so i went to walmart the other day. my mind bent on buying a new DS game, i came down to the choice between Yoshi's island DS, and Hoshigami (a game i heard nothing about) i decided on Hoshigami, thinking that it would be a kinda fun Rpg.

OH god was i wrong. first off, the story seems almost stereotypically anime. second, the battles take forever almost 20 minutes per battle.

the enemy always outnumbers you. and while the game plays alot like fire emblem, there are a few differences. i got to like the third battle and it said i could only use 5 out of 7 of my guys, whereas the enemy numbered almost 15. your little throwaway nameless guys may stand a chance against the enemy one on one, but when another enemy comes up and tag teams you, then they don't stand a chance.

also, maybe i'm just imagining it, but it seems like your enemy attacks two times for every one of yours.

so the whole point of this little story is don't be an idiot like me and spend your hard earned money on hoshigami, you'll greatly regret it.

I tend to be wary of trying new games... I won't unless they have received high scores from IGN or elsewhere.

I only bought Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk because you Brits recommended them to me. And I love them

I don't buy any game I haven't seen a trailer, press release, review, or collection of screenshots/demos from.

If a game looks interesting, I look it up. I don't tend to go by review scores on websites, though.

Don't buy games you have never heard of is a good rule of thumb.

Hoshigami is a port of a PS1 strat rpg known for its difficulty.

Yea i've noticed as i've grown up i've stuck with like a handful of gaming series. Sonic[unfortunately lol], Midnight Club, Capcom fighters[Street Fighter, MvC, CvSNK], Virtual On, Madden/NCAA, Armored Core, and then other games within a certain genre. I know i'm missing out on a ton of games by sticking to the same stuff, but i'm guessing in due time if I ever get a PS3 i'll greatly broaden my games[MGS for one].

and obviously crappy storyline with unimaginative characters with lame anime stereotypes.

In that case. Virtual On Marz. Nothing compared to its predecessors. Gosh...it makes me sick. Really though. Hitmaker/AM3 should be ashamed.
