Hello. I am doing some research into the story pleasures of videogames and I would appreciate your thoughts on the following questions:
1) What pleasures (e.g. enjoyments, things you like) do the stories in the videogame series Sonic The Hedgehog provide that cannot be found in other mediums such as film or television?
2) Which is more important for you in each Sonic the Hedgehog game: the individual storyline or the way it connects to and continues previous storylines? Why?
3) Do you spend much time or effort looking at other sources (e.g. official websites, manual and strategy guide translations, game lyrics) to provide you with an understanding of the story in each game or are the in-game cut-scenes and dialogues enough to provide you with a satisfying story? (If you find that the in-game cut-scenes do not provide a satisfying story, but tend not to spend much effort looking at other sources, please explain why).
4) What elements of the story provide the most pleasure?
What elements provide the most displeasure?
When answering the questions please state how much of an importance you place on the stories of the Sonic the Hedgehog series* and the degree to which you follow the series.
You may also include any other responses that you feel are relevant.
(*i.e. do you think the game play is more important than the story, the story is more important than the game play, or both are equally important)
Thanks
