Well, we've all had it. We all hate it, and most of us can't control it.
Of course I'm talking about game rage.

I've had my great share of game rage in my life. Probably started from memory, is playing Mega Man X games and getting killed over and over on a part. Tossing up my SNES controller. Recent memory is playing that xbox car game Wreckless and being stuck on a level, then getting so mad, I didn't want to break my controller, so I bit it and made an indent on the side. lol Then Call of Duty 2 veteran mode, being stuck at a part and throwing my 360 controller against a couch. vibration has never been the same in that one. It sucks too, because I have and I mean HAVE TO beat the levels. I can't give up if I keep failing, so I get more mad over time, until I beat it (which with those three I did, thankfully.) And recently, got kinda mad at The Conduit for its stupid mine searching parts. That was kind of different though because it was more annoying than challenging and just made me pissed inside, but not enough to take it out on a controller or anything. lol
Hate the moments of anger they give me, but love the satisfaction of finally beating them.

How about you guys?

xD! Oh man...I have like...a whole 'nother side of me that only comes out in games. Capcom vs. SNK2 for instance. When Joe Higashi is like kicking my arse...oh Blanka for some odd reason can't be beat...I get crazy pissed. Like get in front of the V and make death threats to Blanka while flicking him off. This has also transferred over to SFIV. Blanka in that game too. What the hell is it with him? LOL Bu oh boy...i've got others...i'll stop there for now though. 😛

Well, in GAME RAGE SPEAK, We've got MOTHERFShadow the Hedgehog, which threw me into many a controller-hurling fit. Also, SON OF A Elite Beat Agents, which isn't just hard, but is merciless in its later difficulties, with the Elite bar constantly moving down, down, down, during periods where you are waiting for a beat to show up, during slider beats, during SPINNERS. You actually LOSE points while doing those. It's ridiculous. Oh, and, of course, the obligatory SUCK MY Mario Kart, but the DS and Wii version most of all because of all the nerfing. Do I even have to say it?

When I'm stuck in Wacky Workbench Zone of Sonic CD because of that contemptible floor, it's game rage.

When I'm mindlessly trying to beat down a rogue computer in Brawl because it's exploiting errant physics like the weird third floaty jump when two characters are trying to share the same air space, it's game rage.

When my useless helper bites the dust and I'm left without any viable power in facing Kirby Super Star Ultra's True Arena, it's game rage.

Whenever the Black Knight pulls a cheap critical hit on me for frocks and jollies in Fire Emblem, it's game rage.

Whenever those sodding cats refuse to drop down the chutes in the Bomamba boss battle, or Donbalon ricochets downwards, or Reala refuses to be hit by those ridiculous spheroids in NiGHTS Journey of Dreams, it's game rage.

Video games are angling to make an angry generation out of us.

I'm much calmer these days because I know what to expect in racing games and I can usually see a loss coming from a mile away in rpgs, but Mario Kart 64 led to my controller being flung at the wall many times by my sister and me. These days, I have the occasional slip-up (Luigi's Purple Coins, any hard mode stage in Sonic Unleashed dlc, any loss in a Fire Emblem which is why I've stopped playing them) which results in mass swearing.

While I do get angry at games sometimes, I don't think I've ever got a full on rage at a game. I'm far too used to being bad at them to get that worked up over them 🙂

THS on the other hand has an Xbox 360 controller in his room which is held together with manky sticky tape after a rage fit on a FPS I can't remember. It's either Halo or Gears. I dunno. While he is more prone to raging over them than I am, I think he's only gone into the full smashing-controllers-against-the-floor rage mode once. So yeah

Game rage? Latest that comes to mind was when I was playing UNO with Susan, OTB and Saff.

#%*% you, UNO.

I dunno about rage but after playing online with people, I'll stare angrily at my controller/arcade stick/whatever I'm using at the time, grip it real hard, set it down and ignore the TV screen for a bit.

DS3 controllers are a bit too costly to toss around...:/

Most of my game rage comes from fighting games when I occasionally need to get in only one more hit to defeat my opponent but still end up getting KOed anyway.

^Oh yes and since I've started playing Street Fighter IV I've been reacquainted with that feeling a lot recently. Of course, it's also satisfying when one hit is all that it would take to do me in and I manage to pull it out.

However, I don't think I've ever "raged" at a game. I never thrown a controller or anything. However, it's the fighting games I play that tend to get me ticked off the most. Most other games I play it tends to be obvious whether or not I'm going to win.

I'll never be able to play her IF she's definitely a weak player, since I'm a super-strong player and vow to never challenge weak players. OH, I WENT THERE.

Are you referring to a King Of Fighters game? If so, I think I've only ever played a few King Of Fighters games at various arcades, but never versions for home consoles. That might change someday soon though. Mai Shiranui FTW!

King of Fighters indeed. But I hear yea. I've only played "The Orochi Saga" so i'm right there with you. There's this clan mode thing on he game and i'd love to start a Mofo Clan on PSN. We'd destroy those other n00bs! >_> I mean...yes Mai rocks indeed. Unfortunately she isn't in KoFXII, right out of the box atleast. *shrugs*

I really don't get gamer rage all too often. Even in something like Fire Emblem where one false move can destroy an hour of planning (especially since I'm the type that doesn't let any of my units die) will get nothing more than a facepalm and a snide remark.

...with the major exception of fighting games. However, it's pretty much limited to when I'm going against the CPU when it does things that are impossible for even a tournament player to execute like block every single attack and attacking with a ridiculously high priority.

Once, my rage got the better of me during a heated bout with Mike Tyson in Punch-Out!! whilst vacationing in the city of Bloomerton... and when I came to, I was lying beside a huge crater.

Incidentally, don't bother trying to find Bloomerton on any map. You won't find it... well, not anymore.

xD! You're so silly Psx! But I almost had an episode last night actually. Doing the Score Attack Mode on Blazblue[highest difficulty] and I was fighting Taokaka and she's like a hyper cat girl thing. My gosh....the game had to've glitched because she did like the same attack....I kid you not 16 times in a row and it was almost like an infinite loop. Luckily I got out of it and Distortion Drived her @$$.

Yep...Rage was transferred to my character in the game because i'm talking straight up demolition. It rocked!

I have had quite a few moments in my gaming life that I'm not proud of, I broke a pad at the early chase missions in GTAIV, and hurt my hand punching the TV in Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe, but to be honest there is nothing that sums up my gamer rage than one particular character.

Just wave an unmodded, official Xbox 360 controller in front of ol' 'Gief. It's like his kryptonite.

You talkin' 'bout Footstool jumping there, kiddo?

And yes... %$*$ THAT PHYSICS ENGINE. That physics engine is so weird... so very... random. I've given up trying to improve in the levels involving Bomamba. THEY CAN STAY AT C RANK FOR ALL I CARE. When the physics engine is such that it`s easier to drop the cats in the holes when they're standing up... I just... I just can't do it anymore.

I dunno about rage but after playing online with people, I'll stare angrily at my controller/arcade stick/whatever I'm using at the time, grip it real hard, set it down and ignore the TV screen for a bit.

I've experienced this playing online in Mario Kart against some other racers. I remember their score/average thingy being around 8,000/9,000.
Mine's is at 7,500 or so but I still ocassionally beat people higher up than me. Anyway, yeah... I got creamed OVER and OVER again. There were like, only the 3 of us, too, so no overly powerful items to help you catch up. I did just barely manage to make 2nd place once, though. *sigh* A particularly frustrating instance is when the Luigi in front of me got an item box and ended up getting the Thunder Cloud. I'm like "Yay! The tables are turni- What in the world!?" He just stopped, let me pass him, gave the lightning cloud to me (you have to bump into someone to pass it off) and I couldn't catch up to him or the Daisy, so I ended up getting shrunk and lagging WAAAY behind. I dropped out of the group before I lost too many points, though, so I'm glad about that.

There was also this person and their geust online that probably experienced this because of me. I just kept beating them and beating them in races... it went on for over an hour. I got a lot of points that day... >_> It's probably why I'm in the 7,500s now. (Or not, I do place high pretty often.)

Also sometimes I tend to win over and over again when playing Brawl online, sometimes the players disconnect. I don't know the reason why, but some of those quits MAY be due to game rage.

XD I also remember this one time I saw Phil (A forumer here.) in Flashchat and I asked if he had Brawl online and he was like "Yeah". So we played. Note that I probably had around 80 or more hours clocked in the game at that point (over 100 now). So yeah... he got KUH-REEEEAMED. He beat me once when I used Ganondorf (Not very good with him... he's powerful, but if you miss... punishment ahoy! I'm more of an aggressive player and you need to pick your moments with Ganondorf. Not very good with that. @_@) But other than that... he got beaten. Badly.

*Reviews his post* This was more about me probably making people experience Game Rage than me experiencing it, isn't it? Oops, lol.
Oh well.

haha, I don't usually get angry at all with video games, but I felt like throwing my DS out the window while playing Rhythm Heaven (go ahead, laugh. I know.). Oh my gosh, I traded in that game because it wouldnt stop telling me about how much I sucked at playing it. Don't get me started about how many things ticked me off about that game.

Mario Kart Wii totally infurated me during the 150cc tournament races. Those stupid blue shells kept bumping me from first to last in every final lap! >.<; and I'll never play Sonic 06 again! I've never played a game before where a level starts with an involuntary fall into a bottomless pit. Controls were awful, camera sucked, frame rate was awful, human-hedgehog romance made me facepalm yada yada yada.... You all know what I'm talking about.

Actually, no, though I can see where that would have been the logical assumption. There's some...anomaly, let us say, where two characters are trying to basically occupy the same space in the air. Usually, one is slightly higher than the other. The higher one gets this wacky third jump that makes it look like he did a floaty ricochet off the other one; it's not a footstool jump animation, which is what should naturally come. It's highly situational, and I haven't seen any videos to illustrate my point better. All I can say is that, if you're really observant in playing, you'll eventually catch sight of it once. It's very distinct, and also the kind of garbage that gave the computer back what should have been a lost stock so many times that I cracked my GCN controller along the side seam from pounding it on the floor in outrage.

Also glad to see that I'm not alone in Bomamba rage. If it makes you feel any better though, I somehow aced that boss after innumerable tries. In fact, it wasn't even the holdout to getting all A ranks for the game...I think the renegade was Sky Concert for Memory Forest.

Thanks for fixing the gender and no, I recently got the 360 (so that's the version I own) not a PS3. I don't currently do "online" play though. Too much hassle when I barely play games on average more than twice a week while I'm on vacation and at most once every couple of months when I'm working.

Just recently, I had an experience with this player online while playing Brawl.
He didn't seem too special when all 4 of us was playing. Then The Kirby player in the room decided to go to the side and taunt for the duration of the match, and one of the other players I had an alliance (sort of) with decided to join him, leaving us alone to engage in 1-on-1.

He was playing Captain Falcon and dodged all my attacks and projectiles (was playing as link, btw) and countered them, even getting in a falcon punch once or twice and winning most of the matches. In a humiliating display I used a deku nut on him on 3 seperate occasions during a match and he shielded all of them, leaving me dizzied and him to attack.

Then the player I was in an alliance in decided to help. He still kicked our butts. I decided to sit back next round and watch... he was playing a Falco that round and he chaingrabbed the dude and spiked him off the stage... (Smashville) then he did the same to me. So we went back to teaming up on him... mostly we spammed projectliles but he was good with his reflector and shield until finally I decided to just run up to him and engage in Melee... I geuss I surprised him, cuz' he didn't react to the following combo which pushed him off the edge of the screen (Bridge of Eldin this time). I think he still won that round, but I remember winning twice... Anyway, I managed to knock him out the match after that (Corneria) and won... then after that I quit because the person I was teaming up on him with dropped out and NO WAY WAS I GOING TO TAKE HIM ON ALONE.

...so... yeah ... that was my experience with Game rage.
