Square-Enix announced they're giving the FF1/FF2 PSP remake treatment to both the original FFIV (that's right, another remake) and its mobile phone and WiiWare episodic sequel The After Years.

Official Japanese Website

Adriansang.com report

Jump Festa Trailer

- combines both FFIV and FFIV: The After Years

- includes a new scenario that bridges the gap between both games

- hi-res graphical remake ala Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II for PSP

- CG movies from FFIVDS will be included, with all-new CG added for The After Years

In my opinion this collection can't be considered complete if they neglect to include the extra dungeons that were added to the GBA port and curiously left out of the DS remake. And considering both games have already been fully translated (sans the new scenario) I'd be surprised if this wasn't released in the west.

At first I was like 'do not want', since how FF4's been remade/ported a number of times now and the seeming inability to properly remake it like the 3D graphic DS remake left me feeling a bit cold. That said, I then thought to myself that I've never had the opportunity to play it in its 2D form, OR play After Years, and not to mention that 4 is probably my second favourite Final Fantasy game in the series.

Needless to say I'm not extremely interested in playing it, and here's hoping they'll give the same treatment to V and VI (I'd even take a 3 remake as well, therefore giving us FF1-9 playable all on one console =D).

Yes but will it be Easy type FF4 (Which was stupid easy) or Hard type FF4 (which provided a nice little challenge)? I need a PSP now.

This is fine with me. I'm tired of playing FFIV on every console imaginable, but I've never played the after years and I have really been wanting to and this seems like my only chance. As for IV itself they should definitely add the GBA extras (hey the PSP remakes of I and II added the GBA extras so...) and give it the DS IV's insane difficulty level (I can beat regular IV in my sleep by now!). I'll be getting it whenever it decides to mosey its way over here, but I can wait. Now howcome they don't remake VI as much as they do IV? I mean if any game in FF series needs a remake (3D or otherwise) its this gem!

>.< This better come to PSN for PS3 users or something. This is why i'll never play any of the first FF games...keep coming out on systems I don't have[or intend to obtain].

Part of me doesn't want to buy this but it's sooooo good looking, I could look at those gorgeous graphics all day. Plus I recently lost my GBA copy of the game, so maybe it's fate.

I've only got the PSOne releases of the SNES era Final Fantasies, so I may get this if I don't get the DS remake (I like the look of that one two.)

But yeah, I have to echo an above sentiment.

Where's the love for VI, Squenix?!
