I'm just going to copypasta what I wrote on Mortal Kombat Online. Which is currently going into meltdown due to all the fanboys crying.

I don't know what to think at this point.
On one hand, I'm disappointed that this isn't the real sequel to Armageddon. A lot of what makes Mortal Kombat: Mortal Kombat could be removed. It could be a DC Universe game with some Mortal Kombat characters thrown in, just to sedate the Mortal Kombat fans who have been waiting for MK8.
On the other, there is a part of me that is somewhat excited about the potential roster. DC Comics headline stars Vs Potential MK Roster based on the classic, recognisable MK Characters. Hell you wouldn't even need to mix and match. You could just have DC Vs DC and MK Vs MK.
On the other hand (Think Goro here) Its hard to get excited about anything Mr Boon does anymore. As much as I enjoyed Deadly Alliance to Armageddon they weren't brilliant games.
On the other hand, The Mortal Kombat brand was actually selling quite well. Didn't Armageddon, Shaolin Monks and Deadly Alliance sell in excess of a million units each? What I'm saying is that I don't think Mortal Kombat needs the DC universe tag as well and it reeks of desperation and trying to cash in on the Street Fighter Vs Marvel Super Heroes brand.
Think about it. They are considered in many peoples eyes the rival brand. Despite Street Fighter only just been rejuvenated with a sequel and Mortal Kombat's move into 3D, many people still see Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter as rivals.
In all, I'm worried, not because OMFG [censored]EN [censored] DC KHARACTERS IN MY MORTALE KOMBAT EIGHTE [censored] YOU EDWARD BOON! >=O I'm worried because I can't see the point in the game really. But then again, I couldn't see the point in the Marvel Vs Capcom games either.
I guess I'm against Vs games that make no sense, plus the attempt to put their (Midway, Capcom) own characters in the same league with recognisable characters from movies and comics (DC, Marvel). Lets be honest wouldn't you prefer a 100% DC Universe fighting game developed by Midway while the Mortal Kombat series is put on the backburner for a little while? Then maybe throw in some Mortal Kombat characters in for OMG!
Oh well, Lets hope they'll make this one properly.

This is pretty much how I'm thinking, although the interview is somewhat relieving in a way.
It just doesn't seem right, and I'd say this is likely more desperation on DC's side more than Midway's, or at least an attempt to finally start taking games development as seriously as Marvel, and coupling this with Lego Batman it seems more along that path.
Either way, here's to the best game feauring Superman ever! 
Look on the bright side, guys. With MK fans complaining about how the game will suck, at least the Sonic fans won't be considered the whiniest fans in the gaming community.

I haven't been a fan of MK games in a long time. Huge Batman and some other DC characters fan. Don't really care much but here's hoping for the best.
This will continue the tradition of all 3D MK games being broken as hell.

But think about it, MK fans are claiming that DC is too kiddy. Despite the fact that Joker once repeatedly killed Batman JUST to see him die and poisioning an entire class of schoolchildren, several female superheroes were raped (one with a screwdriver O_o) Wonder Woman even killed before. Batman coming up with ways to destroy his allies if they were to ever turned bad.
LAME! This is not what I was looking for. I did always comment on how Marvel and Capcom had a thing...and maybe SNK and DC could do something. But MK...oh gosh. I'm a MK fan and I like alor of the DC superheroes, but I wanted just MK. I may keep an eye out for this one.

I've never been much of a DC fan. Superman is utterly lame and its because of his whole 'perfect ability and superpowers' that he really doesn't interest me. It'll be interesting to see how they try to balance him, though??

As a huge Mortal Kombat fan, I'm more annoyed than anything--not only do the universes clash horribly, but removing the fatalities and the blood is just... wrong. I think if it were Mortal Kombat vs. Marvel, who are a bit more violent in their comic books, we'd have something truer to what a Mortal Kombat game is. As it is, I have no excitement towards this project.
I did share your emotion Wesu, but really this could be a good thing. It may open up so many more crossovers you know. *shrugs*

Basic gist of the above video:
DC heroes will have something along the lines of Brutalities rather than Fatalities. They are just finalising the name. DC Villians and MK characters will have Fatalities. I know that's already been confirmed but hay!
A possible new mode with fights featuring more than 2 characters described as "Madness".
Story mode will have a DC Universe side and a Mortal Kombat side and and there is a possible collusion between both universes certain villains.
Klose Kombat is set up a bit like a boxing game where you'll be able to see bruises form and clothes get torn up. The segment with this had nice shots of Scorpion's skull head.
Sub Zero has a new teleport move.
Superman has freeze breathe, eye laser and a powerful breathe in move which sucks in the opponent.
Flash's special moves involve running really fast. Spin around them and running punches etc.
Sonya's Leg Grab is back. Plus her energy blast move and kiss of death.
Shang Tsung's soul suck is in.
Scorpion will have his Toasty Fatality.
Metropolis has a stage transition where you kick an opponent into a wall and then you rugby tackle them through several walls.
Download content is a possibility in the future. But maybe not for this game.
Ed Boon would love to continue this franchise as well as do separate MK games.

Plus Midway has just released the first MKast. Not much more revealed on this other than:
Storyline wise, it doesn't take place between Deception and Armageddon or Infinite Crisis and Kingdom Come. It just happens but they aren't going to mess with character's back stories. Batman is still an orphan etc.
They intend to release this game as complete as possible with no need for patches.
They intend to reveal pretty much the whole roster because they want to promote this game. There is no point in withholding information on characters.
Thats it. Somewhat looking forward to this now. It looks so stupid and fun that I just really hope it is a good game. It wont be a "Pure" fighting game like the other games coming out this year and next. But thats why we have Virtua Fighter 5.

Yea it won't be a hardcore game, like VF, SC, and SF but it'll rock. I'm sure of it. I realise that in the fighting game itself he wont be invincible, just like Scorpion is killable despite being a spectre, but... WHAT.
Unless every person in MK is given kryptonite gauntlets, Superman is invincible. His only natural weakness is magic and Scorp's vine of yanking is hardly magic. Maybe he could block out the red sun rays which give Supes his powers?

however, allow me to add an addendum. and this also goes with my other comment @craig. what kind of game would SSB be if they added MK characters, or Street Fighter characters, or Soul Calibur characters. other fighting games are probs not the best example, but then, how about DC universe added to SSB. would that work?? Here's my point, so i don't ramble: there are certain groups of characters that can make good crossover games (fighting or otherwise), and SSB is one good example because most of them are Nintendo chars. Sonic was added because EVERYONE wanted him to be. did ANYONE want to see who would win between Raiden and Wonder Woman?? If anyone here was truly thinking this crossover would've been a good idea before it was announced, i will gladly stand corrected and stay quiet, but i highly doubt it crossed anyone's mind.
finally, @craig: the developers explained in a few interviews that there will be some minor story element to explain in the game why these two universes are fighting and, *ehem* why DC Characters can be killed in battle. QED. Superman is invincible normally, yes, but NOT IN THIS GAME. I will assume you can beat him theoretically by using only punches. and that is lame. thus, i just feel like he will be a dumb character (however, i am undecided about Batman). so to answer your question, i was obviously referring to this game only, and no, i never thought all the other chars. would have kryptonite, which is part of the fact that i was pointing out. Since the MK universe rules apply, Scorpion, as you so aptly explain, is also killable despite being a spectre, BUT the chars. from DC already had their own 'rules' (such as Superman is invincible) which is the fundamental part of the problem, and why this game shouldn't exist.

Your answer should have been Sega Superstars Tennis. >=( I mean playing that game made me understand why Nintendo fans enjoy Super Smash Brothers. Its Ulala Vs NiGHTS on Green Hill Zone, playing tennis. The most non violent of sports. I still managed to smack Blaze in the head with a Tennis ball. 
As far as Superman's depowering goes, it seems that they are saying the two worlds are colliding because of magic and the magic is everywhere. Superman is not safe from the magic.
To be honest, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman are going to be hard to justify their depowerings I think. Unless its the same thing.

In order for a competitive game to be considered good they need a little something called BALANCE!
This is why Mario can outrun Sonic, Serverbot can knock out the Hulk, Dan can defeat Shin Akuma, and Chi Chi can obliterate Perfect Cell. In these fights, canon character attributes mean very little if they exceed that of the others to a point that it would be a waste of time trying to play as anyone other than the same character, which is why it would break the game if Superman could only be hurt by three or so fighters and no one else.
Whats more, Superman's level of invulnerability has varied a lot over the decades, back in the '30s nothing less than the force of a land mine could hurt him, he also had pretty low level super strength, didn't have heat vision and couldn't fly. In the DC Animated Universe they outright stated that Supes could be killed by someone of near strength, which is why Wonder Woman could knock him out.
Now originally I was shocked and almost appalled at the prospect of this game, but the whole thing won me over once I saw it in motion, so I'm hoping it's at least a fun fighting game. Quite frankly I can't think of a reason why MK characters couldn't hurt Superman or Wonder Woman anyway, they've dealt with the likes of Elder Gods in the past, super powered beings on a godlike level are a casual occurrence in the MK universe.

Hey i'm not going to lie. I was skeptic of this at first. Very skeptic actually. But honestly...in action this stuff looks awesome. I need to watch that Joker Fatality. But the big Green and WW...when were they announced? Also...Shazam? Really. Why not The Martian Man Hunter[or whoever]. I loved him in the JL. And Kitana and Jax are nice to see as well. And Robo makes a god point...the MK cast has like...fought gods and crap...this is no different really. And superpowers aside...this is new kinda. I mean crossovers are nothing new, but this is indeed a new crossover. Alot of the time what you end up seeing are sequels, sequels, and more sequels. While this is still...Mortal Kombat[so somewhat of a sequel] it's a new thing. I'm glad to see them branching out and atleast trying new things. Oh and question: Does anyone know if we'll be able to pit MK characters vs. other MK characters or DC chars. vs. DC chars. Because if we can onlt do the vs. thing...i'll be pretty mad.
