Blaster Master Overdrive, a re-imagining of the original NES classic, exclusive and out on WiiWare TOMMORROW (1000 points).
Do you like Metroidvanias? Do you tingle at the idea of controlling a customizable nuclear battle-tank, shooting and hovering your way through a massive, cavernous side-scrolling hub-underworld with several dungeons strewn about, each requiring you to jump out and take down some mutated sonuvaguns mano-a-mano in various overhead shoot-em-up segments? Do you consider Man's Best Friend to be small, green and slimy? Then perhaps Blaster Master might just be up your alley.
We perhaps should have seen this coming, when Sunsoft and GaijinWorks announced the original Blaster Master for Virtual Console last month. Expect more VC releases and/or remakes, as Sunsoft is open to requests.

Ummm...it comes out tomorrow?! Yea...good heads up Psx. >.>
This looks very cool though. I love me some space shooters...never did purchase Star Soldier R though...so that would be my first priority, but let us know how it is Psx, assuming you get it.
Damn right I'm getting it. I was enamored with the NES original, despite the insane difficulty it was programmed with: crappy hit boxes, gun power-ups that were drained away each time you were hit (which meant that for a good chunk of the out-of-tank gameplay you were always perpetually weak offensively), no way to save your progress (you get 3 continues at 3 lives each, and that's it... a newbie would have a hard time making it to Area 3 with that). But the gameplay and the excellent soundtrack had me coming back time and again. I even managed to finish the game... once (Thank Howard for Nintendo Power magazine and their maps). This remake appears to address everything that was infuriating about the original, which is why I'm so excited right now.
Oh, and as for the timing... yeah, don't look at me. Sunsoft is, first and foremost, a Japanese company... and it appears that the Japanese have this crazy notion that the best way to sell downloadable titles is to blitzkrieg an unsuspecting public. Victor Ireland, head of GaijinWorks who are partnering with Sunsoft on these releases, tried to convince them to release info on the game at a much earlier time, but they didn't follow through until 2 days ago. :

Ha! Sounds very much like Super Star Soldier my friend. Love those hardcore difficult games. SSS also had no way of saving and if you happened to die...tough luck...back to the very beginning for you. 😛 But blitzkrieging gamers is like...overwhelming. I swear...if SEGA came out today and said they were releasing Virtual On Tournament tomorrow...i'd go on killing spree.
In the real world. :O But you know what Psx...i'm intrigued...time to hit up www.virtualnes.com and try out the original. ^_^
Edit: So yea...I tried it out. How in the wold do PC gamers do it? I gots to have me a controller. Like...for real. Game is fun indeed. Love how you can get in and out of your vehicle at will. Seems like that would've surely been revolutionary 22 years ago. *adds another game to download from the Wii Shop Channel*
