I'm loving the top pic (even though it could be just CGI), purely because eggy looks like he's doing some thing evil for a change.
The graphics look amazing, plus it looks old school more than anything (is that a shield??)
From the bottom pic I'm gonna guess this is a follow up to secret rings, purely because of the motion blur movement to the left lke using a Wiimote. Though the graphics look 360ish....O_o
From the following screenshots, it looks as if Eggman defeats Super Sonic in the opening movie.

I've not been keeping up on news, only game I was aware of was the DS RPG.
I'm not quite sure myself yet, but it does look like Secret Rings' spiritual sequel. Hope that's true, cause I don't have the money to bust out for a 360 or PS3.
The secret rings system was great but executed poorly. Very, very poorly. Hopefully they do better this time. Otherwise...

Looks to me as if Eggman has Sonic caught in his trap, which is shown in the following screens to have zapped the power out of him.
I'm a bit dissappointed that some people are already writing this off as BS - just 'cos they're not being provided with a link to the CGI movie that exists on the FTP server where the pics came from. A few people are starting to hastle Aisha ClanClan Prower for it :/
FYI, these shots were released at 720p so that rules out that this is for the Wii seeing that its max hi-quality output is 480p. However, I have a feeling that there may be a downgraded Wii port like what was done with Superstars Tennis or that system may get a completely different game altogether.
That said, unless this game is outsourced to a competant team, prepare for disappointment!

This is quite possibly one of the most creative, quirky things I've seen in Sonic in a long time, I for one am very interested in this.
Wow. I want to be excited, but I'm afraid it's just going to end up like the other games.
Visually it's impressive, but we'll see. I hope it doesn't follow suit with Rings, because I kinda like having full control over Sonic.
The graphics are SOOOOOOOO much better stylistically than SonicNEXT. They remind me of Super Mario Galaxy.
And LOL @ that wereSonic. I have to agree, it's so bizarre it's actually good. And best of all it suggests a quirky story. (PLEASE NO SHADOW)
Also I like that Eggman defeated Super Sonic presumably to start the game.

I smelled the crap coming a mile away as soon as SonicNEXT was revealed but this looks much more promising.
Kind of remind me of Darkspine Sonic from the Secret Rings. Also the rumor is that this game is PS3 exclusive which might explain the third screenshot that Toby posted.
I like how Sonic's in-game facial expression is "I am enjoying myself" instead of "check me out, I am Sonic the freaking hedgehog. What do you have to say about it? As if I cared, whatever."

The heavy emphasis on grinding and reverse view camera suggests bad gameplay, though 2.5D may redeem it.
Is it just me or is Sonic's design like a best of both worlds combo of Genesis Sonic and SA Sonic? He seems a bit fatter.
I really like the cartoony appearance. And that monster looks very similar to the SEED on Phantasy Star Universe.
I agree completely with everything stated about the styling and appearance. All that white makes me think of Mirror's Edge. With the detail on Sonic's model and the quality of the textures I'd say it's entirely possible that there's a Wii version that looks exactly the same besides the resolution difference.
Werewolf Sonic, though? No. No no no. The idea makes my stomach curdle and boil. This just had to be leaked under the light of a full moon, didn't it?

Like I said, it's the very idea that I have an issue with. Everything else I like and it's not like I'm not going to give it a chance, but Sonic being associated with werewolves or actually becoming one = no no NO KILL IT BEFORE IT MATURES. I'm not gonna pretend something I don't like the sound of isn't there just because the rest is cool.
What makes you think he going to turn into a werewolf? That picture isn't very especific in what he turn to.

Anyway, visually I'm stunned, I thought SEGA didn't have it in them to create something this beautiful with Sonic anymore, thank god I'm wrong.
However, I'm not sold, I'll keep my eye on this but there's no way I'm counting on it to be a return to form until there's a demo out.

Now where have I heard that before? Certainly not before Sonic 2K6, Shadow, Sonic Heroes, etc. were released! Nope not at all!(sarcasm)
This game looks much better than Sonic 2K6 and Sonic's model is cute, but pretty graphics don't mean crap if this game is plague with the same problems the last few 3D Sonic games had. Thus, I don't have much hope for this game. And were-Sonic sucks.
Also, like I said there will be probably be a Wii version that look downgraded from these shots.

So yea...haven't heard anything on this til maybe 7 min. ago. I'm somewhat excited and overwhelmed. I don't think i'll be following this game though. I'm going to look at it at E3 and hopefully a release date, wait til that day, buy it, and enjoy it. No need getting involved in the hype...it's led to utter disappointment in the past concerning "Sega's flagship". But I will say this...if this does end up being for real...and not a "hoax"... it does look sexy. Very sexy. It's like the Alessandra Ambrosio of games.
Why are a few folks here saying based on these leaked shots, it's for the Wii. There is not Wii game(not even the best looking ones: Galaxy and Brawl) that look as great as these shots. This is even a huuuuge leap from what Secret Rings looked like and a slightly larger leap from what Sonic 2K6 looked also.
Not to mention that these shots are from a HD output, so unless Nintendo are planning on releasing a HD Wii system this year, then I'm calling that the screencaps are from a PS360 game.

Now you can argue that from an artistic standpoint that SMG has the upper-hand, but you are fooling yourself if you think Galaxy's graphics are technically superior to the shots we are seeing from Sonic Unleashed.
I cannot see how anyone would think turning sonic into some sort of werehog is a good idea.

On another forum, someone mentioned how much better it would be if the game was mostly 2D gameplay with open 3D areas when fighting bosses.

The video reminds me of Sonic Rivals crossed with Secret Rings. I mean it looks nice, but again it doesn't tell me if the game will be enjoyable from a gameplay stand point or not--assuming Sonic Team are the onese making this game. Plus, there is still that whole lame were-hog thing and no doubt, there will probably be an onslaught of a "sh***y" friend or two that we will be forced to play as in the months ahead for the full reveal of the game.
After the disappointment that was Secret Rings (not to mention Heroes), I can't seem to get excited for a Sonic game. I mean sure the RPG is interesting, but only because a 3rd party is doing it. And even then I'm not 'buying' interested... If the reviews are good I might be download it and see.
This actually looks very promising. I've been wanting to play a 3-D Sonic that wasn't SA2B or Sonic Heroes.
I'd refused to play anything beyond that (though I'm thinking I'll give SATSR a try soon as I get a Wii), but this actually looks pretty promising. I still wonder if there's any video footage out there pertaining to the CGI screenshots of Sonic getting totally owned.
We'll still have to wait and see though. I hope they don't decide to release this like, this fall. :<<br /> I'm really hoping there's no new character introduced either. Wasn't there like, a new character for just about every Sonic game since Shadow first arrived and everything was still going way downhill?
