We've all had them. (Or at least I hope I'm n ot the only one...) You do something incredibly stupid and get killed.
Examples:
One time, after beating Robotnik at the end of Angel Island Zone, I wanted to see how low the upside-down-floating-capsule could go. And consequently, it squished me.
And in the irony department, I once got squished by a life box that I knocked down.
What are yours?

I'm sorry but I've never had as funny as that. My worst death would have to be right after the boss of the Jungle Zone in Sonic 1 on the Gamegear, that boss is tough, right after I beat him I accidentally ran off the edge of the platform I was on...this happens every time I beat him.
In Sonic 2 after beating Robotnik in the second stage (I think it Chemical Plant or something like that.) one of the flipping platform spun upsidown and I sank to my doom.

Eh? That can't happen. The capsule's programmed to stop at a certain height, I've never seen it go low enough to kill you.
Is this S3 AIZ or S3&K AIZ (S3 is known to have a few bugs that were squashed when locked on)?
I've been squished by lots of boxes in Sonic 1, Psx.
Uhm.
In Sonic Adventure when I was 9 I beat Egg Viper and I was jumping up and down and didn't pay attention to the fact Tikal said "Look out! He is up to something!", and he knocked me off and I yelled the 'F' word as loud as I could. Naughty me well anyways it took me another try and I could beat him again and dodge his attack.
Hmm... Falling off that last bottomless pit in Ice Paradise (Sonic Advance 2), gawrsh, that was annoying.
Not knowing to jump onto the ship at the beginning of Wing Fortress (Sonic 2). Poor Tornado. Oh well, who cares?

Same thing here, bud, same thing here.
I recall one time I was fighting the boss in the second level on Sonic 3 and Knuckles. (Mega Collection) I had lost my rings earlier in the fight, so I was using Tails to attack with. It was late at night, and I had the sound off so I didn't wake anyone up. So when the drowning *dings* started, I had no clue they'd happened! So I beat the boss, only to drown... -_-
~Nytloc
lets see... i did a spinball as super sonic in sky chase act 1 in sonic 2...that was really stupid of me...
I remember one especially.
I was at a checkpoint on the second level of SH, as I had just died, anyway, I carried on and four seconds later, I had ran into a wall, which sent me through into the void of bottomless pits. That made me laugh quite a bit.
Little accident with a blender, little brother, and the egg viper. Would rather not elaborate.

Aw, well nopw you have to elaborate!
Jumped into a flying cage in Sonic Heroes (One you have to Thunder Shoot down and Punch open) and couldn't get back out >_<
Another was, on Speed Highway as Tails, I jumped into Robotnik's Egg-O-Matic and didn't come back out. Although it did give me time to study his path

Weird! I ought to try that.

Didn't come back out? You mean you were stuck?
One time I ran so fast in Sonic Heroes' Lost Jungle as Team Sonic that I went through a loop and through the ground, and fell to my death.
Ouch
Stupidest deaths for me are a simple case of dying after I've killed a boss, Chaos 6 is the worst offender here, I die when they die, do the dance and think "WOO!" then restart the fight. It's very annoying >.>
The only time I beat the Altar Emerald boss in Sadv3 as Sonic and Tails: I bounced off into the pit as I dealt the final hit and the boss started to explode.
Peh.
i'd say the egg viper and its bottomless pit of doom. so many times sonic's attack would somehow fail and he'd simply fall past robotnik instead of attacking.
or i'd fall off just as i was about to kill him. o.@;
you might've been 9 years old when you forgot he was going to attack you right at the very end, i'm 21 and i still fall for it!
How 'bout the deaths that involve Tails hitting Eggman split-seconds before you, causing you to fall thu Eggman and into the void below
I'm talking about Angel Island zone in Sonic 3, but I'm sure it's happened in other Situations.
And if tails can save you in Marble Garden Act 2's boss, why can't he save you in any other falling-to-death occasion!!!
It's CRAZY!!!
AAAARGH!!!
*cough*
But nobody blames anyone for dying on Sonic Heroes...

I hate those! Or when Tails jumps onto something before you and and you miss it and fall to your death.
And then there was the time that I somehow got trapped in a little underground room that had no entrances or exits and I had to sit there until time ran out. (Well, I didn't have to...)
I was playing Sonic Adventure, and I was beating the egg viper. I FINALLY MANAGED to make it explode. BUT then Tikal came and said "watch out! He's up to something!" Well, I totally freaked and ended up running off the platform. ARRRGH! Sooooo embarrasing...
I've had others, but that's the funniest.
considering that i don't play sonic much, my worst death was
falling into a bottomless pit.

Happened to me against the egg sentinel once... (Winces)
Holy crap,man...I think I've had most of the deaths here happen to me!Dat's just mah luck...
Anywayz,I think my most embarassing death was when I hit some unforseen glitch in Sonic Adventure DX.I was in Emerald Coast Zone and was zipping along one of the narrow catwalks that comes right after a loop-de-loop.It had walls to it,so I KNOW I didn't run off...I hit some kinda glitch and suddenly as I was just running along Sonic stopped and fell to his death.O.o...I was like
When I was around 8 or 9 (Ah, the good old days!), my friend was playing the Final Boss in Sonic's Story (Eggman's big Robot powered by the ME) of Sonic and Knuckles. I was watching, and he finally beats him, only whenever the boss descended slowly while exploding(Before Eggman emerges again with the ME), my friend jumped down after him...
For me, probably trying to attempt a light speed dash in Heroes, and we all know what happens next!
Well I would say getting crushed by various objects in Sonic Advance 3...yeah that is embarassing...
Running straight into the very first Motora in Green Hill Zone because I was using my right hand to scratch myself.

Funnily enough, you can get the demo to do that. Ever tried holding A, B and C when it's running? Sometimes it works, but for some versions, it, well, doesn't... Try it on yours, mayhaps you'll get something.
... right, scratch yourself. Uh huh.
Sonic Adventure 2, Green Forest, Sonic vs Shadow as Sonic. Just as I dealt the final blow I kinda... ran off the platform. So it was like
"Nooo! *sploosh*"
"Not bad for an imposter"
*RESTART FIGHT!*
Though the Tails thing happened to me in Sonic 2. Tails was a thorn in my side until he started actually hitting bosses. So he was still a thorn in my side, but atleast I could ram into people and stab 'em with it.
Yeah, on that same level in SA2 when i was fighting Shadow the first time I hit him the final blow and made a cheering motion with one hand and Sonic bounced off Shadow and fell into the water. Other than that I haven't had many stupid deaths in Sonic games, unless you count doing a level for the first time and jumping into a pit I thought just led down to the rest of the level but actually killed me.
Almost every death is stupid...
I can't really remember my classic ones...perhaps, umm, in Sonic 2 in Chemical Plant. When you get cocky and spin attack on Robotnik's machine while he's filling up the canister with that blue crap. You remain there until you beat him, then you fall, and the "panel" flips...and you can't escape it...
I think that's how it went....
Sonic Heroes...in the jungle, with the darn crocs. You get rather nervous when they chase you. You keep jumping the viens and halfway through, for some reason, you miss one and drown. u-u;; I think I did that 15 times.
Can't remember anymore...but yes, Egg Viper..annoying. *Reads*
I think for me, the most stupid death was during the Egg Viper. I needed to talk to someone, so pressed pause. Or at least, attempted to press pause. Instead, I pressed the wrong button and spindashed off the platform ;_;
I'm not sure if this counts but inadvertanly quiting in Sonic Heros has always been a sticky point with me...
How many people have played S2 or 3 and while under water you start drowning and jump up to get an air bubble and stupid Tails gets it first leaving you dead? :">
No but running past the bubbles and dying when I realized the next one was too far away...
And dying many times in Sonic Advance 2...that's pretty bad...
I think that happened t me as well...it's a frenzy getting those bubbles x-x;
is there a such thing as a smart death.
"And then there was the time that I somehow got trapped in a little underground room that had no entrances or exits and I had to sit there until time ran out. (Well, I didn't have to...)"
That remind of the time when I was stuck in a wall as Tails at Launch Base Zone in Sonic 3. It was so freaking annoying.
is there a such thing as a smart death.
If you are on one of Knuckles SA1 stages and die after you find the emerald, without touching it, you can get there very very quickly and get your extra emblems with ease. Doesn't matter how you die, any suicide will be a smart death which benefits you in the end. Or diving off into a bottomless pit where there are two easily obtainable ONE-UPS at the start of the level, as you'll get an extra life each try etc.
Dying isn't always a bad thing
Or when doing Tails' Missions in SADX and you need to go back and get something.
Quote:
... right, scratch yourself. Uh huh.
I diplomatically left out the exact location of the aforementioned scratching.
In Sky Deck, homing into something, which, inadvertently, kicks you off ther ship. Oi! Same problem with trying to home in on the Egg Viper in SA after it throws its blades at you. Ya know, you jump on 'em, home at Eggy, miss, bounce, fall, rinse, repeat. Ow.
I think the stupidest death I've had was on Sky Rail with Shadow on SA2, I ran up the bar that leads to the GOAL, I ran through the GOAL, I ran off the edge of the bar and fell to my doom
on Sky Deck on SA1, I was nearly finished, my brother tryed to tell me something so I paused it, took of my headphones, with my thumb still on the d-stick, presed START...and exited the worst level I had to play
---
One stupid death I had was in SA, against the Egg Viper, it took me a long time to actually defeat it, and when I finally did I had no idea he would ram the bridge exactly where I'm standing killing me and when I finally did figure it out it was too late and he already rammed me and I fell to my death. making my hard work come to nothing.

I wouldn't call that a stupid death, it happened to me as well, that moment was intended to get you while you off guard (due to defeating the last boss, you're bound to be jumping for joy considering it's difficulty at first).
I think it happened to everyone unless they knew about it in advance. Heck, I've mastered both SA games and I still get jittery and nervous whenever Eggman is about to crash the Viper, I die ALOT of the time, beating the boss is just a lengthy process, surviving the cheat attack is challanging ^^;
