Next time you post, PLEASE reread what you plan on posting. It would cut down on all the spelling and grammar errors. Also, not all your posts need ellipses.

On topic, Ian wouldn't lie about this sort of thing, let alone lie at all. If it were true, he wouldn't have said anything to begin with, as contractually he can't spoil anything.

I agree with Deus. I want Nackies back....At one time I resented the creation of Rouge because I felt that Nack could have easily done her job. But meh. I've come to like Rouge. Shes one of the few characters in the game that I feel isn't stupid.

You know... I thought Sonic holding a sword on the cover of NP was fake, so who knows anymore? Heck let's bring Bean and Bark back into the game series while we're at it!

I'd say the Bean and Bark duo needs their own series of beat-em-ups like Dynamite Dux.

You know you would play it.

New video from the Games Convention.
* stupid people getting in way *

The video confirms Chip/ Tip is in the game but he only seems to appear at the end of the stage.

Edit- Sonic Stadium has the screen shots of the Wii version.

Here's another video, that's a little higher quality and people don't get in the way. The people look cartoony at the beginning, and Sonic actually watches his score rise. Credit goes to Toby for finding this.

Yep, still a hold up(right)-fest with occasional QTE.

And egad, Sonic is too close to the camera in some sections.

Au contraire, Ashide. All of the Boost Rings that are in the air and out of reach from Sonic's current path pretty much confirm upper pathways, and there's quite a few alternate routes to take at the start of the stage simply by choosing to go left or right.

I think the Wii graphics look awesome; course, some of the shots didn't look that good but the ones that do are beautiful.

IGN Hands-On with Unleashed. Seems the demo have problem with the framerate on both Sonic and Were Sonic stages. However the writer does mention that Sonic Team is still working on on the Were Sonic stages.

Yeah, that's where the QTE comes in.

Except that doesn't discount the possibility that some of them are accquired by other methods, or, yannow, taking the alternate routes that are presented in third person perspective. And what's more, it looked like you could go different places depending on how you launched Sonic out of that launcher.

GameSpy Hands On. Again it seems the framerate was the problem.

Graphics are good, controls are perfect, but the framerate needs some more adjustment. During the daytime levels we played in Leipzig it sometimes fell. Still, we're pretty sure that Sega will finally give us a good Sonic game again, and we'll know for sure when Unleashed hits the shelves this fall

The controls are perfect?

Perfect controls? In a Sonic game? Surely you jest!

1. Perfect controls? In a modern Sonic game? Impossible.

2. Framerate? It won't get fixed. What they played is all Sonic Team is going to work on it.

But wait, what if Sega is just showing a demo with bad framerate to fool us all? Yeah, probably not, but hey we can hope, but I am so happy to hear that the controls are perfect! Maybe there will finally be a Sonic game that others besides me can enjoy!! Also, add in Shadonics' !

I'm ok with the hold-up-fest, Ashide. Genesis days were hold-right-fests for the most part with some exploration.

The Wii version doesn't look too bad at all, but I'm not sure which version I will end up getting until I get some more details on the actual differences besides the amount of levels and eye candy between different versions.

And I'm still waiting to hear about the waggle-licious mini games. There is still the possibility of those being thrown in at the last minute.

Are you kidding me? There was more platforming in the Genesis games than just freakin' holding-right until you get to the goal. Sonic 1 and Sonic CD especially.

This game looks like just to be holding up(right) with QTE and none of the momentum of the Genesis games in the past.

Hell, I noticed that some of those aerial boost rings?

Are at the start of the level. So... if it's just "hold right", they're there for no reason at all.

Alright geeze, I made a generalization. I'm honestly going to be happy with this game if Sonic's levels consist of holding up forever. Were-hog will supply a break in that.

Ashide you're trying making it sound as if Sonic has at one time been anything more than a hold-right fest. Honestly.

Ok fine. It was hold right and the jump button. Can't get more complex than that, eh?

But I couldnt trust Sega enough to come up with a real 3D representation of the older game's levels. So I'd rather live with this linear style of gameplay than have a botched up attempt at a "classic" level.

Yes. That's what I've been trying to say. I'm accepting this game (even before I play it), because there is a certain security I feel with the linear style. But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed anyway.

Please get past levels such as Marble Zone and Labyrinth Zone that way. You'll go very far in that. The generalization in that the old games was just simple holding right-fest is just as bad as almost everyone think that Sonic was always about just speed, speed, and only more SPEED in the past.

But I couldnt trust Sega enough to come up with a real 3D representation of the older game's levels. So I'd rather live with this linear style of gameplay than have a botched up attempt at a "classic" level.

Arguably, this seems like a botched up attempt for a classic feel--well, half of it anyway.

Adding on to what Ashide said, try going through the likes of Scrap Brain Act 3, Chemical Plant, Mystic Cave, Metropolis, Wing Fortress, Hydrocity, Marble Garden, Carnival Night, Flying Battery, Sandopolis, Lava Reef, Sky Sanctuary, and Death Egg (S&K) with the jump-and-hold-right method, and see how far you get.

At best, you'll hit a dead end. At worst, you end up dead, most likely due to a conveniently placed pit o' doom. Wing Fortress is notorious for that.

Speaking of pits of doom, I noticed there were a few in the video posted by Shadonic. Looks like Sega hasn't learned, have they?

Ok then. But everybody has been hollering speed and thats what Sonic Team is delivering. And I guess everything else will show up with Werehog. And Ashide, Do you mean you think that Werehog is the botched half of the game? Or are normal Sonic's levels botched because they are so linear?

The Werehog sections really do look like how Sega would do Ristar in 3D now. Only with a Sonic-fied werewolf-hedgehog thing.

Also shouldn't the term be Hedge-wolf or something? Seeing as "Were" means man?

The regular Sonic levels is the botched side. WereSonic is the REALLY DO NOT WANT side.

The regular Sonic levels are botched depending on who you ask. WereSonic seems to be across the board No-noville. Bleh.

The Sonic World Adventure website has new and very impressive pics of the China level.

Another Hands On from ONM.

Unfortunately the Wii version wasn't working but I was assured that other than the obvious graphical limitations, it's exactly the same game as the 360 version with exactly the same levels, so I played that instead. I can't talk about the graphics obviously, but the controls are great: it reminded me of the first Sonic Adventure because you actually have some control over Sonic now and it's not so frustrating. Finally, a good Sonic 3D platformer! Um, except the werehog sections. I didn't like those so much. They seemed too basic and slow. Anyway, not bad at all.

More positive Hands On. This time from X08 event.

First attendee hands ons

While stalking the main floor I got to see the new Sonic Unleashed game, and I must say...IMPRESSED as well, I have pretty much hated every sonic game that has been in the 3D world(as do many other people) but this game, changed all that. It was what I like to say a 2D game in a 3D world, you never once lost the feel of the old 2D games, but the worlds are beautiful and definitely 3D. This will be the first Sonic game that I will actually buy in almost 10 years

Second attendee hands ons

  • Highlights of the event were UNLEASHED! Specifically Sonic Unleashed and Star Wars: Force Unleashed. Get ready for the first good Sonic game in a long time people - this thing is SWEET. The day levels are fast and the gameplay is smooth. The transitions from 3D to 2D are downright seamless, and there's no stopping and starting like previous games. At night it turns into a combo heavy action game as Sonic takes wolf form, and is equally as killer. [*]
  • [/list:u:75a102c96a]

Btw the demo that was at X08 event was different from the one GC 2008. This one feature the China level which can be see here (3:08)

Wow, the cynacism is pretty thick in this thread.

I admit, I am disappointed and depressed that the initial "fully 3d Sonic Rush!?" idea seems to have faded away, but it still looks like fairly fast paced fun, sparing the were sections which I have little interest in.

I still want to love this game and if semi-favorable reviews from magazines which have no love for Sonic and know how bad it's gotten are happening... I'm ready to at the very least keep my ear to the ground.

But I understand skepticism. I paid £40 for Shadow too.

I've known about Sonic Unleashed for at least a few months so far (I haven't been keeping up with the latest news about Sonic games for at least a few years now) and I have to admit, I'm STILL not fully sold on this whole 'werehog' idea. However, since I'm an eternal optimist, I still have some hope for this game and that it might just be as fun as the classic old-school Sonic games I grew up with..... or at least almost as fun anyway. I don't have a lot of hope for this game though, as the vast majority of Sonic games that've been released for almost a whole decade so far have been totally lacklustre in my opinion. But I'll reluctantly give this game a chance. Oh, and bring back Hyper Sonic. Hyper Sonic was EPIC. DON'T EVEN TRY TO DENY IT, MAN!!!!! YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE!!!!!

Hyper Sonic was a means to an ends. After they had extended Sonic 3 into two games, they had two sets of special stages, which meant two sets of emeralds which meant they needed two Super Sonic's.

Given that there's never been a circumstance for us to need to earn more than 7 Emeralds and thusly Super Sonic, there's no need for Hyper.

This said there's no need for the Secret Rings "Dark Sonic" thing either, besides there being no Emeralds in that game.
