Now that we know his main purpose is to overthrow Eggman and become the emperor of the Eggman Empire, do you think he will remain or will Sonic Team scrap him like most others?
I personally want to see him again. He's the guy who want to defeat villian but for his own purposes and not to save world. Heck, he might end up becoming a villian.
That would own. Seriously.
If it means ending his miserable existence, I wouldn't mind having him become a serious threat to Sonic and pals. Perhaps he and Sonic Battle's Gamma derivative could have something of a falling out. For the heck of it, toss in G-Merl and have an all robot battle royale...
..!!
OMG. You guyz. OMG. Metal Sonic Battle.
The new Next-Gen Sonic is promising a 'return to roots', so I imagine the game will trim off much of the minor cast members to focus on Sonic, so no Omega.
And considering that both E-123 (power) and Metal Sonic (speed) were shortchanged in Sonic Riders for two generic lamebots, I doubt Omega will be making any big appearances, if any more at all.
He's a stupid character. I wouldn't mind if he was brought back as a generic level boss for Sonic to destroy and then never heard of again.
Got to agree with the Penguin, as almost always. Omega was created specifically for Heroes, much like Cream (however, unlike Cream, Omega isn't a hero and hasn't been the key focus the endings of 3 of her 6 game appearances) and he served his purpose.
I mean, do we really need a robot running around destroying other robots and Eggman without being a hero? Omega serves no other purpose than to do what the heroes have been doing since Sonic 1 and he just does it meaner and anti-hero style, like Shadow. Thusly he wont fit in with the cast, and he also wont be a threat to them as none of the main characters are Eggman Mechs.
He barely had any use in Heroes. Let's leave him dead. He only cameoed in Shadow because they had his model lying about from Heroes and wanted to reuse it, and even then he only appears in 2 storylines which can't possibly fit with the final one which he is absent from. I doubt they'd bother going out of their way for him.
I liked Omega. But then again I liked Big. But the one thing that is saving Omega at the moment is Metal Sonic. And you know when Metal Sonic returns he will be killed off. By Metal Sonic. Because Metal Sonic is evil. Pure Evil.
The thing with Omega is that he seems to want to start up his own empire to rule the world against Eggman. That could be a nice little set up to Sonic Heroes/Shadow 2.
Metal Sonic is evil, but he seems to value robots as the dominant species of the planet, for some reason, Omega will be spared when the rapture comes.
Infact, sod "evil", Metal is just crazy as hell and a typical addition to the Japanese "evil clone" stereotype.
I thought Metal Sonic just wanted to destroy Sonic. And of course the best way to do that is to morph yourself into an impossibly large dragon like version of yourself and thus you couldn't be defeated unless the super power of teamwork comes along and blows that plan up sky high. Which it did. World Domination is always the distraction in these circumstances.
He seemed heart set on the idea of all living things bowing before their robot master. He was totally Mewtwo'ing at the end of Heroes.

Until the master ball of co-operation owned him.
I've not played Shadow but from what I've heard it's made no reference to the ending of Heroes which I think is daft. If they're gonna have Sonic games with plots the least they can do is have them follow on from one another. Don't know what they should do with Omega, perhaps have Eggman send him to Blaze's world let Nega deal with him. I remember after Sonic Heroes came out I wrote what I thought should happen next. Omega ended up getting assimilated by Metal Sonic to use his firepower to fight Sonic and Shadow, Metal survives and Omega's get left as scrap.
I don't want Omega to turn evil he's cool!
Did they ever expound on why Omega turned against Eggman in Shadow the Hedgehog other than being locked up in Sonic Heroes? If they didn't give the robot some resonable explaination then they should scrap its worthless arse because Omega was a disgrace to cooler robots who defected with a reasonable explaination like SA1's Gamma, Metal Sonic, and Emerl.
About his only line in Shadow is "Are you... the original?"... that's like it.
Even though he's not neccesarily a developed character, if Sonic Team really wanted to keep him, they would just shoehorn him in the next game. That's really all there is to it.
On my opinion on what's next for him, I don't think he's going to stick around. I'm just glad Heroes brought back the Chaotix.
I'm kinda indiffrent on Omega. He was ok, not sure if I would want him to appear agin. I guess him appearing again could be good or bad depending on his role.
Omega = Gamma - Likeability
I don't see any further need for him in the continuty.

I can see Omega merging with Metal to form a major threat in a Heroes 2(maybe a Shad 2) that way Metal can try to destroy Sonic and Omega Eggy and control the empire as one unit. Of course they would be stop/destroyed by Sonic and/or Shadow--hey, maybe a game called Sonic and Shadow could come out.
Meh, I can see Omega appearing on 'What Happened to Them?' show.
NARRATOR: Once a man-killing robot for the Eggman Empire, he became a robot-killing robot for himself, but soon after the Shadow and the Black Arms incident, Omega eventually faded into the background. Over time, he wasn't tended to, and began to rust, and his program was becoming faulty.
OMEGA: Must... Destroy... All of... Eggman... Robots? *Bzzt. Zap.*
NARRATOR: Omega wasn't the only one who was fading away. Our next person was also losing his mind....
VECTOR: *Here we see him, sitting on the verandah of an old folk's home, rocking in his chair* FIND THE COMPUTER ROOM! Find the computer room! Find the... computer room! Find the... *snore*

Omega is ALREADY "evil".
Your kidding me. How's he evil?

You mean besides the fact that his ONLY motivation is to destroy the man who created him, for reason of a personal grudge?

Yep, that's pretty much defines someone evil.
Eh, I like Omega. But I like all mind-less flat characters who's only goal is to destroy everything they see.
Dahaka <3.
DAHHAAKKKA <3.
Mala Mala Jong <3.
Of course the Dahaka and Jong don't talk... (well, the Dahaka does, but he talks backwards and he's hard to hear with all the audio effects.)
*Shrug* I don't wanna see Omega go. ;__;
SCRAAAP HEAP.
Worthless consumer model...
He couldn't even pull a role in Riders and the next action game is doubtful on having Tails or Knuckles in it. It'll be 2 years from now until he even gets a CHANCE of being in another game and chances are 15th Anniversary Sonic is going to slam the door on him firmly, bolting it shut.
Just have him blow up or die in a new game. As long as it ties him up and he doesn't become one of those characters who never make an appearence ever again. Just finishing him off seems like the best idea.
...Did you just call me a tool for stating my opinion? 😛 Funny.
No his sig has the word Tool and it appears like its part of the post. It has to be said I would rather have Omega become cannon fodder for someone rather than the stiuation we have with Ray, Fang, Mighty, Heavy, Bomb, Bean and Bark.
That's his sig...
But since he's trying to destroy just Eggman and his robots that doesn't make him evil.
He's trying to KILL Eggman, and will kill anything that stands in his way to do so.
If a murderer kills a bad person they're still a murderer.
Omega actually wants to take over the Eggman empire (which is a Pyramid, a Casino and a Circus and an underground lava base. Dr. Evil based Muhahaha I honestly laughed at that because of Austin Powers. Not bad really) Which is why he has kidnapped Metal Sonic and wont tell us where he is. Trust me becuase I love evil characters (Shang Tsung, Ivy, Nightmare, Cervantes, Heihatchi, Ministry of Darkness Undertaker, Maniacally Laughing Kane, Diesel and of course Barney) Omega is evil.
That's news to me!
Yeah, it didn't look like part of his sig until I read another of his posts.
Pft, Omega isn't evil... he just um... wants revenge for... Robotnik's daughters Airam... yes. But he actually mis-interpreted her message to protect the world, and now thinks that she meant he was destined to destroy Robotnik.
What's next for Omega? Do we really even care? Is he worth a topic? I think not.
He will be sold off to become an electric pencil sharpener.
Omega's in Shadow the Hedgehog. That much I know. I hope he's not added to the rather large collection of forgotten characters, though. Maybe he'll be a regular if Shadow gets his own game series. I heard a rumor that Shadow will get his own series if his game does well.
It ain't a rumor, Jet, the main man behind Shadow definitely said that Shadow would get his own series if ShtH did well. If we do indeed get a Shadow series, I see Omega becoming Shadow's "Knuckles" and Rouge, Shadow's "Tails."
How is Rouge anything like Tails? Especially to Shadow? She's a stubborn, career-oriented, woman with street-smarts. Tails is a plucky side-kick o.O;.
I think he's saying that in the Team Dark sense of things, that Shadow, Omega, Rouge would be the main trio of a Shadow series akin to Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. Fly, Power and Speed etc.
Of course, any future Shadow game will keep him as a loner who stays close to the entire cast, but 1 at a time so it's ok.
Yeah, Craig's right, Aldrius, I figure that she would be Shadow's flight character like Tails is Sonic's.
I loved the Shadow the hedgehog game but I do not want a series. Maybe a sequel or two but not whole entire game series.
A sequel or two? The Adventures were only 2. The classics were 3 (4 if Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles are separate).
Having one or two sequels would make it a series by itself then.
Back on topic...
I don't heart Omega much, I have some pretty mixed feelings about him. I thought he'd team up with Metal Sonic at the end of Heroes and then fight alongside and be the boss before Metal Sonic or something. How he's like in Shadow isn't fully clear to me.. I'm not quite sure what to make of him.
I guess he should be some kind of boss/mini-boss if he were to appear again.
Back to Omega. I don't think we'll see Omega again.
>The classics were 3 (4 if Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles are separate).
Technically I would count Sonic 3D as the last true classic, not as the original trilogy but it's like that added extra that fits in on the end, sega trying to do something new with their franchise...
I wouldn't call Sonic 3D a "classic" by any means. Sonic CD on the other hand, without a doubt is.
No, but it slots in. the four of them make up the original Sega Mega Drive Sonic games, the bed rock the games are based on. I would slot Sonic 3D in as the sequel to them, and Sonic CD in as the offshoot...
I prefer to label the games by system rather than how good they are. The next generation games all fit together, the Genesis games all fit together, the GBA games all fit together...
It works.
EDIT: let me rephrase that together...
Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles were the original TV series...
Sonic CD is a very good movie, not based off the TV series but actually a part of it, like the movie Serenity and TV series Firefly are the same thing...
Then Sonic 3D is the fourth series, which tried to recapture the glory of the first 3 but wasn't as good, but still, it's the original TV series continued...
Then after a few years gap with the odd offshoot, parody, remake attempt and failure they manage to make a NEW series that roughly continues off the old ones (same way new Dr Who is a continuation of old Doctor Who,but you can't see the lines between them) and the new games continue (i'm talking the adventure series here)
And the new series is so popular it spawns a cartoon, the advance series, which although seems to be set in the same world has some odd differences...
It doesn't quite fit, but it's obviously supposed to tie together.
Best. Metaphor. Ever.
