in before halo ports?
It doesn't really make a difference to the consumer as I understand it. It just means that Bungie owns Bungie (again), as opposed to Microsoft owns Bungie. Therefore they're free to do as they want and not what Microsoft wants, but they've still got an exclusitivity contract with Microsoft for the 360 platform.

So, does that mean they're second party or have they always been second party.
As far as I understand they were first-party but now they're second-party.
They're basically like Rare, minus all that sucking Rare's been doing for the past 7 years.
Oh and for the record, Microsoft have ownership over the Halo IP. In other words, the only porting it's ever going to do for the time being is to Microsoft platforms.
But how on Earth did they earn all that money to buy themselves back? /sarcasm
aw, I was going to post this in the SPA...
Hahah nice cartoon. But this is interesting indeed. Although since their exclusitivity still relies on the 360 and Microsoft platforms are the only ones capable of receiving Halo ports....then pretty much everything is the same. Just now Micro can't tell Bungie to make a a particular game. Heh, Antipode...I didn't see your sarcasm when I first read your post...I do see it now though. Haha!
