Pics or it didn't happen.
Saw the game guide at Gamestop today. It seems the Wii version is missing one stage: Empire City. It name wasn't in the index and there was no info on the inside. I don't' remember very well but I also think the Tornado stages are missing too. Oddly enough Sonic's entourage is pretty small compare to the previous games. On the positive side the stages look good even thought they seem to lack enemies. Also the final battle looks epic(Chip vs DG FTW). Oh and Eggman Land looks pretty cool or should I say hot .
Really? When I went to my gamestop today to pick up another game they didn't have it. The Gamestop website also lists the release date for the guides to be the same day as the game. Are you sure you saw it? As Toby said, some evidence would be nice...
I guess the two Gamestops could have a different inventory. If this is all true: then no Empire City or Tornado stages for Wii owners? That's disappointing if it is true. Assuming you are telling the truth, out of curiosity, who is Sonic's entourage in this game? We know Tails, Amy, Shadow, and Knuckles have been confirmed, but could you spoiler tag anybody else who is?

Sadly I didn't buy it since it was Wii guide and I am interested on 360. They release the guide early here Puerto Rico so I manage to get a sneak peek on few things.
Spoilers about who joins Sonic's quest.
Tails and Amy are only ones in the game since they have profiles in the guide. Knuckles, Shadow and rest are M.I.A. They are not even mention on the guide.
I have bad news nintendo power gave it an 8. Thats not bad but I sadly don't think people will give it the same reviews. I hope this game is fun.
Nintendo Power gives every Sonic game an 8. Xp
So would anyone even recommend getting the Wii version or should I just wait to get a PS3 and get it on that?
Why not get both? Seeing as the Wii/PS2 and 360/PS3 version have different stuffs you get to experience the same game in differents ways.
Sonic visits Empire City ... 360 style.
Ah yes, a New York style city stage. Sonic running down that skyscraper in that clip I saw was SO very epic. It reminded me of Speed Highway, but in a more pumped up kinda way. God, I hope this game is gonna be as awesome as it seems. Hopefully, it will redeem the Sonic franchise so that it can be reborn like the mythical phoenix. Either way though, I'll be buying this game.
Did anyone else read the "World of Sonic" blog that Deus linked to? It's Sachiko Kawamura (she worked on character design with the Chao in SA2, you might remember her cute drawings from Japanese blogs back around that time) talking about visual stage design.
"If you look closely at the environment, you'll see all sorts of things, like butterflies amidst the flowers, fish swimming just under the surface of the water, windmills spinning around... you can even hear old men singing in the shower if you get close enough to the window. There's a ton of little things to find, so we hope that gamers take the time to take things slow, every now and again, and see what's there in this world we've built."
That's so awesome! I hope I can enjoy the sight seeing as much as I did in SA1 - I'd waste so much time on that back in the day (actually... I revisited it a few days ago. Shame the visuals are so dated now, but it was still fun). That game made me want to visit the locales the game's environments were based on, so perhaps that'll happen again with this world adventure.
It'd be cool if they hid emblems or medals and such to find during your exploring, too.
Ahh no, i have not read that blog. But you're right Cyber...that does sound super awesome. Go Sonic! *prays this is THE definitive game of the franchise*
That's strange; It's scheduled to arrive at GameStops on the 21st.
Amazon. com has it for the 20th. They even sent me an email about it and said I should recieve my copy next Monday.
According to the UK website Mazuri stage is also missing from the Wii/PS2 versions.
Edit- A new commercial.
Griffith sounds pretty darn good.
At least, that one line. XD Can't wait to hear more.
If the 360 version is coming out on the 24th that would also mark the 16th anniversary of the American release of Sonic 2!!!
Does anyone ever visit this site? This guy is all playing Sonic Unleashed, and he's fleshing out some details on a few things. He seems to love it thus far.

I really wanna get me one of them keychains!! Awesome!

Actually, I hear no difference; I just think most people are finally getting use to him.
Cut levels? Guess it's the 360 version for me, then.
Yeah, while I hate the wait, I've always wanted the 360 version just for the graphics, etc., but I may, may, get the Wii version later on as well.
I MUST HAVE THAT T-SHIRT
New screenshots of Empire City, Holoska and Adabat.
Btw the Sonic City Blog has been updated with NPC info.
all the GO's you hear in that commercial are actually the japanese voice. But the "This is new" line was actually in english lol.
He play the 360 version. Looking at it it seems the Hub is the game weakest point.
Reviewers ALWAYS complain about the HUB worlds in Sonic games. Nothing new. XD
Oh please that is NOT a swastika
Secret Nazi Sonic Game?
HEIST MEIN TAG, HEIST MEIN TAG! *Headbangs*
Seriously, though. We're at the release date and still there's no major outcry of the game's suckage. If it stays this way for another week, I'm buying.
A review that I'm satisfied with. In their opinion, Sonic Team nearly nailed a good Sonic experience, except ....
I hope the 360/PS3 daytime stages are just as good, or better. I'll definitely buy this game just to play those stages.
*Sigh* I had always feared the Werehog section would drag the game down, still. Running stages are well loved by reviewer, so my reason for buying has unchanged.
Anybody who expected the Werehog's levels to be reviewed well, whether they are good or not, were setting themselves up for disappointment, I say. 8D
What Toby said...I don't think anyone should've been that hopeful. *chuckles* Und Craigey!! Ich sprache Deutsch auch. Hmm...ein bisschen wirklich. Heh Anywho...Christmas list...Sonic Unleashed...yep.
"Cousin Itt, I'm glad to see you're doing so well!"
"aweiswahsildwwusjdaskohee-hee-heeowueofowiuf!"
I can live with a 7.2 from IGN. I personaly think the werehog levels look fun, so I think I'll really enjoy Sonic Unleashed.
Game Informer gives Unleashed a 6.5. Be advise the same guy, Ben Reeves, gave Banjoo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts a 8.25. So you should take his review with a grain of salt. Plus some of his complains sound stupid (they always gonna have voices, not mention Jason Griffith has improve from the previous games, so stop complaining).
Can't say the reviews of the Werehog playstyle are surprising. I was somewhat hopeful that it wouldn't feature especially prominently in the game, but according to IGN, not as such. Even so, GI's classification of it as "a poor man's God of War" doesn't strike me as particularly unpleasant since God of War was the apotheosis of repetitive beat-down gameplay, and anything only in its ballpark still has promise. The most important thing I've picked up is the lack of complaints about the 3D platforming elements, so ideally I take that as a sign that glitch-tastic flooring and dodgy camera work are truly a thing of the past. If that is the case, do want.
I'll hold off on the purchase for now, if only because I can't afford it. The value had better be worth the price.

Cause clearly BK: N&B is a bad game because 'DURRR it's not @ platformer'
You know - I've been looking at this impartially rather than immediate gut reactions and I have to point out several things:
The Sonic portions of the game actually look and feel pretty damn good. There seems to be a bit of a learning curve with using the drift, but its nothing that is impossible unlike Sonic 2K6. The Sonic portion feels like a natural progression of Sonic in 3D than many of the past Sonic 3D games as of late. However, the progression is small. It's not leaps and bounds like the switch between Mario 64 to Sunshine to Galaxy - but there is a progression there and to deny that would be pretty jaded and stupid.
The Werehog portions of the game however, I am iffy about. I'll be honest and say that of the "$*+%%* friends"- the only ones I care about are Tails, Knuckles, Amy (and on RARE OCCASIONS)Shadow. As far as Sonic games go nowadays, they are considered the core five to many fans and seemingly Sega themselves. Having said that, I cannot help but think that the Werehog would have been much better recieved if it had been Knuckles instead. I can see WHY they wanted to use Sonic and Sonic only, but after having made Knuckles thoroughly boring in 3D (Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2) and watered down in Heroes - the Werehog gameplay almost feels like it was MADE for Knuckles given his history as a character and his fists among everything else. I mean - this feels like Knuckles should almost BE the Werehog to tell ya the truth. I think the Werehog drags the game down, but nowhere near say Heroes or definately 06 levels. The Werehog stages do have that repetetiveness to them however. Like, brawlers where you're concentrating more on combos and hits than platforming and other things mixed into it. I'd have preferred that you keep running and fight along the way rather than stopping to be attacked by mobs followed by points of empty spaces. Mix in the exploring WITH the fighting, maybe? I think this is where the Werehog fails and I'm almost expecting it to be this way on the 360 version. Here's hoping its not as abundant there.
Keep in mind here that I am only talking about the Wii version, not the 360 since it hasn't been released yet. Last I heard, in reference to the abundance of Werehog stages on the lower end systems - Sonic Team said that the initial balance was always 60-40, and they were always talking about the 360 version, so it's probobly more Day sonic levels in that version, and more Werehog levels in the Dimps version.
I'm going to strike a guess that the Werehog levels are there so that day Sonic's levels don't feel repetetive though. And while that is something to certainly look at, I don't know if it was necessarily the right decision to make. I am also dissapointed at the lack of the promised Tornado stages in the Wii version, but again - I have ALWAYS gotten the feeling that the 360 version is to be the TRUE version of the game based on how Sega has promoted it and many other things. I think judging whether this game is a success or a failure based on the Wii version in those regards MIGHT be a bit unfair, though I must admit dissapointment that the Wii version will have these problems that the 360 version may (I SAID MAY) not.
I think releasing the Wii version before the 360 version was a mistake. I think they shoulda just did the same thing they did with Sonic 06 and Secret Rings. Make a completely seperate game for Wii owners (which will be Black Knight), so they don't have to buy a watered down version. I can understand them wanting to be eager of what they have done though since many Sonic fans do play the series more on the Wii I think. This wii game isn't perfect but it most certainly IS NOT Sonic 2K6 or even Shadow the Hedgehog for that matter in terms of just plain SUCK- and for that I am glad. I would even go so far as to argue that it's more "in control" than Sonic Heroes.
As far as voices go, I think Jason Griffith has definately improved. I am STILL no fan of the 4Kids voice actors, but even Amy Palant's Tails is not ear-screechingly awful in many of the cutscenes as it once was. Eggman was always the only consistently decent voice actor IMHO. The remainder of the voices I can do with or without. Chip's voice is NOT what I was expecting at all - but looking at the alternatives (say for instance, someone high pitched, squeaky, and annoying like the Omochao tutor - which is what I WAS expecting) I'm almost glad they didn't go that route even if this outcome still wasn't quite the best.
I think people may be making snap judgements a bit too quickly in some cases, because there have been many Sonic games that were handled with many more problems than just this IMO. If the 360 version shows any improvements over the obvious fallacies of the Wii/PS2 version then I think we may have what could be the first decent 3D Sonic game since the original Adventure games. Not GREAT. Not OMGWTFBBQ. But certainly more playable than past ones have been. But that also remains to be seen on just how different the 360 version is. It may look pretty, but Sonic 2K6 was a well polished turd also...
Wow....now I'm desperate to hear what Chip sounds like...

Wii playthrough here. Includes cutscenes.
Tricia is very upset that the music sounds orchestrated rather than rock. Was Jun unavailable?
I'm in favor of it, though think it shines of an obvious attempt to be more like Mario. Also, the first stage is like a bastard child of Soleana and Delfino.
Holy mother of God.....Jason must have gotten a pay raise or something. And Eggman sounds wonderful.
Wow you're right Chip's voice is the last thing I would have thought going by his japanese voice XD
XD Sonic says 'Piece of Cake'.....he should never say that ever again.
Interesting. Chip sounds a lot Silver. I guess they must share the same VA.
Oh god. Pete Capella?
I'm actually pleased with Chip's voice though....but I don't think thats Pete Capella...
Hahaha! Yea, it's Pete. I like it though, I think he did a great job as Chip. As did everyone else in this game.
That Pete Capella alright. In this part of the playthrought when Chip appears, he sounds a lot like Silver.
Edit- 360 Launch trailer and Wii Launch trailer.
O_____o what....happened? Did the fairy god mother stop by at 4kids recording studio and threaten them all with rabies infested dress making rats?
