There was a thread like this a few years back, and seeing as we're only a month and a half into 2008 we still have a lot of games to come out.

Basically list your top 5 most anticipated games of 2008, or at least expected in 2008. Stating why is optional, but favoured. :)

Mine:

5. Soul Calibur IV: I'm not sure which version I'll end up getting, but I'm definitely getting one of them. My favourite 3D fighting series, and it's looking beautiful, curious about the inclusion finishing moves though.

4. Fallout 3: While I have Fallout 2, I haven't been able to play it much, so I can't say I'm a fan of the series. However, I absolutely love Oblivion, and with the team behind it, Bethseda, working on Fallout 3 it's already a must have for me. The screenshots are stunning, and the info makes me want it more and more.

3. Fable 2: Even though the first barely scratched what Lionhead originally promised, I still loved it. I have faith that they'll make this game much closer to what they planned, but more importantly, be a better game over the original in every way. Can't wait for more info.

2. Super Smash Bros. Brawl: The reason why I suggest you post 5 games (cause I'm expecting it to top a lot of lists :P), what's there to say that isn't already known?

1. Street Fighter IV: This gets top spot out of shere fanboyism, while there are things to worry about, I am simply over the moon that it's being revived. It's sparked a lot of playing of SSF2, Alpha 2, and Alpha 3. Simply put, I can't wait. I just hope Cammy is included.

Edit: Realised I can't spell for the life of me, I've changed the title from Futer to Future.

1. Super Smash Bros. Brawl I don't really need to justify wanting this game do I?

2. Grand Theft Auto IV Hell yeah, more free-roaming fun with GTA. Let's hope it lives up to San Andreas

3. Metal Gear Solid 4 Won't be actually buying thisone unless it comes out for the 360 or I end up with a PS3 somehow, but nevertheless, it's about time it came out.

4. Tales of Symphonia 2 I sure hope this makes it out for 2008, seeing as how the original was by far the best title the Gamecube had to offer.

5. Timesplitters 4 Bring back Robofish and Chinese Chef!

Hopefully these games will actually arrive in Europe in 2008, if not I will be saaaad. 🙁

1. Brawl... Does this really need a reason?

2. Mario Kart Wii: 12 player online? Hells yes.

3. Kirby's Ultra SuperStar - No US release date, but I'm still excited. Should be awesome =)

4. hmmmm, can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

1) Soul Calibur IV. A Tale of Souls Eternally Etc. Should be bloody good.

2) Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood Colon Role Playing Game for Nintendo Dual Screen. Sonic + Bioware's magic ability to poop out AAA games = cautious optimism. Also has Big the Cat.

3) Mortal Kombat 8. We know nothing about this game. The second re-invention hopefully means something good, so it can take on the Tekkens of this world.

4) Fable 2. Loved the first one.

5) Tomb Raider Underworld. Its looking quite good at the moment and Legend and Anniversary were excellent.

In no particular order:

Super Smash Brothers Brawl: Enough said.

God of War: Chains of Olympus: The original God of War is one of the best 3D action adventure games I have ever played, and I am looking forward to this spin-off.

I need to do research on upcoming games to round this list out.

Hmmm...i'm about to head to class so i'm going to throw this together rather quickly.

1. Brawl...just because it's like...going to change the world and stuff. lol

2. SFIV - New SF...that's all I have to say.

3. Tekken 6 - Yoshimitsu has undergone a change in gameplay and that could open up a whole new level of gaming.

4. Armored Core 4:[the sequel which I have forgotten the title for lol]. It's going to be like Tranformers and it will probably aid in my choosing a 360 or PS3.

5. Midnight Club Los Angeles. Not muxh has been released about this game, but I'm like 100% certain it is going to rock. :D D

No surprise, all my most anticipated picks are REHASHEN GAEMS or spinoffs.

5. Metal Gear Solid 4: Right now the only argument there is for buying a PS3. Well, that and Bloo-Rei.

4. Kingdom Hearts - 358/2 Days: i lurve butun mashing

3. The World Ends With You: 'Bout time! Something "original" to add to the list. Hits in April.

2. Sonic Chronicles: Show me your moves, Bioware.

1. Mother 3: One way or the other.

EDIT: lol updated

Hmmm...

1. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots: MGS <3

2. Kingdom Hearts - 358/2 Days: The only announced Kingdom Hearts game that I care about.

3. Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift: This absolutely needs to be localized and released. I've wanted it ever since it was announced =(

and I think that's it.

1/ Super Smash Bros. Brawl for obvious reasons. Isn't it about time we got some bloody release date confirmation for this? God, NOE.

2/ Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. Only a few more days now...

3/ No More Heroes. A couple of more weeks until this baby comes out in Europe.

4/ Fire Emblem 10. Another game that's already out in America, but the delay from it and reaching Europe is ridiculous still. And again, NOE, ffs, release a sodding release date!

1. Super Smash Bros Brawl - just like 90% of the rest of the forum
2. Sonic Chronicles - Go Bioware!
3. Samba De Amigo - this game + Wii = win
4. Kingdom Hearts sequel - Whichever sequel comes out the soonest that I'll be able to play, I want.

In no particular order;

Persona 3 - Yeah, it's been out everywhere else for ages, but local release is next month.

Rock Band - Local release isn't for a while yet.

Smash Brothers Brawl - See above.

Timeslpitters 4 - Heck yeahs!

Sega Superstars Tennis - Gum. <3

Fable 2- loved the first, lucky for me I didn't really fall into the hype that the first one got, so I couldn't really get disapointed. I just saw a commercial and thought it looked cool.

Smash Brothers Brawl- I havn't been keeping a close watch on this game, but I loved the one on the gamecube.

Banjo Kazooie 3- never bought the first 2 for the N64, but they looked pretty cool.

Sega Superstars Tennis- I'm sure this is on any Sega fan's list.

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Really looking forward to the (supposed) end of a series I've really enjoyed.

Mercenaries 2 - From what I heard, it all sounds really, really fun. Loved the first one.

World In Conflict unannounced sequel - If you've played the game, you know a sequel is coming. The first was amazing.

Red Alert 3 - loved the first two!

I'll think of more later.

GTA4. There seems to be a severe lackage of it in this thread :crazy :

Brutal Legend. Come on, Schaefer + Rock and Roll. How can it go wroooong.

Mass Effect 2. Ok, so aside from the fact that it's a trilogy it's not been officially announced and even if it were it'll be a long way off, but the first one had such a compelling universe that I can't wait to go back to it.

Half Life 2 Episode 3. Shame Valve have't released any details yet, tho. =/

Soul Calibur 4 isn't a must have game for me, but I enjoyed 2 and 3 so I'll probably end up picking it up anyway. I just hope it's more like 2 than 3.

BRAWL IS NOT IN MY LIST JAJAJAJAJAJA

Pach, Dawn of Radiance is out on March 14th. I'll be sure to rent it as soon as I finish Path of Radiance. I've played DoR and it is VASTLY superior gameplay wise.

So that can be my number 5:

5 - Dawn of Radiance. Because Sothe is a @#%$ in PoR and I want him to be a damned ninja. Also Battle Save. I cried when I got PoR in the mail and I couldn't battle save.

4 - Rock Band (Wii). Because I want to play Limelight and Working Man without buying a 360/PS3.

3 - Sega Superstars Tennis. It's got Jet Set Radio in it, that alone is worth buying in the hopes that Sega revive it like they did with NiGHTS... also Tails doing the Virtua Cop thing is amazing... and it's from the guys who made Virtua Tennis, dangit. This'll destroy Mario Tennis with no effort.

2 - Mario Kart Wii. Double Dash was pretty good, DS version was freaking amazing... if they manage to improve it further then this'll be the best racing game ever... well, for me, not for others.

1- GhostBusters. Because it is more or less Ghostbusters 3, the movie... but as a videogame. Rock on!

Oh yeah, i forgot about Rock Band. It looks pretty awesome and the DLC is usually quite cool, and if I get it I'll probably stick with it as opposed to picking up the inevitable GH4. Shame it's gonna take a while before it gets to PAL regions, though. =/

(I'd have SSBB in here, but its coming out pretty soon and rather include games that are alittle further on the horizon.)

1. Metal Gear Solid 4- I am sooooo looking forward to this game. I love all and everything that has to do with MGS. I still need to get a PS3, but this is the game I will buy one for.

2. Resident Evil 5- After the kick ass game that was RE4, and seeing how this one is turning out, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

3. Final Fantasy XIII/XIIIV- I couldn't pick one but since they are part of the same project, I'll put them both. I'm looking forward to Versus more, but XIII is up there aswell.

4. Street Fighter 4- Just seeing the footage of Ryu and the old cast redone just gives me the chills and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy.

5. Grand Theft Auto 4- loved the others, and this one looks great aswell.

Others that aren't announced/shown yet that would fight for a spot on my list: Gears of War 2, Mass Effect 2, New Zelda.

Wow...this is SOOOO old. But I figured the game in which I am going to post about doesn't have a fanbase large enough warranting a topic on its own. So i'll just say it. Armored. Core. 5. AHHHHH!!!!!1omgwtfbbgyes!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyCtzAtAw04

I kind of want to see what these western devs are going to do with the Front Mission IP. It's going to be more action-oriented than past FMs... an Armored Core clone is what everyone (dis)interested in this seems to think we'll end up with, seeing as how this is Squeenix's way of re-orientating the franchise for Western tastes.

Yea I heard something about Front Mission coming back awhile ago. I'm an AC man though...seriously doubt i'll even give this new FM a try. 😛 Anywho...my list for this year has like...been blown out of the water. Went from 3 titles...to like 10. :O

1. NMH2: DS[duh]

2. Bayonetta

3. Gran Turismo 5

4. Armored Core 5

5. NBA JAM

6. Super Street Fighter IV

7. Blazblue CS

8. King of Fighters XIII[assuming it is atleast began this year]

9. Metroid Other M

10. Golden Sun DS

I hope to my wallet's inner foldings there isn't anything else. xP

1. Persona 3 Portable. It comes out in the summer this year.

2. Final Fantasy XIII- Dunno which version I'd go for, but watching a trailer made me want to pick it up.

3. Ragnarok DS- I want to give it a try, it's based on an MMO for PC.

4. Super Street Fighter IV- although I should have the regular SFIV by now. :<

5. Pokemon HG/SS- I'm missing out on English dialogue. (I got it on import)

1. Final Fantasy XIII

2. White Knight Chronicles

3. Birth by Sleep

My old thread lives?! But I made it, it should have disappeared forever! 😮

*ahem*

I'm looking forward to:

1. Yakuza 3 - I absolutely love the first game, Kazuma Kiryu is my favourite VG character in a long time.

2. Mass Effect 2 - Okay, so this will likely be at my door tomorrow morning, but I'm still looking forward to it. 😛

3. White Knight Chronicles - More because it's finally coming out, though I hadn't seen screenshots since it's announcement, so I was a little underwhelmed when I looked at some last week.

4. Heavy Rain - I'm not too keen on Fahrenheit for some game ending decissions the designers made that I haven't gone back to overcome, but I love the atmosphere and I love story driven games.

5. Super Street Fighter 4 - Seth is apparently more cheap this time, so I may need to do some pre-emptive anger management therapy.

6. No More Heroes 2 - YES!

7. Project Needlemouse/Metroid Other M News - Not really the games themselves, yet anyway, but just information about them.

8. Super Mario Galaxy 2 - First one is one of my favourite games of all time, and this one has people made from sawn wood and Yoshi.

9. Sin & Punishment 2 - I need to play the first one more admittedly, but it was one of the earliest games that never made it I remember looking forward to and being disappointed that we never got it, until the Virtual Console anyway.

10. Crackdown 2 - I LOVE the first Crackdown, it's everything I want from a sandbox action game and then it gives you a car that can only be described as the Batmobile. This one has zombies, jet packs, four player co-op, better melee, jet packs, 16 player super powered deathmatches, and jet packs!

1. Heavy Rain - Please just don't go all "Ancient-Mayan-prophecy-and-the-Matrix-given-flesh-Dragon-Ball-Z-necrophelia" on me at the end.

2. Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver - Nuff said.

3. Bioshock 2 - Take me Rapture! I'm yours! Interested to see how they can top the originals plot twist.

4. Super Street Fighter IV - This is all based on one condition. CONFIRM DUDLEY DAMMIT! I NEED TO CALL PEOPLE ONLINE "GUTTAH TRASH"!

5. Alien Vs Predator - If this kicks even half as much booty as AvP2 did, I'll be happy.

6. Phantasy Star Zero - Coming to Aus late next month! In essence, portable PSO.

7 - Armored Core 5 - Looks like the AC's are going to be a bit smaller this time around. I'll play it to death, regardless.

8 - Final Fantasy XIII - Wonderfully timed birthday present.

9 - WoW: Cataclysm - WoW 2.0? Seems like it with all the upgrades it's getting. Gimme mah Worgens and Heroic Deadmines!

XD! 13 hours!? You crazy crazy gamer. I'm watching my roommate play it right now, actually. All three of my roommates are playing that game. Like...ridiculous. Apparently it's sold over 2 million copies already. And that was a few days ago. I love that Classic Controller Pro...will definitely be picking that up. Not sure about Monster Hunter though...never really cared too much about the game. Then again...never really looked at what it was.

I've got MH Freedom 2 on my PSP, it's a bit like PSO only no levelling up, no classes, gigantic weapons, and a tribal/prehistoric fantasy theme. You get stronger by getting better weapons and armour which you make from the remains of enemies. It's interesting but I didn't get into it myself. Phantasy Star Zero is the portable online RPG for me! Or will be at least.

Birth By Sleep and Lunar Silver Star Harmony are making me consider buying a PSP. If I can get Gundam Vs NEXT on the thing, then I simply shall.

Meanwhile, right now I am eagerly awaiting Ace Attorney Investigations and Hotel Dusk 2 for the DS. Poor thing hasn't been dusted off since I played World Ends With You.

Nothing else for now, though. Maybe No More Heroes if I have spare cash.

Let's add Fallout: New Vegas to my list, shall we? Although supposedly more RPG than FPS, and not being developed inhouse like Fallout 3, the trailer has me interested
