I'm more of a neutral fan of pokemon myself, but that's just horrendous.

That was even more horrifunnying than http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWL6j0SvqV0 .

How did they make this? It obviously had a bigger budget than most SyFy channel movies.

When I saw "In a city immersed in chaos" I began to think this was at least partly in reference to Christopher Nolan's Batman movies. When I heard "somebody's got to take matters into their own hands" it seemed even more apparent. But "there's something out there a whole lot scarier than ghosts... me" really drove the point home. That part especially seems to be a reference to the following Batman Begins trailer:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPd3BrZ6Tkw

I don't think making movies out of video game series is necessarily a bad idea. I think it depends on the nature of the series... something simple like Pac-man probably doesn't belong in movie form, but something more deep and epic like Zelda or Star Fox sounds movie-worthy. And the approach Nolan took to Batman (take the series, modify it a little to make it more plausible and accessible to the audience) sounds like a good approach so long as one doesn't go TOO overboard on the "gritty" idea.

but matt that's the thing, you can make movies out of any idea, even storyless pointless games like pac man or even this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHY8NKj3RKs
even if they are fan made trailers, anime works that way too. take those tennise or even boring boad game based animes, there's nothing to it but they add effects and actions and story.. it becomes really hot and if you just think about it its a dumb idea made good.

oh also that basketball thing ... slam dunk, some matches last for over 5 episodes with lots of excitment and on the edge of your seat action ... yet its just basket ball XD no super powers or gunned bad guys, just a sport anime.

Yeah, but even that one looked somewhat comical to me. I think whether or not a game series belongs in movie form depends on the extent to which the games already had a story. If you try to make a story mostly out of former gameplay concepts you get this:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmaknzSZSCE

I'm not very familiar with Pokemon, but I think it would make a much better live action movie than something like Pac-man or Minesweeper would, if only for the supposed style of the series, let alone the amount of story that spinoffs like the anime have already managed to incorporate into it.
Oh, and Psxphile, who's the girl in your avatar supposed to be?
