Forbidden Forest?
Kinky?
Hmm sorry. I don't know why that didn't work. But it's number 2 of the 10 screenshots. It doesn't remind me of Knothole because there are trees :cuckoo but because the trees are so high up like Knothole was in the comics from time to time.
The level with Trees reminds me of a Donkey Kong level. Though I understand how it can be sort of Knothole-ish. If the level has straw and thatch houses then definately. It looks like Sonic has to slide under the gap or else his head'll come off! XD I think thats pretty cool. You're running along and then UH OH! DUCK!
Info from the Play Magazine interview:
~This game (Wii version) won't use the hedgehog engine for the wii version, say engine will only be for the high end console.
~Designers are working as hard as the can to make the wii version identical to the Xbox/version Graphicaly.
~The wii version isn't the main version but it isn't a port eather. (<----- WTF?)
~The wii version isn't been developed by the same people as the xbox version, it is developed by Dimps ( I mean just the stage design, the team is working together)
~ This game will have town levels, you will be able to talk to people. (<---YAYZ)
~Upgrades are get by getting items in the action stages like in sonic adventure 2, includes Wall jumping etc..
~The music is been developed by the Same music director as the one in Sonic rush.
~The music change when you are using the Sonic boost.
~ The development thing is completely different than the one they have been using in, its full of Young gifted people with a passion and lot to prove. (<---- In other words, new meat. Let's see if they know what to do)
~ The wii stages will be completely different than the xbox/ps3 stages. they will have the same themes but will be differently because of the lack of a huge Hard drive on the wii. So even if you have both version you will enjoy something different. (<---- Finally. Buying the same game on two different consoles won't be considered weird )
~To keep the action flowing, you can play as much as you want the actions stages, after you complete them the first time, they won't be any more requirements.
~They will try to use the hedgehog engine to good use, and keep the loading times to a absolute minimum, if any loading at all.
~There's a twist involving eggman en which he will do something so evil, nobody would see it coming, the he will then meet something he fear more than life itself and that will control him, his mother. (<---- This one was considered a joke though. Damnit, I wanna see the woman who gave birth to him!)
~2 new levels were show.
1- was a Paris-like city full of stores and looking lively.
2- Was a concept are of a antique Japanese village, with Dojos and Cascades.
~The story completely revolts about sonic.
~The Lead designer things it will be a cool idea to Release Sonic 06 with just action levels for less loading at a budget price. (<---- In other words, Sonic 06 without the beastality story)
~The Lead designer things it will be a cool idea to Release Sonic 06 with just action levels for less loading at a budget price. (<---- In other words, Sonic 06 without the beastality story)
No. He said he would remove the Adventure Field. He never said anything about changing the story.
Also for interested in seeing the interview along with new screenshots Sonic Stadium has scans.
Look like Sonic wall jumping move is back.
(In other words, Sonic 06 without the beastality story)
I'm sorry, I must have missed the hot hedgehog on human sex in the game. Could you be a dear and point it out for me?
Hmm, I don't know if I'll get both versions or just the 360 version; knowing me, however, I will probably be getting both! ^_^
~The wii version isn't the main version but it isn't a port eather. (<----- WTF?)
Gaiden? Or did they just mean they're building it up from scratch with no reused assets?
~The wii version isn't been developed by the same people as the xbox version, it is developed by Dimps ( I mean just the stage design, the team is working together)
Called it... erm, kinda.
~The music is been developed by the Same music director as the one in Sonic rush.
People were making comments about how good the trailer music was. Now we know why.
Hmm, I don't know if I'll get both versions or just the 360 version; knowing me, however, I will probably be getting both! ^_^
It'll be interesting if Sega repeats what they accomplished with S3&K and make it so that you need to have bought and played both versions to see the full plot of the game unfold.
No wait... the other thing. Tedious.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind if that was the case if you could "lock-on" the Wii and 360 versions, but since you can't, I just hope the differences are in level design only.
The whole different level design idea is kinda weird the more I think about it. It seemed great at first for trying new ideas, but it could possibly be some clever cover up to compensate for the Wii's lower quality and then decide to make the levels shorter for it. o.o
Mostly everything else that was said in the article was great, though.
PS3 = Team Dark
XBox 360 = Team Sonic
Wii = Team Rose
So the PS2 is Team Chaotix?
Haha, nice little parallel there.
Wow. It's been years since I seen a truly good interview out of Sonic Team -- I am actually, and somewhat nervously, pumped up for this game. They are acknowledging and addressing their past mistakes, and that's all that really matters, aside from giving us a friggen A+ game.
If the Werewolf gimick sucks kind of like Venom in Ultimate Spiderman did. Then just like Venom maybe we can quietly ignore ignore him and tolerate his play time until we get back to normal Sonic.
I wonder what crazy awesome multiplayer/party games the Wii version will have...
~The music is been developed by the Same music director as the one in Sonic rush.
Wait, you mean Hideki Naganuma?!! (PleaseOPleaseOplease..)
Can somebody tell the interviewer to shut up with the praising of Silver and STHNext to an official developer? GAWD.
I like Silver, he's a dweeb. Dweebs make me laugh.
To be fair, first moments with Silver on STH2006 was great. I stood on a crate and I made it float. It was like I was some sort of super villian. Then I was shot.
Then I got to Dusty Desert.
XD oh yeah. Totally turn Silver into a super villian totally hawt. If only Silver was like....something other than a hedgehog. Like a Porcupine!
The people at PLAY magazine are such a bunch of sell-out butt-kissers that they probably have a special sink just for spitting out rump hairs.
o.o That sounds neat!
Thanks for that, Shiggs... I'll be carrying that image around for weeks now. -.-;
Has Crush 40 said anything about their involvement in the game?
if i were crush 40 i'd view sonic as a bad luck charm c.c
It's not Sonic's fault that Crush 40 has gotten even worse than usual. =p
I bet there is some correlation there...
*magnifying glass and sherlock cap*
Actually I have no problem with their songs in Sonic games. I don't search for them elsewhere though.
They aren't really my genre of choice.
If I were Sonic, I'd view Crush 40 as a bad luck charm.
I'd like to see Masato Nakamura return, honestly. If only for one game.
I'd like to see Masato Nakamura return, honestly. If only for THE WHOLE BLEEPIN SERIES.
That is what you should say.
Hahha! Forgive me for my ignorance...but who exactly is this Masato Nakamura guy? Sonic 2 and 3 composer maybe?
After a quick search on wiki: He is the guy who founded Dreams Come True and they did the music for Sonic 1 and 2.
Ahh ok I see JT. Thanks. And yes...that's a wise choice...as is yours Psx.
Honestly, I'd prefer Richard Jacques, but that's me. Barring songs, anyway. His instrumental music is probably the best in the series. His songs... aren't.
Who made the Sonic CD soundtrack (Japanese or American)? I'd love either of them to give it a go -- some of my favorite music in the whole series.
Just to make this place a little livelier someone on GameFAQs found a connection with music from this game and another. This time it's the main level music and the final music for Sonic 1 on GG. Here's the comparison.
Wow...good find there Ray. Yes similar indeed.
Btw today is SEGA Gamer Day. So expect Wolf Sonic and game related stuff to be reveal today.
What time does the Gamer Day start. I mean it's 4:30 Eastern time, shouldn't there already be some annoucements made or something? Thanks, Neal, but like I said someone on GameFAQs found it, and I've just been sitting on it until I felt like posting it.

Apparetly there might an information embargo. So there might not be any info till Thurday or Friday. Damn you, Sega.
Eh, I can wait until tomorrow, it will be worth the wait, but if it is Friday, then curse you Sega! *shakes fist* Anyway, speaking of Sega, Sega has a new website though they apparently deleted the Unleashed website, at least, last I checked.
Well it looks like the embargo will be lifted tomorrow at 8am (probably Pacific time).
Curse you, Sega .
Curse you, Seegaa!!!!!
Hahah! Why not? Curse you Sega!!!
Surse you, CEGA!!
Wait, lemme try that again.
IGN has broken the embargo and has preview of the game as well as new screenshots.
Sadly there was no Wolf Sonic in the demo.
For those of you too lazy, some important bullet points:
-At least once, we saw the character crash through a rooftop and free fall (in a controllable sequence) down a long corridor.
-If you'd rather just zip through traditional levels, you can ignore the overworld altogether, but it'll be there for those who want it.
-And you will on occasion be able to play as a character other than Sonic, although the focus of the game will definitely be on the Hedgehog.
-The forced split-screen face-offs in the Sonic Adventure games are out. Unleashed is a single-player only experience. There will not be a multiplayer mode of any kind, according to SEGA.
-Sonic Team is also enabling full use of the GameCube controller and is currently looking into adding support for the classic controller, too.
-Having watched SEGA reps zip through two beautiful looking stages filled with classic 2D-esque loops and corkscrews in addition to fully 3D cities, we can optimistically state that Sonic is finally back.
-Sonic Unleashed has a few hurdles left, mostly related to framerate fluidity, but there's no doubt about it: Sonic Team has finally taken the franchise forward again.
They have quite a bit of screens as well.
