In the latest Game Informer magazine, Dante (Devil May Cry), Felicia (Darkstalkers), Deadpool and Captain America were listed as confirmed characters for Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Here's a list of details and impressions from the write up.
• MvC3 is using the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom scheme to be more accessible, but will retain stuff like Hyper Combo cancels, Snapbacks and assists.
• The game will have the alpha, beta and gamma assist types, just like in Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
• MvC3 aims to knock down the wall of complicated controls and open up the field of strategic fighting to all comers. This means fusing the accessible controls of TvC with tried and true MVC2 gameplay.
• The game has simplified launch attacks which are universally performed with one button, the Exchange button. This can also be pressed along with certain directions to slam opponents into the ground, leaving them susceptible to combos. Players can also hit the Exchange button in midair to tag in other team members on the fly. You can also counter exchange moves by guessing the correct exchange move to input at the same time as your opponent.
• Deadpool's teleportation device will comically malfunction if you spam his teleport move. Also, he breaks the fourth wall by beating his opponents with his health bar.
• Chris Redfield uses his weapons from Resident Evil 5, his shotgun and the "shock stick."
• Moves from the previous games seemed to have been retained. Wolverine and Hulks' Supers are shown.
Also, these low quality screen shots of the game have surfaced.
Holy crap @ Deadpool 4th wall shattering shenanigans
^ A Winner is this!
Kobuns confirm there will be some Mega Man presence. PLEASE classic Mega Man and Tron Bonne like in MvC2. They were the only reason I even cared about MvC2.
Life Bar: BEST SPECIAL MOVE EVER!
Not so sure about the use of TvC controls, not that they don't work but MvC 2 was only one button more complicated, and considering the fast paced nature of the game there really is no need for Light punches and kicks.
Regardless, awesome news on Deadpool, also glad to see some screens, though Ryu's shoulder looks out of place in the Hadouken pick.
Hey, I've got a question... when trying out a new fighter having never played a proper fighter title before, which is a better starting point? Street Fighter, or MvC?
I would recommend getting Street Fighter 2 HD Remix through XBLA or any of the releases on the Virtual Console of said title. SF2 is the game that defined what the standard design for fighting games would be, so it'll give you a nice introduction, but also it'll be the cheaper option. After that if you want to see about MvC get MvC2 on XBLA also.
Street Fighter. Rather, Street Fighter II. Any iteration will do, but preferably SSFIITurbo. From there, you can work your way around the Vs. series varying control schemes and quirks without getting lost. Today's fighting games (especially Capcom-esque fighters) derived their gameplay systems from SFII in one way or another.
Starting from MvsC isn't advisable, gameplay is incredibly hectic and it'll be difficult to avoid going into Mash Button Mode if you don't know the basics.
Thanks for the suggestion. My only problem, I dont have XB360.
Not so sure about the use of TvC controls, not that they don't work but MvC 2 was only one button more complicated, and considering the fast paced nature of the game there really is no need for Light punches and kicks.
A major reason I don't play fighting games is that they involve more button gymnastics than skill or strategy. Anything to improve control and make it more mental is great.
I don't disagree, and will hold Smash Bros. up as an example of simple controls encouraging greater skill, but I find the SF series to be less about buttons and memory games than most, and MvC2 was a simpler version of that.
In TvC I find myself wanting the old scheme, primarily as I know what's kick and what's punch, rather than just light, medium, heavy. It works fine for weapon based characters just as it does in Guilty Gear, but with Ryu, Chun Li, Batsu, etc, I feel like I'm really limited.

Tron Bonne in the Mega Man Legends background. That means the most likely Mega Man rep is Volnutt. Interest plummeting! What the bleep Capcom?
Just a carry-over from TvsC, if true. I wonder what kind of process they go through to choose what characters to include? Surely after TvsC no one's asking for Mega Man Volnutt specifically, right? Lazy, lazy Capcom.
I got my issue yesterday, those pics look so much better in the issue. Deadpool is going to be hilarious, but I still dun know what his mutant power is besides regenerative healing like Wolvie? I never knew it, lol.
Oh Wolvie in Astonishing X-men suit? Eww, HATE that suit. Thank you for Felicia and I wanna see Servbot in this. If only for that RIDICULOUS MvC2 Super in 3D LOL.
Deadpool's mutant power is the ability to smash the 4th wall with abaddon. Also dual inner monologue-ing.
He also smashes opponents with the health bar for a special...sounds like fun. XD
lol @ the subtitle. "Fate of Two Worlds". AKA, MvC3, FTW!
Oh come on, we knew both Dante and Deadpool were in there due to the artwork released thus far. That new trailer told us nothing.
Big fire in the sky...Phoenix?
BRB, just changing pants.
Looks like DMC3 Dante, but slightly older. May just be the art style. Here's hoping that DMC1, DMC2 and DMC4 Dantes are alternate costumes. Or Trish. I'd be ok with that. :3
Big fire in the sky...Phoenix?
Or perhaps Dormammu. Considering the subtitle, a dimension-hopping big bad would fit the bill.
Because everyone loves Dormammu -.-....
No. Get that out of here. Now. I want it evicted. Put. Thanos. In. I WANT INFINITY GAUNTLET!
IGN E3 hands-on w/ 3 gameplay videos
Good read. I was surprised to find that Capcom went the extra mile and re-hired several peeps who had previously worked on MvsC2 just to work on this game.
UPDATE: Longer version of the previous game trailer. Fire in the sky confirmed as... well, you'll see.
Okay. Yes. I am in love with this game and may have to buy it when I achieve 360 ownership.
Thank you, Capcom. You are the gits that keeps on giving.
So Capcom finally confirmed Dr. Doom, Super Skrull, Trish and Chun-Li for MvsC3's roster @ Comic-Con.
Then Marvel.com went and accidently leaked two more characters: Thor and Amaterasu.
This game has Deadpool and Amatersu in it.
It has earned my £40.

Amaterasu Gameplay
EDIT: I really really really hate Felicia
Amaterasu just convinced me to buy this game if possible. 😛
Both characters being included makes me happier than ever for this game, all Marvel fighters have been lacking Thor, and it's about damn time this was ammended.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see other characters who'll be getting movies soon.
wat
EDIT: lol, got trolled. This is from the MvsC2 XBL/PSN announcement days, false alarm
EDIT: to make up for that gaffe, here's a little something:
Capcom-Unity conducted an interview with Marvel vs. Capcom 3's producer, Ryota Niitsuma, at Comic-Con and archived video is up on their uStream page.
It's over an hour long, so to save you the trouble of watching the whole clip, here are the interesting bits that came up.
• Ryota Niitsuma confirmed that these characters will NOT be in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Phoenix Wright, Emma Frost, Daredevil, Gene from God Hand, Ghost Rider and Punisher.
• Ghost Rider was on the list of potential characters up until the end, but didn't make the cut and Punisher wasn't included because he was too similar to Chris Redfield. They developers were careful about not having characters who would overlap too much.
• Niitsuma didn't rule out more Comic-Con MvC3 announcements — although he said this before Thor and Amaterasu were confirmed.
• The current character select screen is not completely indicative of what the final character screen will look like. So counting the available slots won't get you far.
There's always dlc.
Course another question some people want to ask is this dlc...actually real dlc or will you just be downloading an unlock code.
Dissapointed about the lack of Emma Frost and Phoenix Wright, but I'm sure this means we'll probably get either Phoenix or Psylocke instead, but I'd still rather have my snarky blonde diamond telepath in. =(
I'm also a bit dissapointed by the inclusion of Super Skrull. Granted, I can see the logic in including him as he's able to represent the Fantastic Four's powers without having to have four character slots dedicated to the FF themselves, but I'd still rather have an actual FF character in instead, even if it was only one. They couldn't have included Invisible Woman or Human Torch? Instead it just feels a bit jarring that we have two FF villains, but none of the actual FF themselves o.o
Thor though is <3 Hopefully we get Black Widow and Hawkeye considering they're supposed to be part of the Avengers team in the movie.
(And I still really really really want Songbird and Ms. Jill Valentine, damnit)
Yea Super Skrull is kinda a cop-out...then again it does leave the slot open for 3 other characters that otherwise wouldn't be in. I really wanted Human Torch though. =/ Oh well...Chun's looking ravishing as usual. I'm happy enough. Still probably won't get this when it first comes out though. Even though I probably should, so I don't miss out again[totally missed the big MvC2 surge back when it came out].
"...all Marvel fighters have been lacking Thor..."
Actually Robo, he was in MvC1. Only has a helper though. So...yea. o.o I know what you're saying though. Heh.
Lack of Phoenix Wright and Gene dissapoints me, but my team is already there.
Deadpool, Dante and Trish. <3
My formatting is screwed up. >.<
... who was fire in sky dude?
... who was fire in sky dude?
Big fire in the sky...Phoenix?
Or perhaps Dormammu. Considering the subtitle, a dimension-hopping big bad would fit the bill.
Nice call, BTW.
Needs some Dr. Strange and Baron Mordo to complete the trifecta. Raiden Dr. Strange will be the one who calls together Earth's greatest warriors in order to stop Shang Tsung Baron Mordo from opening the portal to Outworld the Dark Dimension and allowing god-tyrant Shao Khan Dormammu from taking over.
Heh.
Next rumor I'm hearing is a silvery one could be joining the cast...
Which is a hoax, btw
laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. I'm SO not a Dormammu fan :/
DL! I'm sure we've discussed this multiple times, but I can never seem to remember, do you have a PS3? If so do you have SFIV/SSFIV? If so...why haven't you allowed me the opportunity to kick your butt yet?
I'm just glad it wasn't yet another addition to the sausage fest. Better her than Captain Commando (I'm not sure where this is coming from? I don't play SF4.), anyway. Granted, the argument that there's already enough Street Fighter representation is a valid one. Could have just as easily used, oh I don't know, June from Star Gladiator? Or Kyoko from Rival Schools? Or perhaps someone right out of left field, like Denise from Misadventures of Tron Bonne in her police mech... aping Tron and her Gustaff from MvsC2 (sans Servbots). 😛
Better her than Captain Commando
Whoa, now I have to disagree; I'm going to be pretty bummed if my favorite Captain Falcon impersonator doesn't make a showing. My opinion, of course, but he was one of more eccentric characters.
Viper! Yays! I hope that is her. She's probably my favorite new addition to the SF franchise. In other news...
I'm not sure where this is coming from? I don't play SF4
...
I don't play SF4
Psx! Wha-! How? Why?! I've never known anyone to inflict such pain on themselves voluntarily. You...have my respect. *bows*
Bit of a surprise. Didn't really think she was popular enough to be in a Capcom all stars game. Sakura, Cammy maybe even Juri. But Viper?
Not against it.
