(Thanks for the reply!)
Oh, well. I suppose both are called Eggman, and Sonic and co. add the "Nega" to delineate between the two. Makes sense I suppose.
The music on that site is....
...
Weird. But some of the latter tracks are great, should be some interesting final levels. Music than can be dark and depressing but fun and funky at the same time?
Interesting...
I LOVE the music. Anybody who played Jet Set Radio should be getting all sweaty and nostalgic for Hideki Naganuma's awesome composery...composition? Whatev. It's great. Track 5 is ska! HAPPINESS.
Jman is correct. If there is an official soundtrack (and, IIRC, there will be one), it is MINE.
Gotta agree there, this has SUCH a Jet Set vibe and I love it! (Feelin' HOT HOT HOT!)
The more I see of this game, the more I think it'll be worth every penny I spend on it, even if I know I wont be buying any other DS games.
It's embarrassing that the Handheld crew have been showing up the Console games since Sonic Battle.
If this continues, we may aswell divide the fandom into "Old skool" and "Nu Skool" and see which sells more. I'll be sitting on a stoop with my baseball cap on backwards saying GNARLY DUDE! This is sooo COOL!
90's 1337ness will be in style soon! I promise you *narrows eyes*
IGN has three new movies (at least I think they're new. If not, apologies).
media.ds.ign.com/media/68...ids_1.html
The top left one is simply the title screen animation. The second is a small cut of the pyramid stage, but the third (second row down, on the left) is a proper sampling of that stage.
Go to characters and it has the new Sonic Rush art for Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Eggman.
I think anyway because now the site is being a pain for loading.
Googled Sonic Channel and got the site just fine. It indeed has new character art - Sonic, Tails, Kunckles, Amy and Shadow to be exact. Nice stuff. This game is going to make me buy a DS, I swear. >>; The Jet Set Radio-esque music just clinches it. XD
Maybe I could convince my DS-owning friend to buy this game. I don't have the money to get a DS right now.

Please tell me you were looking at the Shadow game section, and not Sonic Rush.
I blinging well hope so, I'm using Rush to be my escape from the angst...
I don't need it following me, crawling in my skin and driving me insane. Last night I had a nightmare that some broken robot dolls turned me into an angsty goth while singing Close To You in baby like voices, I'll never sleep again until I'm free of that darn hedgehog.
There is another Rush site up again. This is the site from SOA. It's pretty much like the other one but some of the tracks from the first one is missing while other tracks are longer; plus, it has ratings from Nintendo Power, music from the Desert level as well as one from a boss fight, etc.
Sonic Channel is just like Sonic Central and Sonic City. But its Japanese. So Shadow wont be spreading the angst on the DS. Yet.
I wish there was a nice medium between Sonic games these days. We either get "I am Shadow, the mos emo hedgehog ever. Angist angst Maria, woe is me" or "WE R TEAMWROK OMGLOL!!!111" I miss the days I *wasn't* embarassed by Sonic...
As I said in a previous thread ("Things in Sonic games that really got me angry"), I don't think Shadow is quite as incredibly seething with angst as most people seem to think he is, but after seeing his new character art on Sonic Channel, I'm beginning to think he should be. That's the worst piece of art in that 'series' (Sonic Channel chara bio art) - I really like all the other new pieces (Sonic's is a bit boring though), especially Eggman's. This new Shadow pic looks almost identical to many of the existing ones. I was expecting something more dynamic considering he's in action in his own brand new game.
I'm guessing that the character art for Tails, Knuckles and Amy in the Famitsu scans was not made specifically for Rush. They'd been on Sonic Channel for a while already - that's where they premiered. Additionally, the art for Cream is from Advance 3 anyway, so yeah. Sorry, I'm an official art fanatic.
Now what IGN says doesn't matter, It's what I say that matters!
*shivers* For a second there, I thought you were KingBooPingo. o.o That's EXACTLY like somthing he would say, evil smiley and all.
Got this today. It's bloody fantastic. There are still bits where you're still doing little more than pressing right, but they definately seem to have more of a grasp on what made the Megadrive/Genesis Sonics good. It's also quite a bit harder than the Advance games, which never really had too much difficulty to them IMHO. If you're a Sonic fan, you pretty much owe it to yourself to get this game.
There are many reviews. All seem to like it.
On the other hand, I remember that so-called professional reviewers treated Advance 1, 2 and 3 as roughly equivalent.
Hence, I think I'll wait for the opinions of a few more people on here. Particularly those who, like me, disliked Advance 2 intensely.
I've had this game for 2 days now, along with shadow. It is a very fun game, the levels, bosses, and music are all well done. I haven't completed the game yet, but it is more interesting than the advance series overall. It is also alittle tricky at first, but it may only make you want to play more. Oh it also does have it's share of bottemless pits of course. Though it isn't bad enough to be a problem.
Just like the Advance games, my initial impressions with Sonic Rush are favorable. Only time will tell if it holds.
I've played through several zones each with Sonic and Blaze (who's unlocked right after Sonic completes the first zone). The music is different, and GOOD with lots of vocals interspersed between beats. The control is nice and tight, Sonic and Blaze are a joy to maneuver. Boost Mode a bit superflous but quite useful at times.
The game's story is told through cinema scenes and dialogue boxes at key points to further the plot along, though so far the atmosphere's been nice and airy with none of the desperate seriousness that permeated SA2. I think I quite enjoy the fact that in Sonic's story you have to collect the Chaos Emeralds yourself in Special Stages, and Blaze gets the Sol Emeralds automatically according to the plot (usually after a boss is beaten)... a mix of classic Sonic and Adventure gem gathering.
The Special Stages bring immediately to mind S2's version with the running in miles-long half pipes and the rows upon rows of rings and occasional spike ball hazards... except here, you move Sonic with the stylus. It's incredibly intuitive, you just slide it along the screen and Sonic follows perfectly. When enemies pop onto the screen (yeah, enemies) you tap 'em with the stylus to have Sonic spin attack with extreme prejudice.
And FINALLY, getting into the Special Stages in Rush is nice and easy. Littered through every act are special "swings" (I've seen two in one act so far, and they're not quite as hidden so finding them shouldn't be a problem). To activate them you hold on and use Boost Mode to open a gate into the stage. It takes just a little more than one gauge of Boost to do the trick, and the great thing is if you fail to collect the Emerald, you can go back and try again as long as you have enough Boost left over from before.
I'll play more tommorow and see if this game's promise holds true.
I just bought this gameand I really like it. It definetly has that Jet Set Radio vibe about it, the music, and the way sonic moves constantly remind me of it. The cut scenes really bring the story to life as far as I can tell (I've just completed the first boss)
Oh, and you can tell it's the 4Kids actors doing the voices. >>; they don't make too bad a job of it though.
"On the other hand, I remember that so-called professional reviewers treated Advance 1, 2 and 3 as roughly equivalent.

That's also why I'm waiting a little more. I like the Advance games okay (bar the third), but I never really have much of a desire to play them again, unlike the genesis titles which are pure joy (yeah, duh, as we all know). Advance 1 I like okay. Advance 2 is actually my fave, though terribly linear (can't play it for long). Advance 3 I don't have much love for at all and I fail to see why everyone loves it so much. Sonic Rush at least looks like it's going to be a lot more enjoyable than all three of the Advance games, and I can't wait til it's out here.
"And FINALLY, getting into the Special Stages in Rush is nice and easy."
HALLE-FRICKING-LUJAH!!

My opinion regarding 2 and 3 is almost exactly the other way round. Hated 2, very taken with 3.
The point remains, however, that professional reviewers treated two very different games much the same.
(Waits to hear more about the actual level design, as opposed to special stages/plot/gloss)
So the Special Stages are easy to access and play? That's definitely a big plus. The godawful Special Stage systems dragged down Sonic Advance 1-3 and Heroes a lot.
WE HAVE A NEW SKY CANYON IN RUSH'S ALTITUDE LIMIT ZONE. I mean, God @#%$ Damn it! Bottom-less pits everywhere, and what the Hell do they do? THEY ADD-IN ONE HIT KILL LASERS in places where normally there'd be bottom-less pits if it weren't for the fact that you're far above the bottom area of the stage, so there's no hope of surviving if you fall, even on the top screen. DAMN IT ALL TO HELL!!
Nice music, though. ^_^
But seriously, damn. As for level design, feels like Advance 3 again. So yeah, the game WILL frustrate you in later Zones (unless you start with Blaze, who's choice of first Zone will frustrate you right off). Is it just me, or does it seem that Blaze's game is juat a little tad harder than Sonic's? Can't just be my imagination...
Just got it this morning and though I'm no way used to using 2 screens and the DASH button, I'm getting there. This is like Sonic Advance 2 on speed.
But of course it has a water level I totally enjoy. Not even the almighty Hydrocity has done that for me. This game is like the light in the darkness.
It's a shame that the Eggmans Robot designs have been turned to crap via Heroes. I hate javelin bots.
The last Special Stage is murder on your sanity.
Finished. All of it. Liked the return of the Zone mix ending credits.
sonicxblaze plz thx omg lol bbq

(Takes a step back)
Nooooooooo.....
Ive had the game for about 4 days now, was able to pick it up and play it a bit in the past 2 days finally since i had to work. This game actually gives me some hope finally. i mean the advance games wernt too bad, but they did get annoying, especailly the specail stages. i hate when they try to make things look 3D with 2D graphics, it totally messes me up. but i LOVE the special stages in rush. if you mess up, cant blame it on the controller! XD plus theyre actually fun. and as for Blaze, holy crap, the first female character i actually LIKE to play as! is sonic team finally starting to come around? lets hope so. as for the rest of the game, i allready beat blaze's story, just finishing sonics now. the music is cool, although at first i didnt like it much, but it did remind me alot of the older music, mostly fomr sonic cd and stuff. so the music is cool, the special stages are much better than the last 10 games or so, (i still think the original special stages were the best) and finall a game where there isnt about 5 different characters soing junk, just sonic alone or blaze alone. thats awesome, just how it should be.
Not been playing much due to online commitments and Shadow, but so far I'm level 4 with Sonic and 2 with Blaze, 2 Chaos Emeralds earned.
It's actually pretty dang hard, there's a bit in level 3 where you're stuck on a moving platform where boulders and enemies keep dropping which always kills me. Plus my reactions just AREN'T fast enough for Blaze's missions where enemies are a few seconds after landing on a platform, I know if I tap DASH they'll be killed but I usually spot them after I've been hit x.x
Deceptively hard little game and the level design is up to scratch. This is old skool Sonic with the speed of Advance and it's own unique flair.

(Sigh of relief)
I may actually get a DS now...
Head and Coat = Cool. Rest is a bit dull. I have to admit might get a DS soon. Mind you I wanted one for Wario Ware but now Mario Kart, Advance Wars: DS and Sonic Rush. Hmmm Blue or Pink... Nintendo they got the girl gamer thing all zipped up.
Why does he need those green visors if he has blue shades covering his eyes already?
Same reason Eggman does... for IR vision or anything else he's made them capable of, and the slight extra cool added when he puts them on.
^^^^Neat.
Offtopic: What happened to The Sonic Official Art Archive? The site's been down for quite a while now. Has it moved?
Mirror's still there. Give Lycos the finger when it comes to JS or its ugly crap will invade yer screen.
Yeah, I know. It hasn't been updated in quite some time. The real site's much further along.
Oh. D:
Game Central (Channel 4 Teletext Page 305-09) reviewed Sonic Rush. They said that since the classic Mega Drive games this is the best but the level design isn't as good as the oldies but it is a triumph of 2D over 3D. 8/10.

You certianly aren't kidding about that.
The game is excellent, in my opinion. The major flaw is that Sonic and Blaze are far too similar in gameplay.
Is there anyone here who just plain dislikes the game? I'd be interested to know.
THE GOGGLES THEY DO NOTHING
Actually it's
MY EYES, THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING!
But I'll let it slide.
o.o
Okay then.
I'm torn between calling hom Neggman, which rips off Neopets, or NeggaEgga, which sounds alright. So I'll use that.
Er...
Grey moustache?
I'm not convinced...
Why would it suddenly change? Did the guy invent a faulty time machine, or something?
That's Nega Eggman (Eggman Nega), the plot of Sonic Rush is that Blaze and Eggman Nega come from another dimension with the Sol Emeralds, and Blaze is searching to find them all and return home, while Sonic tracks down the mysterious duo who appeared.
Notice Nega wears Old Skool (Nu'ised version) clothes. Apparently he's well-spoken, regal and meaner than his counterpart. I've only spoken to him once and he seems to be very insistant on the title Lord Eggman Nega. But I'll call him Nega Eggman because it sounds less stupid 😀
I just call him Eggman 2 since I keep misspronouncing his name and accidently said N word. My black friend hit me because of that. Anyway a friend is going to let borrow his DS and Sonic Rush today. So I going to play it for the first time.
YO EGGMAN %!##@, FO SHIZZLE XD That's one weird mental image. XD
Woah, that's censored? o.o
