SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - June 9, 2010 - Telltale Games, the
leading independent digital publisher and developer of episodic
interactive entertainment, today announced a multi-year, two-title video
game development deal with Universal Partnerships & Licensing.
Telltale Games has secured the rights to create video games based on two
of Universal Pictures' most popular intellectual properties, Back
to the Future and Jurassic Park. The first game released
under the agreement will be a Telltale Games "season" based on the
successful Back to the Future series of films. With more than five million episodes delivered to date across all
major video game platforms, Telltale is the acknowledged leader in
digitally delivering episodic content to consumers. The agreement
broadens Telltale's product offerings into new genres and new styles of
gameplay."Our partnership with Universal is an exciting next step in our
continued growth as a mass-market games publisher and developer," said
Dan Connors, CEO of Telltale Games. "We are all huge fans of both of
these franchises. For Back to the Future and Jurassic Park
we will leverage Telltale's expertise in story-telling and game design
to deliver on the unique elements of each series with our goal being to
create compelling cinematic adventures paying homage to each franchise."
Hopefully they can pull it off without ruining bttf francise!
Jurassic Park should be fine, there's plenty of material there without needing to rely on the movies. But BttF? How's that going to work?
Back to the Future kart racer. You know that will happen.

"When this baby hits 88 miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious snaking."
And by baby he means Baby Marty...o...
Being developed by Telltale Games, the Back to the Future
game series will include the likenesses of Michael J. Fox and
Christopher Lloyd, who portrayed the characters Marty McFly and Doc
Brown in the films, which listed Steven Spielberg among the executive
producers. (Lloyd will also provide his voice for the games.)Bob
Gale, who wrote the screenplays for the three films, is working with the
game developers on the plot for the planned five "episodes".
Gee, this is heavy! 8D
My prediction? In each episode, you will time travel to some famous time period as Marty McFly, maybe or maybe not used in the movies, and possibly a futuristic period. In that time period, you find yourself in an open world environment where you roam and complete missions that tie together into some quest to find Doc Brown and get him to the time machine safely.
Possibly a larger final episode where some clusterfuck situation comes up like this one...
1. In the end of the 4th episode, Doc accidentally time travels to a previous time period and now Marty feels obligated to go back and save him.
2. Marty finds out that Doc was shot, and then goes further back in time to keep him from being shot.
3. Marty successfully keeps Doc out of trouble, but then finds himself in a showdown with a villain who also happens to be the ancestor of a bully from your home time period (although that fact isnt a plot device, for some reason)
4. They get back to the time machine.
(Yes, I know, sounds like BttF 3, right? Yeah, heres where it changes...)
5. They end up accidentally time traveling to the wrong time period again, and find themselves in the far, far, far future, with alot of new technology.
6. But some maniac captures Doc, and then challenges Marty to a World of Warcraft PvP battle for Doc's fate. This villain happens to be the descendant of a bully from their home time period, although again, that doesn't become a plot device for some reason.
7. Marty, who has no experience with WoW, miraculously wins somehow.
8. Marty tries to capture Doc back, but this villain pulls out a futuristic weapon and attacks.
9. Since we all know Marty is a trained ninja master, he kicks the *++@ out of this Tannen villain.
10. They get back in the time machine, and successfully return to their home time period!
11. Oh, *++@. They screwed up the time space continuum when they were in the past. Oh well, guess it's a good time to announce the sequel!
Oh hey guys. So tomorrow the 25th anniversary DVD/Blu Rays come out... and it looks like TellTale has an offer to mark the occasion:

Episode 1 for free . Game isn't out yet of course, but free is free. If the coupon code doesn't copy over it is 121GIGAWATTS.
So yeah
^ Ha. Turns out you can't play the free Episode 1 download until February, when Episode 2 hits.
Meanwhile, for those of you who like to spend money, the first Episode is now up and available to download on the Telltale site. But last I heard, the site was getting hammered so there might be some trouble. If you're getting it, do post impressions please. I might pick it up on Steam eventually (it'll be my first Telltale game).
Got it, played it, loved it.
Controls take some getting used to, but is otherwise responsive. Voice acting are all wonderful and I do enjoy the many dialogue options. They don't really make too much of a difference if you choose one response over another, regrettably. It's a largely straightforward game, but for three hours per episode, it's a decent length. I did enjoy the story so far and I can fast accept this as canonical to the events od the trilogy. I eagerly await Episode 2.
