Isn't it because that's the latest Yuku profile upgrade that they want people to do, to the point where you can't friend anyone who does not have said upgrade?

Did censoring my post really have any meaning considering the word is used in every other post, and is indeed even enshrined in the Yuku interface? I mean, I didn't even realize the ! was there until I went back and looked as to why mine was edited and others weren't. It's not like anyone who's going to be offended by the presence of the word b!tch is going to be fooled by the presence of a wayward punctuation mark.

btw this isnt the weirdest thing i saw, i remember this site had the same gifts thing like this, but it had a viberator icon on it XD and it was a site more language careful than this one. it was so embarrasing when i got two of them, i couldn't delete them either >_<

I manually censored your post because the b-word itself is normally caught by the profanity filter, and it wasn't caught in that case (at the fault of the auto censor) -- so I was just taking care of what the censor should have been catching automatically.  (As a side note, I also added the word "[b-word]slap" to the filter list so that it can't slip by the filter again.)

For the rest of the instances, I didn't do anything (yet?*) because I realize that the graphic (which is then logically referred to by typing the same thing in a post) actually appears in the new Yuku profile pages.  *I guess I'll have to see how things go, though, since even though it is something that appears on Yuku itself, it does break the board rules on censoring.

In terms of fooling people with the presence of a wayward punctuation mark:  The "!" b-word is indeed an extremely poorly censored version of the word, so I'm currently hoping that appearances of it will be kept to a minimum (if used at all) due to what I mentioned before about board censorship rules, which are there regardless of whether someone personally finds the word to be offensive or not. 

Hopefully that all makes sense o.o

Admin mode: Arikyrenne just asked about it. I'm not sure what to do with that myself, for the reasons she listed. Perhaps ++*%+$##@ should be censored, in fact I will do that now, so no staff decisions are required in this sort of situation. Normally a single letter edit is discouraged. However, unlike other censors people posting it as a graphic should be OK since A it's technically censored, B it's that way in the profiles anyway, and C the only reason it is unofficially censored is to deal with this confusing rules issue.

There's no reason to do it for practical purposes, but she did it for rules technicality.  Given the subject, it's hard to say what a mod should do, since editing it out of EVERYTHING would be putting technicalities above the entertainment of forumers, and she picked the most reasonable compromise that worked with the letter of the rules.

It's certainly not your responsibility to censor it, of course. As Ari said, that's the censor's job. In fact, technically what you did is the best way to do it. My position is that people can type what they want and let the board do that sort of job rather than be expected to deal with arcane censoring technicalities the vast majority don't care about.

BTW, I didn't read the exclamation mark until looking at why your 1 post was edited either.
