Seriously, though, ignoring the obvious "it's a song", what IS it? The name seriously does NOT ring any bells.

It's a song by Muse, one that the internets has been begging Harmonix to but in a Guitar Hero game ever since Guitar Hero 1 was released. It's a longish song (6 minutes) with a distinct spaghetti western flair that has one of the coolest 'rock the f*** out' endings to a song that I can remember.

Nope, it's out for just about everything. PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. PC version is to follow next month.

I picked up the 360 version today. So far my opinion is an overwhelming "eh". Maybe it's just my particular musical tastes, but I'm not caring much for the tracklist so far. I've played through the first 15 songs in the career, and there have been maybe 2 or 3 songs that I like okay. None that I really like and wanted to go back and replay right away. And multiple that I hate with a fiery passion.

I've been displeased enough with the songs so far that I took a short break to go back to GHII just to play a few songs that I actually enjoy. Blarg. I certainly hope things improve soon, as the next four songs don't look any better than what I've done so far.

I also don't really care for most of the new character designs. Things all have a bit more of a realistic look than before, which just doesn't look right to me for some reason. And some people just look downright weird. (case in point, the male lead singer character model with his freakishly huge chin) I don't know. Maybe it's just me.

I do have to say one thing, this new wireless guitar controller is excellent. Beside the convenience of wireless, the guitar istelf seems significantly improved over the last one. It's a little heavier, and everything overall (buttons, strum bar, etc.) just feels more solid. It's quite nice, and it also works great with GHII.

So yeah. Enough complaining out of me for now. I suspect I'm in the minority anyway (as is often the case).

GHIII doesn't hit Australian shores for a few weeks yet.

A mate of mine downloaded a NTSC copy however, and we've been cranking that pretty hardcore. Man, Through The Fire And The Flames is nasty. Just plain old nasty.

That said, the whole game feels a little harder, which is fine by me. Characters are all right (Boo @ Pandora removal though). Red Bull product placement makes me smile. =D
