Er... they filed this patent in 2005.
Quote:
The patent application even states "A receiver portion including one or more sensor units located in or near the target area." This sounds like a sensor bar!
No it doesn't.
Man, do you even know what a sensor bar does, original poster?
It does, however, appear to be motion-detecting technology that would allow something analogous to the Wiimote, as far as I can make out from the actual patent.
It'll probably end up being closer to a lightgun from what I figure.
Everyone does this, it is nothing new. Nintendo innovates to the point where it is actually good, everyone copies once the path is paved. Nothing new. When Nintendo die, that will be the death of the last true, honest console gaming company in the major market... I am not a fan of any particular company but my hat goes off to Nintendo for stickin by their guns and morals through the end, even if it means their death.
My 2 cents,

I seriously doubt Nintendo's in any real danger from this. This is probably Sony being sore that Nintendo owns the company that's sitting on what used to be their DualShock technology XD.
Sony's copying Nintendo?! STOP THE PRESSES!
