For the record, during our melodrama recently some of the other actors had trouble understanding the meaning of this line:
"I think that the sheriff will bear watching, don't you?"

For some reason they couldn't understand that it had nothing to do with viewing ursines.

(I was the sheriff, and I was a bad, bad man)
