I find if I've been playing a game a lot for a while, the slightest thing could remind me of it. For example, I remember one night when I was sleeping in a tent around the time I first got into Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and I was finding it harder to fall asleep than I thought I would; for whatever reason the image of "Kokiri Forest at night" from the game popped into my head... and the first time I saw that in the game was when first going back to Kokiri Forest to try to avoid confronting the "stalchild" things in Hyrule Field. Maybe it's the combination of "at night + unexpected difficulty + woods" that triggered the association?

So yeah, just one example for now, what about other people here?

EDIT: Fixed redundancy

Mario, in my case. Just jumping up and over everything that came his way. It's been years since I've last thought of that.

It was always Sonic with me. It was Link sometimes too. He chopped down all the powerlines as he ran along. ^_^ We had an imaginary blackout for weeks.

This topic title totally had me thinking of something else. But it was always Sonic for me too. Running track and field for awhile now...i'd always imagine how much faster Sonic could run events. Also...Virtual On was pretty big. Whenever i'd wach Gundam Wing or see something with a mech on TV or something, i'd say to myself..."Cypher could take 'em." 😛

What do you mean?

And Psx, that picture reminded me more of "Ninja Gaiden: Dark Sword of Chaos" than of Mario. o.o

Like TTG and HS, it was always Sonic with me as well. Whenever I'd see loop-de-loops, I'd often think of Sonic dashing across them and sometimes still do. Also, my grandfather (who has a moustache) used to remind me of Dr Eggman since Dr Eggman has a moustache (and he still sometimes reminds me of Dr Eggman for that same reason).

I was thinking you were referring to like a genre or series of game. Like, I used to only buy specific games and their sequels...i'd never try new franchises or anything, you know.

All it needs is Ryu hopping train cars as 3 ninja-seeking eagles home in on his position.

Actually, that too is a habit of mine. I've mostly stuck to a few game series as well. I suppose it might be a bit more practical to try a variety of series. (Well, within the idea that knowledge of video games would even be practical in the first place)

Haha! Yea man...practicalites and video games...why even bring the two together. 😛 But it's really refreshing to try out new series. No More Heroes and Blazblue are some of my recent departures. And they're wonderful.

If I was a pill-muncher, then I'd remind myself of Pac-Man - the ultimate pill-muncher.

Well, they aren't necessarily mutually exclusive... I remember coming across this article in a Time magazine years ago...

... come to think of it, it might be worth its own thread. o.o
