Please take a moment to think about this idea.
Mario Party 8: The Final Brawl, for the Nintendo Gamecube.
Mario and friends are back in the 8th, and hopefully the final, party game of his life. The synopsis: Bowser is REALLY upset that he keeps losing to Mario and his friends. He's guided a giant tornado towards the Musroom Kingdom and Mario and co. must get rid of it within approximetly 16 hours. You have five boards to clear: Soaring Sky, Cavernville, Coral Land, Flame Gardens, Avalanche Mountain. You now play 92 new exciting mini-games including, Wood You Be Mine, Haystack Heroes, Fruit Slots, Radar Laser. Can Mario stop the tornado from happening? It's huge, exciting fun for all party goers!
Playable characters:
Mario, Yoshi, Luigi, Peach, Wario, Daisy, Waluigi, Donkey Kong (glad to have him back!), Toad, Boo, Toadette, Birdo.

I suppose Mario Party 8 will happen.
I'd doubt it would be the last one though. Especially with the new Wii Controller.
Some more ideas on the mini-games themselves, rather then stroy details and character information would be better.
I second what Pach says. If you are actually playing Mario Party for the story... then may God have mercy on your soul
Mario Party has a story?
I'd only play another Mario Party if it was made for DS. I can see some potential for creative mini-games in that.
If we MUST have another Mario Party, it'd be nice if they got Mitsuda back to do the music. I still hum the "Toad preps you for minigame" tune from MP1 at inopportune moments...
If it was made to closely follow the Wii controller, I could see some potential... but doubt it'll natch the new Wario Ware.
