it was most likely something like a Developer copy, probably...
Yeah, that fought crossed by mind after posting.
I hope this turns out to be a Miyamoto Delay rather than a Sakurai Delay. The operative difference between those two, of course, is that when Miyamoto delayed Ocarina of Time, it was for the better whereas when Masahiro Sakurai delayed Brawl, it was for the worse*.
It's gratifying to think that, if only for a moment, someone in that corporation is putting the brakes on a project in which they're investing for the sake of improvement. I only wish this kind of mentality had been grasped a few years ago; it certainly could've made NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams a fair sight better. This is some of the best news for which one could have hoped.
*Alright, I know I'm in the minority on this, but the point I'm making is that there are good delays and bad ones...Melee still wipes the floor with Brawl though.
The fact that they've delayed this gives me a lot of hope for this game. This is honestly one of the best moves they've made in a while.
Rapid, just out of curiosity why do you think Brawl's delay was a bad idea?
Technically it would be an Eiji Aonuma delay.
Rapid, just out of curiosity why do you think Brawl's delay was a bad idea?
People from the general public who had playtested Brawl in its development observed that the game basically had Melee's physics. However, the development team, for whatever reason, modified the physics engine afterward and gave it the comparatively floaty effect. The change came around the last time the game was delayed. Those people, like me, who preferred Melee's physics, question why the game changed at a comparatively late point in the development cycle to a physics engine that offered less control than the preceding engine.
If it aint broke don't fix it. Basically.
But with Sonic 4. I say delay as much as you feel necessary.
I think they're gonna take this time to incorporate, maybe, classic Sonic design, and possibly some other things that fans have been wanting. Totally the un-Sega thing to do, but good.
They won't change sonic's design in-game - that would be a stupid move to appease the more ridiculous of the fanbase, for the most part, and a needless cosmetic-specific one that really doesn't need being done.
after the massive pandemonium and people calmed down. Some people wanted to have classic Sonic as at least an extra unlockable. Yeah its ultimately a superfluous and useless add on. But even I feel Sonic Team is being mean by tempting me with using classic sonic in the loading screen.
And then Sega adds it in. Then release comes around.
Fans: $@^@%& I wanted Sonic 2 Sonic not #$^@#%@ Sonic 1 Sonic
vice versa, etc
Sure, make it an option as an anniversary bonus...but don't suddenly cave in because of fan whining.
If EVERY company did that, we'd be far worse off with other game delays and complaints...fan service should have a limit point!
I don't think I'd have minded the pinball thing...but oh well. Not happy about the delay but if it means an improved game, good!
You're not happy about the delay? But delay is good if game turns out better!
Off-topic: EpiSonic, I moved your other topic with the link you've just posted to the bin seeing as you've also posted the same link in here, and it's more relevant in here.
On-topic: I'll wait til I play it to pass judgement on it.

If you're going to post impressions, try to be sure it's not over 3 months old. And most likely already somewhere in this thread.
Some gameplay footage leading up to E3. More of Splash Hill and Ken Balough speaking about physics modifications.
A really, really very positive preview of Sonic 4! He even congratulates Sega on making a good Sonic game.
Obviously he's on the take.
It feels very good, fast and not too fast at the same time. Using the homing attack to swing on vines and boosting the momentum was pretty cool
and it actually made those portions of the game feel a bit better. Several times in the game I needed the homing attack to reach really high areas, so
it didn't feel useless or make the game too easy. The physics of it are pretty good, but I still walked up a very steep hill from a stand still and thought
that was odd. Besides that I am looking forward to it.
The Wii and 360 playes identicle, I'm sure that goes for the PS3 as well it just wasnt there. But the color in the wii version was so washed out, and Sonic's model looked so granny it was a real turn off. The Sega rep thought it might be the tv's but they were all the same size and brand, the settings could have been off to make the color look like that I suppose. But I played the awesome Sonic colors and everything was very smooth pretty, and that was a huge 3D game, I have no idea why Sonic's model in this wii version really looked like a load of barnicles. Had fun though.
"A load of barnicles." xD! Man i'm so jealous. I really want to try this out before purchasing. It looks so good, that it almost has to not be as good as it seems. lol But the PS3 version wasn't there...I can say from the Bayonetta fiasco last year...Sonic 4 will look[and probably have load issues] inferior on the PS3. It'll probably be washed out and stuff; like you described the Wii version. Just throwing this out there so people aren't surprised if and when it is like that. But once again, thanks for the impressions.
Considering its only a downloadable title I shouldn't imagine the differences between the 360 and PS3 versions being anything noticeable or major, especially to the extent of Bayonetta. o.o

Ha! How appropriate for you to mention that game. I finally got it today. 😛
---you were the one who brought it up o.o
all according to keikaku
---you were the one who brought it up o.o
o_o? That was to Psx, i'm assuming?
I can say from the Bayonetta fiasco last year...
He's talking to you, because you brought the subject up...
Right you are. I'm telling you, I just type stuff...I don't remember what I say. lol
Site updated! New sceenshots and music for Lost Labyrinth Zone as well as "new" badniks in the form of Batbot (Sonic 3), Burrowbot, and Orbinaut! However, still no release date other than late 2010. I'm digging LLZ's music and the screens of Sonic holding a torch, which I think is real neat!
Edit: Also, forgot to mention, they have psuedo-boxart in the corner where the "release" date is at; looks cool!
it looks like a sonic1 remake, but better so i'm guessing sonic 4 episode 2 is gonna be a remake of sonic 2 and so.
btw rayzor when i read you replied to this i got excited cause i knew you'd post more info XD waaaaaaa you're the forum's no.1 data collector
waaaaaaa you're the forum's no.1 data collector
Ha, heh, heh, well I wouldn't say that, but it does help when you frequent three message boards. If one doesn't have new info, you can be sure one of the others probably will.
well i'm guessing one of those 3 isnt this one XD since you help update its info. thanks btw rayzor. it so super cool of you. i feel relaxed knowing you'd let us know when sonic 4 or sonic colors is out <hugs rayzor> we depend on you man! stay forever here <brings chains>
LOL, don't worry, Mada, I don't think I'll ever leave here; It's been my internet home for 7 years now! The place I get most of my info is from the BumbleKing Forums although I get some from the GameFAQs forums too.
ha ha glad to hear that sweety XD <puts chains away> guess i wont need those.
when i read that site "bumbleking" i thought it was burger king for a second there my heart stopped XD i'm so suspicous of burger king thanks to the spam threads.
thanks for the link btw <hugs>
Heh, no prob! Check it out and join if ya like!
Sega releases a blog for Sonic 4! The thing that really caught my eye and I'm sure most of you will be pleased to see is the blogger saying, "We’re happy to confirm that the entire level (Lost Labyrinth Act 2) has now been revamped and finalized for consoles, this time featuring a new torch mechanic that adds to the exploration and the platforming (Yes, Sonic is more than just speed!) of the act." Also, they said the minecart is only at the end of the act, and they've made several changes both big and small.
Is that a good wow or a bad one? *is kinda afraid of the answer*
...I'd say it was a bad wow.
The comments on that video summed it up completely - the game is still failing.
Heck yea Ray! You da man! But it's been 7 years for you too? Maybe I knew that? >.>
But ummm...wow that video really makes me hate the homing attack in 2D Sonic. I honestly wish they had gone the way of MM9. They didn't even need HD...16 Bit would've worked fine. Why can't they just...stick to the formula of the 1-3 series. SEGA/ST...what is your problem? Ugh! And that part on the arc of that 90 degree hill. WHAT! They stopped! And proceeded in spin dashing. O.O
*weeps sorrowful tears*
Bad wow. I love the laugh when they go through the corkscrew.
The hope is that this is just the E3 build and they are still working on it.
Well, since it seems nobody noticed last page, yes, they are still working on it; perhaps that is why it still has no release date.
D'aww! How dare you jump in here with your voice of reason and all this nonsense! 😛 You'e right though...I mean we[myself included] do whine and complain about any tiny little thing that might not even be an issue once the game is released. This video for instance...how likely are you to even get there. You know? He just happened to be going at the awkward velocity to get sruck on the excessive curvature of the landscape. Chances are...there are other paths...one below and one above that might take you completely away from that awkward hill. I mean...Sonic 2 Emerald Hill Zone actually had a few places like that. Mushroom Hill as well, I believe. I'm still excited and will still get this game. I'll be glad about it too!
Oh and thanks Ray. Maybe it'll get pushed back til next year. I wouldn't mind, honestly.
In what way is this 'what we want?'
I never asked for badly programmed speedpad orgies with recycled badniks. They just made an HD Sonic Advance and gave it a desperation title. Other than the title how is this any more than what they have been doing the whole time? I do give them some credit for finally delaying to improve, which they haven't done, like, ever, not even in the mega drive era, but their history doesn't suggest that they know what to improve. They've been churning these sorts of Sonic Advance type games for years and if anything they've just been making them more and more like this.
fans do is
throw feces in their faces.
I call it returning the favor.
So, does anything in that blog I've linked give you any hope?
Yes. They said that Sonic is not just speed. They've made references to things like momentum and multiple paths before though, and ended up only using them occasionally. For example Sonic Heroes was touted as multiple path equipped, and it did have 1 or 2 places that were just like classic branching paths in 3D, such as the 3 way junction at multiple elevations in Seaside Hill, but those places were rare and mostly in early zones, supporting what I've said about Sonic Heroes: it had most of the right ideas but was rushed to bleep, probably due to the Sammy merger. So we will see. There is a chance that Sonic 4 will work, but I'm not going to assume it will, since most of what has been shown about it suggests that the philosophy is more about superficiality (recycled badniks, the title, expecting me to be impressed by Sonic only) than any lessons learned.
*Sigh* Allow me to reiterate;
Fans: "Whaa, Sega, make us a 2D Sonic game just like the old ones!"
Sega: "Okay!"
Fans: "WAT IS DIS. DIS IS JUS' LIKE OLD ONES. YOU LAZY."
I can tell you this; I'd much rather have an HD Sonic Advance (a WONDERFUL series, which stuck to what made Sonic fun in the first place) than another churned out, burned out Sonic Heroes or Shadow the Hedgehog. No matter how anyone justifies it, post SA2 *SUCKS*.
Hence why fans whine for new, old-school, 2D Sonic.
I don't exactly have a reason for the complaining, tho. I mean, if you don't like it, don't want to buy it, and hate everything about it, why do fans still flock to forums, checking for updates?
