so times, he retreats to a strage device, and goes into one end towards the top. Eggman Nega comes out of the bottom end in an upside-down version of Eggman's machine on the bottom screen. Now you play as Super Blaze (Who can shoot fireballs) and basically do the same thing, only I believe that the attacks are different. I stopped playing at this point, as I had to leave. |
this could be Sonic history in the making!
Spoilers (Select To Read) Someone besides Sonic goes super? OH MY GOD!!! |
So is this game out yet or what? I still wish I could afford a DS -_-;
I did come up with my own theory for Blaze. I was actually thinking she might be Big the Cat's oppisite. She's smart, fast and a girl and skinny. Big is slow, stupid, a male and fat. I'm sure they're both pretty strong though, but it seems to make sense to me that Blaze and Big would be oppisite counterparts from alternate realities and stuff.
So the opposite of pyrokinesis is... fishing?
And no, the game's not out til next month.
Yikes that Casino level looks amazing. I love the music too. Sonic is too fast, I don't think I would know what to do in that game...running so fast and everything. And that Blaze video. Wow That boss is incredible, he's one of the coolest ones i've seen in a Sonic game. Too bad Cream was talking I couldn't hear Blaze all that well. u_u Still this game is shaping up to be a winner. Nice find Janu, thanks.
Based off of someones Fake Ending For ShTH:
Blaze: Shadow.....is the sonic from my demension...
Sonic: Really? Then who are you from here?
Blaze: *points thumb at Big*
Big: duuuuuuuhh....
In Gamesmaster (UK MultiFormat Magazine) Sonic Rush scored... 85%.
They Love.
Hitting the Dash button and watching things go almost too fast to see.
The clever 3D bits
They Hate.
Just missing a jump and twanging straight into a bottomless pit.
Tails twittering away like you mum whenever a boss hits you.
Graphics - 89%
Just 3D enough to show off what the DS can do. Excellent Stuff.
Gameplay - 80%
Run, run, run, jump, run. It's not as deep as Mario, but tis good no-brain fun.
Lifespan - 75%
This isn't all that tough. Collecting the rings is a different matter, though.
They seemed to like the game throughout the review and said it was a return to form for Sonic.
Sounds more like more of the same stuff the Advance series had than a return to form, actually... more or less what I'd been expecting. No exploration to add replay value, an excessive focus on speed, and way too many bottomless pits. Only, now with 4Kids actors screaming at you when you're fighting a boss. Bleh.
Oh well, that's not to say it won't be fun anyway...
"Based off of someones Fake Ending For ShTH"
That was me ^-^
"This isn't all that tough. Collecting the rings is a different matter, though."
Rings? Does it mean to say Emeralds?
Like with Shadow, I wasn't initially thrilled with the way this looked but now am heavily anticipating it, eager to get stuck in. Unfortunately, judging by the fact Gems Collection still isnt out in my country yet, it - like Shadow - will probably be released here at the end of 2007, or something. Angst.
Where do you live, CyberKnux?
New Zealand. We're PAL territory, and thus get grouped in with Europe. So one thing I guess that holds things up is that we have to wait for them to put in support for a whole bunch of languages - ones that noone over here speaks but that are used in european countries. It hits europe, and then there's a period of pointless delay, and it hits Australia. Generally we tend to get games the same time as Australia these days, but then, as in the case of Gems Collection, there's a load of little extra delays that have no explanation for them.
I call a few weeks in advance of the published release dates to a very good games store here, and get them to note down to send me a copy of whatever game I'm looking foward to. Sometimes the games do come out on the day that's detailed on their website, and then I get it nice and quick as they're on top of things and very quick to get stuff mailed off (it may help I'm one of their best customers and have spend thousands on DVDs there over the years. Ugh, actually that's a bit scary to think of all that money spent @,@ My job doesn't pay that awesomely)... but then there are those "Geez I hate this fricking country" times when the games just refuse to damn well get here.
I'm a bitter, bitter young man.
DvdCrave.com.au ships to New Zealand I believe, if it's any help to you... I've used them a few times and they've got pretty good prices and fast shipping.
Sounds like a winner then, Gamesmaster are usually a "I HATE EVERYTHING" bunch when it comes to games reviews (at least they were back when I cared about gaming).
I'll have to grab myself a DS sometime soon, now...
A new Sonic rush site.
Very intruiguing. It seems as if Sonic's story can affect Blazes' search for the sol emeralds. For bad or good it seems. NOM have already given it 92%? Considering their Mario fanboyism and considerable hate of Sonic, thats a bit surprising. Sonic Rush does looks amazingly brilliant though and sounds like it according to all the previews i've read.
Famitsu scans with character art. New piece of artwork of Sonic, the pieces of Blaze and Nega Eggman from the TGS banner in full, and the rest are from Sonic Channel or in Cream's case, Advance 3.

You'll need to cut n' paste and remove the spaces.
Thanks go to Miles Prower of Planet Sonic forums.
Now that there's (finally) a full and decent shot of Nega Eggman, I notice his uniform is like a hybrid of his old-skool look and the SA look. If it was properly coloured and featured less yellow, I'd say it was as good/better than SA Eggman.
Stupid question.... Is he Officially called Nega Eggman, or is that our fan term?
It's an OK costume, but I actually wish it was even closer to the pre-SA look. No jacket, but a cape. This just kinda looks like a fan recoloring....
I originally called him Alter Eggman, but then I read a tiny bit of spoiler, which called him Nega Eggman (and the person reporting it said "Yes, that is his official name"). So yeah, I guess so. Can't say I like it that much, but.. *shrug*. He's just labelled as 'Dr. Eggman' in that Famitsu article. Shame there's no art of our Eggman there as well, I reckon.
