EDIT: Also, can someone name the games that isn't available on the Virtual Console/XBLA/PSN, PSP/PS2 Genesis Collections, or Sonic Mega Collection/+?
These are the games in this collection that did not appear in Sega Genesis Collection or Sonic Mega Collection:
Streets of Rage
Streets of Rage 2
Streets of Rage 3
Technically, the Japanese version of Sonic Gems Collection contained the Bare Knuckle/Streets Of Rage trilogy, but I'm just being nitpicky. =P
Considering that this is the Sega Genesis Ultimate Collection, can anyone think of any Sega-published games for the Genny/MD that's missing from this collection that should have been included?
I wonder if there will be sound glitches in this collection like all the other general Sega collections.
The sound quality of the Genesis games that were on Gems Collection made me think that they were running on better software than usual. I didn't notice any weird shenanigans from the sound like the jarring spazes from Mega Collection. XD So I hope they used the same emulator for this compilation.

Oh wow...that game looks/sounds awesome! I want!
The lock on games need to be included (S3&K at least) to really seal the deal. Otherwise this is a very nice deal.
No Mega Drive/Genesis collection could ever be complete without Soleil/Crusaders of Centy, and maybe Sparkster/RKA, but this is pretty close indeed.
They should throw Dinosaurs For Hire on the list or as an unlockable just for the "WTF" reaction some people would give it. And it's not a bad game after all.
OMG @ PPL STILL COMPLAINING.
Yeah I'm pretty excited about this collection as it is. I'm just adding sarcastic suggestions like adding Zero Tolerance to the collection to make myself (and hopefully others) giggle.
But again, $30 for all of these amazing classics? This is fan service at one of its best moments.
*looks at the list SHADONIC posted*
Me buying this game CONFIRMED!
The cover for the game and new screenshots.
Should have gone with post Sonic and Knuckles artwork instead of the Sonic 1.
I must say, that's some pretty ugly box art - at least Sonic there. What the hell did they do to the coloring? Heck, even with the original colors, it's still not a pretty picture of Sonic... like at all.
I realize I may be alone with this opinion after reading the comments at Sega Nerds about the box art, but I really like the art.
Yeah the colors are a bit weird-looking, but seeing the old OLD school Sonic makes me wanna sit down and read a Sega Vision while eating a diclicious burger topped with some Sonic Ketchup!
Kidding aside, I really dig the box art.
Sonic ketchup! XDXD!!! That's hilarous! But hey dude i'm with you...I love the box art, actually. Quite awesome, mmhmm.
There's so much prettier art of old school sonic, such as every other image than that one.
I must admit some massive dissapointment at there being no Shining Force love on the cover.
....Oh yeah, and the Sonic artwork is crap. <<
I find it so hilarious that despite Sega finally doing something so right in terms of fan service, people are so desperate to complain about it that the box, art of all things, is being attacked. XD

As do I, Beardo, as do I.
As I said in my previous posts, I am completely satisfied with the release of this collection. I already have 1/3 of my reserve paid off.
Honestly, people should be happy that Sonic is even on the cover of this instead of just those TV screens or simply a giant photo of the Genesis system.
But hey, you can't please everyone. In this case it seems you almost can't please anyone.
I've noticed.
Apparently I missed the meeting where Sonic fans were informed to complain and gripe about every single move their 'favorite' company made. From what I've seen, this collection has complete series' of games from the Genesis on here, not to mention every hit I could have thought up. It even has Alienstorm, for God's sake. But, I've seen posts complaining about how 'OMG they don't have liek *insert game here that only 4 or 5 people played* I WILL NEVER LOVE SEGA AGAIN THE SUCK LOLZ'.
Why can't people let Sega do them a fan-favor for once? I'm personally a fan of this game already, and besides, everyone DOES want classic Sonic gameplay... ;P
Haha, classic Sonic gameplay at it's finest right here for sure.
What's also awesome about this game is that every time I mentioned it to someone they usually reply with, "*Insert game title* is on there?! Dude's that's awesome! I'm buying this game!" This is fan service to not just Sonic fans but the general Genesis-owner population, and that's why I love it.
Also, I can talk about a Sonic-related game without feeling embarrassed to be a Sonic fan, heh.
Why can't people let Sega do them a fan-favor for once?
A NiGHT's Ultimate Saturn Collection is fine, too.

Why can't Sega of America give us a collection of the SEGA AGES remakes instead? Seeing the Panzer Dragoon, NiGHTS , Phantasy Star, Treasure Box, and Monster World remakes, etc. was such a tease. >

I think they are slowly learning exactly how to please us, and this collection is hopefully the beginning of that.
But they have been doing this collection schtick since last gen and the emulation quality ranged from average to poor.
Like I said, slooooowly.
Besides, you don't have to buy this game if you don't want to. I'm not sure if they pay more attention to the forums or the sales, or if it's even, but either way I think this is a step in the right direction with fan service.
A NiGHT's Ultimate Saturn Collection is fine, too.
Hm, a collection of around 30 or 40 Genesis games, or a 'collection' of 2 mediocre games and a Christmas-themed expansion. I can't imagine which will do better.
I must say this is by far the best deal in legal emulation EVER. I might not get it, but it is certainly temping, especially since I missed most of the four console generation.
Definitely the best deal. When I mentioned this collection to a buddy he was flabbergasted because he had just bought Kid Chameleon on the Virtual Console, but still plans on buying this collection regardless.
I hope some of the unlockables are both of the Gen ToeJam & Earl games. It'd be silly to not include them on here.
Kid Chameleon on this collection will most likely be of a lesser emulation quality than the VC release.

OOOOH SNAP!
LOL The reasons that Sega won't make new game for older franchise is because no one will buy them.
Nintendo has many franchises yet the whiny hardcore only want Mario or Zelda.
Don't they want Samus as well; I mean the Metroid series is absolutely awesome and I consider it my second favorite series.

Not as much as Mario or Zelda

Phantasy Star, Shining, Altered Beast, NiGHTS, Samba and Golden Axe all beg to differ!
Also a lot of Nintendo fans still want other franchises from Nintendo, I bet most would trade every non-platformer, kart and RPG Mario title and all the Wii Sports/Play/Fit/Music stuff for a new 2D Metroid or even a new Kid Icarus.
I don't know about Samba. The Wii title isn't exactly flourishing from what I've noticed at work (GameStop).
I could see an Altered Beast title being awesome. Maybe in a 2.5D kind of atmosphere.
Golden Axe would be cool if it wasn't Beast Rider. Actually, as long as it's 2-player it would probably be awesome IMO.

Ahem! And Virtual On Operation Moongate. I'd so so so love that. Come on Sega...give America a try at these Japanese exclusive collections.

I was just listing titles that have been brought back since the Dreamcast brought back Phantasy Star, regardless of the quality or sales of the titles. 😛
Forgot Panzer Dragoon and Toejam & Earl though.
Edit: Though come to think of it I guess Samba started on the Dreamcast....

That's a really awful analogy. Just because it'd be "NiGHTS' Ultimate Saturn Collection" doesn't mean it'd only be NiGHTS on there; after all, this is "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection", but as you can see it's hardly just Sonic on here.
And, although space would be an issue, you do have 9GB to fill here, so you would just have to pick and choose from...
- NiGHTS Into Dreams...
- Burning Rangers
- Clockwork Knight
- Clockwork Knight 2
- Astal
- BUG!
- BUG TOO!
- Shining the Holy Ark
- Shining Wisdom
- Shining Force 3
- Panzer Dragoon
- Panzer Dragoon Zwei
- Panzer Dragoon Saga
- Guardian Heroes
- Saturn Bomberman
- Daytona USA
- Daytona USA: Championship Circuit Edition
- Sega Rally Championship
- Virtua Fighter 2 (the good one, not the crappy Genesis one Sega keeps pushing out)
- Virtua Cop
- Virtua Cop 2
- House of the Dead
- Sonic 3D Blast (with Richard Jacques' far superior soundtrack)
- Sonic R (albeit this was on Gems, but hey, most of the games in the REAL collection here were either on Sonic Mega Collection or Sega Genesis Collection, so!) [/list:u:4ff6a5ecc2]
- Radiant Silvergun
- Silhouette Mirage
- Powerslave
- Duke Nukem 3D
- Quake
- Rayman
- Street Fighter Alpha 2
- Street Figher Zero 3
- Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
- Some Darkstalkers games (never really kept up with that series)
- The superior version of Mega Man 8
- Mega Man X4
- Magic Knight Rayearth
- WipEout [/list:u:4ff6a5ecc2]
And those are just first-party titles that were released in the US. Get into third-party games or imports, and then you start hitting...
No, you couldn't fit ALL those on one 9GB disc; that's why I said "pick-and-choose". But man, do you have a library to pick from.
I would support a Saturn Collection or better yet, a SEGA Arcade collection much more than yet another Genesis collection.
But of course Sega of America would hire Backbone to do the emulation job and it would be a screwy one at that.
^ That. I'd love a Saturn Collection for a change, I wanna play the original NiGHTS Into Dreams game before I die.

yay, no fat sonic on the cover!

I love it when people say the Saturn sucked. Just pull this list out and they shut up pretty fast.
They also could put it on more then one disk. Lost Odyssey on the Xbox 360 has 4 discs, so I don't see it too unreasonable. I can't see people going crazy over multiple disks though.
Another option is to ship it in volumes. Each volume could come with a good portion of games and be at a reduced price like the Genesis Collection. Just bring a new volume out every few months.

http://www.xbox360achieve...-collection/achievements/
And the achievement list. Most of them seem really easy to get.
A bit of an old point but WipEout was made by Psynosis. And they were bought out by the Sony.
Also weren't there two or three parts to Shining Force 3?
Sega America Blog 2ups that
Includes 2 Master System games. Notably Phantasy Star! As a big fan of Phantasy Star and not ever having played the original, I'm pretty pumped for this.
I want that! But it's far too expensive.
*cries*
Don't worry, you'll have 3499 more opportunities.
It's still too expensive. No way would I pay over 300 bucks for six tracks.
