Rock Band 2

I know this probably will not interest anyone here, but I'm posting out of fanboy obligation.

Interview with lead designer

The best points:

  • September release date - yes, THIS September, which is before Guitar Hero: World Tour is slated [*]All songs from the first game, including the weekly downloadable content songs (that's over 200 tracks) will be playable, the game will include a new setlist of almost 100 songs, and all DLC releases from here on out will be compatible with both games [*]Now that the instruments have been tested to be almost glitch free, new (prettier) version will be released with the bundle [*]
  • Feature tweaks and updates, new features, and interface streamlining was pretty much confirmed
  • Release day pickup for me. If anyone doesn't have Rock Band yet, and you like rhythm games like Guitar Hero, wait until September and pick this up. [/list:u:a11a4b4b43]

Oh yes! Believe me...this will interest many people, im sure myself included. Totally loved the first Rock Band[until my roommate's drum set msessed up and we didn't play it since...=(]. If this will be available for Wii I might have to try and get it. However with the hopeful idea of acquiring a PS3 I would just get it for PS3 so Christmas might be big this year.

SOLD

Thank God I won't have to give up my nightly Boston and Muse sessions with the new game.

Anyone who owns Rock Band on the 360 and doesn't have the Boston pack or 'Hysteria' by Muse should get throw their copy of the game in the trash right now because it's just being wasted in their system.

Will it have a 400% mark up on the US price for the UK Market?

Of course not, John. That would be silly.

It's 500% instead.

September... Septemer.... Why does that sound familiar.... OH! That's right! That's when we down in Australia are due to get the first Rock Band!

Honestly, * Rock Band. I'm so over it, it's not even funny. This has been one massive kick in the teeth for Australian gamers. Not only have we waited a stupidly long time for this, we will undoubtedly get the same sort of mark up our UK brethren did. Instead of taking care of all of the potential userbase, one or two regions get treated like * while one region gets its every want and need attended to. Not even Don't Fear The Reaper can save the absolute cluster**** this has become.

And before anyone mentions importing, I'd just like to say that I shouldn't have to, especially not with a massive title like this. Had there been a month or two wait, I could understand. But not this. This, is the worse excuse for customer service, I've ever seen.

Ditto, Gyser. The Wii version doesn't even have a release date here last I checked, and there's absolutely no online functionality. Whereas I'm guaranteed to be able to pick up the new GH in November and take it home and play online. GH is gonna get my dollars every time just cause they don't treat PALstralia like crap.

If the rumors of Moving Pictures being DLC are true, I wont have to buy a 360/PS3 to play. Wiiband2 will have it <3

Camera Eye! CAMERA EYE!

Seriously, though... this idea seems stupid and unprofitable. Why would a company discourage people from buying the original game?

Discourage people from buying the first game...hmmm, I don't know Craig. Maybe they're so confident in the rocktastic awesomeness of this sequel that it won't matter? *shrugs*

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to play the RB1 on-disc songs in RB2 somehow, but you'll need the RB1 disc to do so.

Also from the IGN reveal

And there's more. Harmonix actually wanted to toss in 100 tracks total for the disk, but couldn't get them all in one time to ship for Xbox 360 by September. So this fall, MTV is releasing an additional 20 downloadable master tracks... for free. By year's end this will mean RB fans will have access to more than 500 songs.

Dude, I think I just filled the cup...

That they've included a Dream Theater song intrigues me. Can't wait until my roommate buys it, heh.

World Tour is still going to blow it out of the water, either way though. I'll buy the game itself to test drive it. Even though I already preordered my copy of World Tour. Heh.

Fun.

Not a chance. World Tour's interface is half-past retarded (Purple bass drum note? Are you daft, Neversoft?), the DLC so far is non-existant and the music creator, aside from not allowing vocals, will probably be watched like a hawk for copyright-infringing materials and will probably only feature tracks by Score Hero-obsessed jerkwaters who think that "fun" entails rapid three-note chord switching over and over again.
