...along with some other Genesis classics.

Genesis Collection for the PS2 and PSP

I hope this port is good and not awful like the Sega Smash Packs.

Oh I like what you did there. Kudos for thinking outside the box.
It does seem to be a collection of the original games unlike the Sega Ages collection with their bastardize graphics. Almost got that and looked at the back and saw what they did to Outrun and Golden Axe.

Actually, they made a sprite-based version, and have been reusing it a lot lately. Unfortunately, that version sucked.

Oh yeah now I remenber. I saw the game at K Mart once. By looking at the screenshots in the back I could tell it suck.
I hope one of 28 is Sparker the Rocket Knight. I know is a Konami but still is be awesome if they add it. That game rock.

- Phantasy Star was not a Genesis game, but a Master System one. Mis-print, or signs that it won't be all Genesis games?

- Why the complete Golden Axe series (Good choice though), but not Shinobi, or indeed, Bare Knuckle (AKA, Streets Of Rage)? I can understand Phantasy Star as there has been plenty of re-releases of the series, but including all of them would be a nice bonus. Maybe more Sonic games? (Portable Mega Collection ftw!)

- WHYYYYYY??!? @ crappy Genesis version of Virtua Fighter 2.

- Please include any of the following; Alex The Kidd, Art Alive, Toejam And Earl, Shining Force (I or II) or Columns, and I guarentee at least one purchase. ^_^

Wow. A PSP game I might actually buy. I'd love a Sonic collection though.

You mean you wouldn't buy Loco Roco? :) Shame on you, sir!

Actually, Phantasy Star 1 got a limited run on the Mega Drive in Japan:

I wonder how will this news affect XBLA's and VC's pricing on Sega's games?

I don't see why anyone would buy a PSP just for this. Then again DrMD for the GP32 and DrMDx for the GP2X can play any Genesis game, and the GP32 and GP2X have the same screen resolution as the Genesis.

I don't think anyone will actually buy a PSP to play this.
Loco Roco, Tekken: Dark Ressurection, A crap load of good racing games and Daxter are good reasons to get a PSP.

We've seen about 7 (i think) of the 28 titles. It would be a crime if one of them wasn't A Streets of Rage game.

Cross-promotion for the upcoming new Golden Axe game for Xbox 360 and PS3?

Wasn't the original version going to the Gameboy Advance? Hm....maybe both.

The original Sonic the Hedgehog is supposed to come out on the GBA with Spin Dash and save states added, but this seems like a better deal overall.

Well, considerng I'm broke, I guess I won't be getting it.
I think I'll stick the PS2 collection.

Ecco Jr. is Ecco as a child. It's essentially a prequel for younger children.

I'm quite amazed there's no Streets of Rage on that compilation...

Whoa! I am surprised SEGA included this one. The list look pretty good. I might pick the PS2 version.

Remove Eternal Champions and insert Kid Chameleon and you'll have yourself a more accurate list, according to One Classy Bloke.

You'd still need to add Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3 as well as both Toejam & Earls for that, PSX.

Still, this is looking farely worth the buy for PS2, though I'd like to have Phantasy Star 1.

Focusing on the topic, I think its a rather not so good idea of sonic coming to the psp, espeacialy the original.

Hnag, on, you can already get most of those games anyway (illegally though) and most people have no scruples, this ain't not gonna sell well.... well, maybe.

That didn't stop Sonic Mega Collection, Gems Collection, and all those other companies re-releasing their retro history repeated from selling.

Heck, those Namco Collections have been one of the best selling games in the US this gen.

There is supposed to be new content on the original for the GBA and such. I believe it was his ol' spin dash attack, as well as a new save feature. I don't think it's much, but I still this it'll be really cool. Maybe it'll have more focus on the plotline as well. Perhaps better graphics?

I don't think Sonic 1 needed more focus on plotline...or better graphics really, I always remember it the way it looks anyway, like Super Mario World, and A Link to the Past, there may be better looking titles after it, but it pretty much defined how Sonic should look in 2D for me.

Too bad they couldn't tone down the difficulty of Ecco...those were some insanely tough games...

Those were hard? I only played one, though....The SNK bosses, now THOSE were hard. Those guys just plain cheated.

I played through the original Sonic 1 on my emulator. Problem was, it was a Knux hack, so I couldn't beat it, and that pissed me off. I didn't even face the final boss of Scrap Brain 3 (there are three acts).

Basicly it's Sonic 1 with Sonic 2 Spin dash and Save option. And Were, The bad guya ALWAYS cheat. I thought EVERY ONE knew that. ;) But it depends if you think its worth the buy or not.

The boss battles in the Ecco games are insanely difficult. I've never passed them just cause of those fights. :

The S&K battles, on the other hand, are easy as pie.

The final boss at the Death Egg in S&K3 is huge. And you don't have any rings. It's hard at first, mainly because you have no idea what to do. But by your 3rd try, you could probably do it. (I have NO idea what the name of this boss is, so I'll go with "Egg Obliterator")

More on the topic.....3D side-scroller, or total 3D environment. I vote for side-scroller.

This one?

Or this one?

Either way, neither of them are that difficult - and I don't know how you got the idea that you're ringless, because there's opportunity to have hundreds of rings in there with you.

I think he's confused with Sonic 2's final boss.

What he probably meant is, if you die once, you are ringless for the rest of the fight. And he SAID it was only difficult "because you have no idea what to do. But by your 3rd try, you could probably do it."

Or 50th try...

I think it'd be nice if they had an option to play one of the classic Sonic 1 levels in 3D like in SA2...I really wouldn't mind seeing Starlight in 3D...I doubt we'll see it...

I AM talking about the S&K3 final boss! Both of those pics up there are the ones I'm talking about!

I never have rings at the last boss because I always get hit at the boss before it. :) . That guy is easy, but when you think you're safe, a spike comes your way and you lose your 160 ring count.
