Unfortunately, isn't society set up where sensationallism sells?

The reason we organize things in the order they were posted is because it's linear chronologically - someone who may have posted earlier, but then listened to someone else's points, may post a different response later than they did earlier. Sure, post times can be included even in a tree format, but I'd rather not hunt through the whole thread to piece together the timeline of events.

And "smart" and "stupid" posts are judgments that can't be used for categorization, since while you may get a majority of people to agree on specific posts whether it is one or the other, a computer can't recognize that. The best you could have is a built-in voting system for each post...and that opens up a lot of needless social competition where some people are voted to have "stupid" posts consistently even if they are making valid points, and we end up with a popularity contest which would then practically be mandatory. And that's a serious turnoff, because as was just finished being said earlier, in essence, popularity is stupid. It would get completely in the way of any form of intelligent discussion.

And yes I realize that Vec's post was stream-of-consciousness, that it was probably put down as a way to just quickly note a thought he had before he forgot about it. Have some toast.

i hate society because the crazy rapesupporter lady is saying a ton of important things but combined them with stupid and the stupid is the only reason it will get thousands of hits. and because she will
prefer to defend her stupid instead of admit to sensationalism a bunch of legitimately sexist people will comment and feel vindicated

and it's basically impossible to have any sort of intelligent debate now because the stupid will grab the attention. ABOUT ANY SUBJECT

hmm idea. a board where the most intelligent comments are emphasized. why do posts sort by order of when they are posted? emphasize shared agreement. use trees. hide bad arguments, not entire post. post at spa so i can make a note but not bother writing entire reasoned statement.

What basis would that be judged on?
