Ever play Fighting Vipers? I didn't. But apparently it's host to a fairly popular character called "Honey". A fairly popular character who, in fact, was almost in Sonic the Fighters.

Now, don't get too excited; unless you can get the emulator for it working 100%, you ain't playin' as the anthropomorphized-cat Honey anytime soon. She was completely removed from Gems Collection (a shame), so emulating the arcade cabinet (where she's still around) is the only way you're going to play as her. But still, she's a cutie... shame she was cut.

That cat is vaguely familiar!

Or totally recognisable. Whichever. *stabs the cat version of Honey and of lies and of death*

DARNIT SHADOWHOG!

Don't give Sega any more ideas...though I find that very interesting...never heard of the game though...

*Would rather play Honey the Cat than Big or Blaze* Sad but true.

Tornadot, Fighting Vipers is an excellent fighting game which used two main gimmicks. Armour and all the battles were in cages. Armour could be broken off to make the character faster but more prone to damage. The cages could be broken just as you KO'ed someone. Probably more My first Virtua Fighter than it realises.

Fighting Vipers 2 however was terrible. then overcomplicated the armour removal and then there were Super KOs. the sad thing is the basic one on one game is quite good if you take away the butchering.

Also that was a flattering picture of Honey at Sonic Cult :p

Fighting Vipers was one of my favourite Saturn games, and in fact a few days ago my brother was suggesting we play it again. Honey/Candy is a great character.

Now watch the fan art of 'Sonic' Honey pop up all over the place. New (or newly discovered ;) ) characters are always fun to draw.

This is quite fun, as this version of Honey is basically a lost Sonic character (well, almost - seeing as she's really just kind of a joke/test character). A huge shame she's wiped from Gems Collection at all (I guess people have messed around with hacking and action replay stuff to discover that, yeah?). 'Sonic' Honey is indeed a cute and appealing design. Her outift is of course identical to the real FV Honey though, so if she were to be used as a real Sonic character (not that that would likely ever happen), she might feel a bit odd, with the outift being a constant reminder of her origins. If she were in a new game as a proper, canon character, I wonder if we'd see unlockable costumes for her. You know, the yellow and blue versions of the normal outfit, schoolgirl Honey, Ukelele-weilding Honey, and.. oh. That outfit. Huh. Now I might have an idea what you're talking about, John :p

She can sure kick high :lol
didnt really like her FV2 outfit. it was dull really.
I never saw School girl and Uklele Honey because i got the dull PAL version. but just remember we got Voldo's bullhorn codpeice in Soul Calibur 1. Not a thing to be proud of really.
Its a shame they tore "Sonic Honey" out and i hope it wass with a lot of kicking and screaming.

Two questions.

1. How do I unlock Honey on the emulated version? I'm using Nebula Model 2 emulator.

2. What are her attacks?

Oh my god!! This Honey-cat-fox thing actually appears in the Saturn version of Fighting Vipers. In the FMV intro, she is one of Sanman's many toys (I think she's wearing blue though), if anyone has the means to capture a pic, please do, as I don't.

I wish I knew... You'll have to ask around Sonic CulT, though I'm willing to bet it'd involve savestate hacking of some sort.

Other than that, I probably wouldn't do it anyway, simply because Nebula's only slightly less stable on my computer than a life-size replica of Big Ben, made entirely of Jello. In the sense that the backgrounds are always random polygons, that is, instead of anything coherent.

Got a pic of what I was talking about in my last post, thanks to bigsmile for capturing the image;

She's in Honey's 2P costume from Fighting Vipers, and she's pink here.

Honey was also in Fighters Megamix, as was every other Fighting Viper character.

...You know. Just because no-one had mentioned FM yet.

Honey must have belonged to that stage that was cut, Sunset Town.

Heh that's a cute character. It stinks that she was cut though. And...I've never played Fighting Vipers. Maybe because I never had a Sega Saturn.. Still, it's an interesting discovery. Hopefully we'll get some Honey fan art. *shot*

there was a fighting game on play station 1, with both fighting viper characters and ff7 characters. It was pretty famous at the time.

Sonicknight: Uhh, no, there wasn't.

Fighting Vipers is a property of AM2, which is (or was) a division of Sega.

Sega was dying enough as it was. Why have their characters be seen in a playstation game by Square or whatever?

Answer was: They didn't. Are you thinking of ehrgeiz? You probably are, it's a fun 3d fighting game with wierd characters and a few Final Fantasy 7 characters. I've played that. That is not Fighting Vipers. :/
