Silly Brits! Everything comes from America! There is no such thing as an British superhero or supervillian unless it is the American's view stereotypical British superherovillian! You have nothing to call your own! Also remember when we created Monty Python and Dr. Who for you?

Have you ever noticed that all Hispanic pride themed children's shows were created by white Americans that didn't know any Spanish before they started? Its just like that, only for the British!

To prove a point, if he was truly Wally, Odlaw would be called Yllaw! Flawless!

Wally. WAAAAALLLLLLYYYYY!

And he is called Odlaw because of his odd sense of morals and odd perception of the law. Obviously.

That always did bother me, actually. I mean, changing the name was curious enough (yet another cultural difference I was privvy to, being a Yank in England), but it always struck me as odd that Odlaw's name remained "Odlaw".

Now, of course, being young and stupid, I figured that Waldo was an American creation and you Brits were changing names for the helluvit, but were too lazy to change Odlaw's name - and that struck me as really, really weird. Now being older and wiser, I'm aware that Wally came first and was British all along - but that still doesn't explain why you're not hunting for Yllaw. What gives?

It's American Idol syndrome. After all, who ever heard of Pop Idol?

While we're at it, it's remarkable how little Whose Line is it Anyway changed during the hop over the Atlantic. Seriously, swap out Clive Anderson for Drew Carey and you've basically made the only major change there was.

Yes, the real reason was that Where's Waldo was more popular in the US and was selling more merchandise, so the original creator said "screw it" and talored Odlaw to the american view. I just like to mess your guys heads.

Case in point, ever notice that since its an easier language to translate, all the Pokemon dubs from around the world were based on the English version while the original Japanese versions were always comepletely different in music and all the scenes were infact switched around. Infact, the japanese opening music you would suprisingly already know by heart because you played the side pokemon video games like Pokemon Pinball.

That comic is hilarious if like me you don't know Odlaw exists and think he was created just for the joke. Still a funny interpretation.

BTW, Odlaw and Google shows that there is a Waldo Wiki. The history of Waldo is far more rich than anyone could imagine. o.o

There is no Waldo, there is only Wally. And Odlaw, because he is cool. Waldo is simply a figment of Odlaw's imagination.
