Everybody in Sonic games fight with raw power. The way Sonic and Shadow fight is nothing but brawn against brawn it seems. Kind of like that ridiculous Mew vs Mewtwo fight in the first Pokemon movie. They just bounced off each other in psychic balls most of the time, how boring was that? Most characters in the Sonic franchise rely on brute force to win.
There are ways to beat shear brawn without resorting to brawn yourself. There are martial arts which train people to be able to bring down a rather strong person by turning their strength against them. You don't need to be fast yourself to beat a supersonic rodent, there are all kinds of neat tricks you can try. Of course you'll have to use a little bit of 'willing suspension of disbelief' here. Sonic is always portrayed as super human to the point he could be considered just flat out un killable. This annoys me.
You be the Doctor, do you have ways you can bring down Sonic and his friends with little effort?
Eggman always uses bullets but I think its obvious by now that Sonic can dodge almost any bullet. So why not lasers instead?
Another related defense is reactive armor, these are designed to deal with Shaped charges by counteracting with another explosion, so adapt it to deal with Hedgehogs, Sonic rushes at the Tank, reactive armor explodes in his face.
And then of course there is Sticky Foam. I'm not sure if this has been tried before. But ....well remember that scene from The Incredibles? The stuff expands when it hits the air and its impossible to scrape off. One well placed hit could effectively slow Sonic down giving you time to pummel him with more of the stuff until he's completely covered. Especially if you can eject it with enough force to knock him back.

In that case make an Egg Capsule, you know the thing that traps the Flickies and the like at the end of the zones in the early game. But instead of pushing the switch opening the cage, have it activate the nuclear bomb that is in the Capsule instead. Or a prison cage, and a 30 second timer for said nuclear bomb, if you want to het some quick gloating in. Though I would do the gloating over a radio or the like.

Though its a good idea, and I bet Egg'ys ego will want to beat Sonic 1 on 1 rather than a trap, so...
Make an Eggmobile add on similar to the Arificial Chaos on the Ark. Add some of that sticky foam in to the 'water.' And have the fight in a similar arena to his first big defeat. The final boss 'crushers' a la Sonic 1. For full circle closure. Only start that phase after he is trapped.
Course they will not work because Sonic has buddies who will save him. Because Sonic believes in the power of friendship! We're Sonic Heroes!

XDXD! Old school reference ftw. But really...I mean...Metal Sonic is probably Sonic's biggest threat. Eggy can't do anything, himself, I don't think. Not anymore atleast. He'll need to build a Metal Sonic 2 or something. New and improved. Heroes was close...if Sonic was alone...he might've lost that one. *shrugs*

Now that you mention it, it does have a resemblance of Adamis's colors. Could be.
I'm pretty sure Adamis drew it. When Sonic Cult was still Sonic Cult they used this one and a few others for the banner designs.
