Why do fans always describe Amy's character: "interesting" and "fascinating"??
The only thing Amy has for a background is her rather immature crush on Sonic. What's so interesting or fascinating about that?
I expect in-depth discussion.
I have never seen her character described as either interesting or fascinating, and I'm a fan.
She's a one-trick pony who constantly chases Sonic about unyieldingly.
Only Sonic CD and Sonic Battle brush on her intriguing character feature, the tarot reading, one of which explains her entire motivation (reading that she would meet her true love on Little Planet) and the other just a funny scene.
Now, is Amy a decent character?
I think yes.
She is useful for injecting humor into a situation, and Sonic Battle, Sonic Chronicles and Sonic X all show this off well. The hot headed jealous stalker girl is a fairly decent archtype to have running around, and she has been known to make a moment funny by raising her Piko-Piko hammer.
Oh, and I suppose she did save Earth by being a goodie goodie at the end of Sonic Adventure 2, but whatever. She was just a place holder for pure and angelic symbol for Maria, and as Rouge is anything but pure, Amy had to fit the bill.
So...
Uh.
Who said she was interesting or fascinating? One of my biggest pet peeves in messageboards is people making a post to call out a vibe which I have never heard of in my 7 years on this forum. Examples, please?

What far remote region of the Sonic fandom did you come from? Interesting AND Fascinating? I don't hear that about Sonic let alone Amy.

Oh man of many faces, you do crack me up.
The grammar is readable enough. Amy Rose has always been the Clingy Jealous Girl/Stalker With a Crush of the cast. Sure, she can be a voice of reason sometimes, but it's a personality trait used in the games for comedic purposes. I don't there has ever really been any depth to her character, or any of the others, at all. I'm not sure about Sonic CD, as I've never really thought into it that much, but Sonic Battle does mention her tarot card reading, and in Sonic Chronicles, she farthest she goes is trying to make Sonic jealous by pretending to have a boyfriend, although she immediately objects to Shade joining the team. (Sonic's dialogue choices notwithstanding-- not that they really made a difference, as far as I'm concerned)
I don't think there's really much to add here. Unless you want to try picking apart another character, like Tails for instance, maybe we can all make sense out of why he's an eight-year old flying an airplane.
Amy Rose has great Chemistry with Sonic's friends, and seems like a pretty cool person to socialize with, and even makes the sonic Cartoon shows more lively because of what Amy Rose Contributes. Plus I like Amy's great moral goodness, and how Amy Rose tries chasing after Sonic the Hedgehog romantically, plus I enjoyed playing as Amy Rose in the Sonic Adventures videogame for Sega Dreamcast. So this makes Amy Rose a great character to me. Plus Amy Rose seems like such a very social person with both Sonic and Sonic's friends, and livens up Sonic's social life up quite a bit that way.

Amy is only a good character in Sonic CD, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Battle, and the Advance series (I like the different gameplay style she has), and she also has a moment or two in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic X.
Otherwise she's just annoying, about as much as most of the characters in the series can be at their worst in fact, the problem is her very premise is to be annoying to the other characters, so when the main group of characters are at their worst, she has to become more so.

Because it likes to reply to itself with messages of agreement (see other threads) also more = or more (typo error, that and having to refer to many people as one etc 
). And once again, would it be possible to hear your "in-depth" opinions on the matter of "what makes Amy Rose a great character?"

because attacking someone's grammar to compensate for your complete inability to counter their argument is much more mature 
i know it's hard to resist the urge to call someone "childish" or "silly" whenever they point out your faults or errors, but i suggest you try it

What makes Amy a great character is the way she can go from sweet and lovable to hilariously, neurotically enraged at pretty much the drop of the hat- add in the fact that she's pretty much the only thing Sonic's REALLY afraid of, and you have a recipe for hilarity whenever the two are in a room together.
What with Amy trying to latch on with the hug-of-doom, and Sonic clawing at the walls trying to escape... it's just great, cartoonish humor. And that's one of my favorite KINDS.
Also, giant mallets of doom FTW. One of my all-time favorite cartoon gags.

Personally I think she helps gamers relate to the characters- who here HASN'T had an obessivey-crush on someone, or been the "crushee" (sometimes litterally XD)? Plus the worse a character's traits, the more room they have to grow- "perfect" characters have no where to go but downhill, and that's not always a good idea with games generally aimed towards a younger audience. And like many people have said, she's funny as heck.
Using the term "grow" near Amy is a bad idea.
SA1's ending had her declare she'd be more independant and try to get Sonic to chase he--- no wait, SA2 brought her back to square 1.
The only time genuine development was ever hinted to the series was SA1 and it was all immedietly undone.

Um....Amy has a great sense of smell? She's able to pin point a male hedgehog in any crowd no matter what. Even when that male hedgehog is more like a "were wolf"
Amy is pink, and I always smelled nice sensations from that. Plus I wanted to eat her shoes, ask HSW you sillies trust him.
I would probably be the type of person to say that she's interesting, but fascinating is pushing it. I just like the fact that she gets captured all the time and yet I can't complain about her being a damsel in a distress because she gets dragged away kicking and screaming. And I enjoy thinking up scenes with her in fanfics because she's an easy character to have either angry or sweet depending on the extremity of the situation.
I may love her, but she's still annoying.
STC and Archie Amy are cool. But Sega/Japan Amy is kinda.....well....bleh. Even in Archie she still obsesses heavily over Sonic. But she can at least fight. STC Amy....crossbow. Thats all that needs to be said lol.
Its kind of like how Arcee was a warrior in the American Transformers series. But in Headmasters was pushed out and turned into a desk clerk. Hooray Japan.
