But anyways, IF this is true...I have a feeling people are gonna be @%%#%$%% about this NOT being MvC2, as in it's not gonna have 56 characters and other reasons.

Honestly, MvC2 was overrated. It wasn't a great game, but the number of characters was what made it so popular. Personally I hope that if there is a MvC3, then I pray that it isn't the button mashing love-fest from before.

Hey, I don't know, this could've been more than six years ago, honestly. For all I know, it was the Marvel guys who fought like frickin' blowup dolls.

They already have a great Spider-Man cartoon, why drop a good thing? Sure Ultimate Spider-Man was/is good, but it's pretty dark (at times unnecessary so) and it's not that Disney can't do dark, they just don't want to.

In a Twitter update, Marvel.com editor, Ryan Penagos, stated that he's, "In Hawaii giving [the] media a look at something super seeeeekrit. All will be revealed next week."

Now, this is extra suspicious because Capcom staff members are currently in Hawaii hosting their annual Captivate press event.

Also, there's a one week press embargo on the things revealed at Captivate, which coincides nicely with timeline stated in Penagos' Twitter update.

Disney's Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon in 2011

The Marvel Animation Age has posted two updates on older Marvel Animation shows. According to producer Greg Weisman, the announcement of a new Ultimate Spider-Man animated TV series effectively means that The Spectacular Spider-Man will not be renewed for a new season, although Marvel Animation President Eric Rollman stated that the decision to greenlight more Spectacular Spider-Man would be up to Sony Pictures Television No Chance in HELL of there being a third season.

Joss Whedon is pretty awesome. Like, with Fireflies, Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog, and of course, (maybe his brother?) Dark Horse Comics.

Yea Whedon on Avengers is like...bad ass. Yosh! As for MvC2...I just played it for the first time...maybe 3 year ago...it's fun, but it is alot of button mashing and balance issues still fun, nonetheless. I'm sure whatever they decide to do will be met with overzealous fanboys complaining and whining, then upon playing it, it'll be met with sacrifices and soul selling. Not too excited really...i've got my fighters. SSFIV and BB:CS. And maybe...KoFXIII. 😛

So yeah. If Deadpool is in this it will be bought. Then I will moan about how I can not play 2D fighters to save my life.

Black Cat, She Hulk (she needs some love damnit), Doc Ock, and Deadpool on Marvel's side would be awesome!

For Capcom I say Makoto, Dante, Mike Haggar, Gouken, and Gene from God Hand.

Wasn't She Hulk in some old MVC esque game? I remember playing as her some time ago.

Doc Ock would be an awesome addition, but he would wind up playing like Omega Red-completely annoying grappling all damn day. Just put Carnage in, skinny beast crazy character and I'll be happy.

I really want Havok. Really. No seriously Havoc in a fighting game would be amazing. Hell they did Magneto, why the hell can't they do Havoc. He'd be a more awesome version of Shocker 😮 Hell didn't Banshee used to be playable? Banshee?!?!? Scream Boy? But no Havoc? Fix that now.

But they really need a Jean Grey character. No, not annoying Psylocke clone (MY GOD I hated her and her disproportionate legs...), I mean straight up Blue and Orange outfit Telekinetic Pre-Phoenix badassery Jean Grey.

And She Hulk has only ever had two playable appearences in games ever, the PS1 Fantastic Four beat 'em up as a hidden character, and the DS version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. I've played neither.

If there was any justice then the new MvC3 marvel heroes would be Deadpool, Thor, Emma Frost, Nightcrawler, The Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Spider-woman, Songbird and Nova, but the chances of this many characters is like lolno.

Capcom outta follow Sakurai's lead and have someone blog weekly about the game, occasionally revealing who's in, who's out and who's new. If anything can match the furor leading up to SSB:B's release, it will be Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.

Meh, even MvC2 with 50+ didn't have enough. Mega Man and Zero are the only ones from my list that could be in, and with HD possibly neither. When they said that it would blow us away with the numbers, I wanted more than MvC2. Bigger cast and better balance than MvC2 would be more welcome than HD.

Dok Ock and some of these suggestions would be amazing. What I really want is a MvC 2.5, not a sequel that will be HD but far smaller in scope.

To be fair, MvsC2 was probably developed with the knowledge that it'd be the last Vs. with the Marvel license, hence the developers going all out and including just about every playable Marvel character from the previous games and a good chunk from the Capcom side, and that's before we include the characters that were newly added to that game. That's a whole lot of recycled sprites and animation, meaning less work for the studio.

This game, at least on the Marvel side, is going to have to adapt each character's unique attacks and animations to the 3D engine... that's a lot of work, hence they're cutting back on the roster to something a little more manageable. Not that there won't be any recycling in this game, either (Ryu, Ken, etc.)

Speaking of which, I'm curious as to how many characters from Street Fighter will be included. Tatsunoko only has three, and while I wouldn't be surprised if those same three return in MvC3, I'd like to see Bison in the game, he fits the theme well and makes a great counter part for Magneto.

If we're confirmed for thirty (including hidden characters), then you can bet that the roster is going to be split evenly down the middle between the two camps.

It really depends on how varied they want the Capcom roster to be after all the Street Fighter characters have been filled up. That's 15 per company, and I'm sure that leaves little room for other series if you just cram in the SF vets. Same goes for Marvel and X-men characters. I'm sure this is why SSFiV is being released to compensate for it if you really want SF characters, so idk. <.<

Welp, Capcom already confirmed Ryu. If they were smart, they'd use the "Alternating" Ryu from the first Marvel Vs. Capcom, who could essentially change styles between his own, Ken's move set, and Akuma's move set. That frees up two slots.

I find it VERY clever that Capcom have added Super Skrull into the mix (if that really is him). It basically gives us the entire Fantastic Four, despite it not being them. Also, the flaming figure next to Morrigan....after comparing pics, I'm convinced that it's Dormammu, and not Mephisto or Ghost Rider, whom I originally thought.

If they have Ben Grimm, then I will be a happy man. Super Skrull and jump in the ocean and have tea with Namor for all I care.

EDIT: And since CAPCOM has a history of adding characters of games most people never played for care for, I guess any character from Sengoku BASARA would be a lock on the roster?

They've said there's going to be at least 30 characters, which is 15 for either side, but to be honest that number does seem low to be able to fairly represent either series. I think I'd be happy with 40 characters. That's obviously not as much as MvC2 but considering they're having to do a hell of a lot of new work to fit characters in etc, I don't find it totally surprising. That said, what do you think the roster would be in light of this, or at least the roster you'd desire?

My Capcom list is a bit less realistic maybe since I'm not a massive fan of their games but wanted to go for a wide representation of their games, particularly their newer versions. No Phoenix Wright because I'm honestly not sure how the hell they'd make him a playable character, more than likely not he'll appear in a Court-room based level as you battle on during a trial. =D

Speaking of which, what stages would you want to see? For me I'd like to see:

I just want Sonson, Iceman, Pheonix Wright, and Jin and i'll be happy. I also wouldn't mind seeing an actual competent Roll like in TvC, but in her Mega Man 8 outfit. They can also get Vent/Aile from ZX and have interchangable biometals to represent the X/Zero/ZX series easily in one player.

I had a full post on why X should be in this game, yet this slow as molasses forum caused me to erase my previous post.

If there is only one Megaman character that should be in this sequel it should be X. The constant wishing for Zero to be in almost every CAPCOM fighting game has now become redundant (Epically when BOTH versions of Zero has already mad an appearance in Onimusha & Tatsunoko vs CAPCOM), while Voltnut/Trigger (From Megaman Legends) was featured in NAMCO X CAPCOM & Tatsunoko vs CAPCOM.

They all had their chance, yet X, one of CAPCOM's oldest and popular spin-off's STILL has not made a appearance in a fighting game? The same game where fans would actually cheer if CAPCOM announced Command Mission 2 or X9, yet is an afterthought when it comes to a fighting game?

Dammit, put X in Marvel vs CAPCOM 3 already. I mean hasn't he suffered enough?

I'm all for diversifying the lineup when you have a reputation for featuring the same characters time and time again (can you really call it a Capcom fighting game without Ryu/Ryu clone? Or a game featuring Marvel characters and NOT have Wolverine/Spidey?). It's a precarious balancing act, almost certain to leave out someone's favorite or most deserving character. I don't envy the developers.

Shoot. I'm not even a fan of X (By now people should now I am a Legends fan) but I think X should get his turn. Fair is fair is all I'm saying.

Sure, that's fine. But X getting in means someone just as deserving, like say... Falcon/Fokker from Power Stone, won't make the cut.
