You're best holding off on the 360 until we have solid numbers on the number of units with power-supply issues.

So Kameo isn't that great? You'd think a game that took Rare atleast five years to develope (it was scheduled for a N64 release, then bumped to the Cube...) would be decent at worst...

There are plenty of five-year development games that turned out bad.
Daikatana, for instance.

Okay.

This topic is about the Xbox 360 and Xbox, I don't wanna hear anymore fanboy bashing on Mircosoft and Sony, I will stop the Nintendo flames if you tell those fanboys to stop flaming Xbox and PS2.

As for Kameo, it's more than likely and overrated game that Rare spent serveral years developing and probably orginally was supposed to get a Xbox release this year.

The killer app title for Xbox 360 is most likely "Perfect Dark Zero" I haven't played it yet but it's probably really good after all it's the first PD title since the Nintendo 64.

Are you on the same forum as the rest of us here?

Apparently PD: Zero is all right. But it wasn't the big wait till Halo 3 game. Apparently Call Of Duty 2 is the big killer app for the launch. Which you can get on PC for 20 quid less. So yet again wait and see policy wins again.

Also A million Xbox 360s are off to Japan for adoption. Bit optimistic really considering only half a million Xboxs was sold in 4 and a half years. And the only game that seems to interest the japanese has been delayed. Guess for a cookie.

Yea COD2 is very good. It gets my vote as the Killer Launch app, and another good game, Tiger Woods PGA tour 06 as well... It may sound funny but hey golf on the 360 and in hi-def (played at a friends place) is amazing. You can literatly see the freakin muscles on your character while they are in action like tensing up for a swing.

I however, have been playing Perfect Dark Zero and Need for Speed Most Wanted. Im loving PDZ since it still has that old school goldeneye feeling to it. Most wanted has some great cop chases in it, but it needs more since it cut a lot out of the customiztion. I used to have PGR3 but a little hishap happened, so I exchanged it for NFS:MW...

So after two weeks with it, Im still enjoying it.

My friend bought a 360 on Friday, so I've been round his house giving it a go, and I figured I'll give you all my opinion on it.

First off, he had a bit of trouble with the aerial, but he got that fixed and we were off. (The manager of the local Gamestation got a 360 which doesn't work at all...Poor guy.)

Anyway, the controller. I am not a big fan of it. In fact, I could go so far to say I hate it. But I won't. It fits into your hand perfectly. But I find it too small. The shoulder buttons are too small as well and I kept hitting the smaller ones accidentally. Oh, and setting up controllers wirelessly is bothersome.

I played:

Perfect Dark Zero - The textures and levels look AMAZING. The character models are so-so. gameplay is very similar to the original PD as well. Which makes this my fave launch title that I've played.

Call of Duty 2: The amount of enimies you can have on screen at one time really shows the power of the 360. Watching about 50 of them charge over the horizon at once is brill. Graphics are pretty good too.

Kameo - Pretty much average all around. The only thing that truely stands out is that you can have quite a bit of action going on at once on the screen. It's not a bad title by all means, it just doesn't show off the 360's true power.

By far the best thing about the 360 in my eyes is being able to call up the system menu at any time, allowing you to select different music tracks to play, check your hard drive and such. Also the gamerscore/acheivements system is pretty neat. Which shows your acheivements in different games and such, and allowing you to upload this information to Live is pretty awesome.

The downsides? Like I said, I personally dislike the controller, the powerpack is an eyesore, the lack of killer game titles, and the price (There's no way I'm paying 50 for games).

Well, I'm done. *vanish*

Well at least he provided a valid reason. It's not like I'm completely ignorant to the fact that most people don't have my freakish, long-fingered hands. Your sole argument was that it is based on a proven formula, and therefore is not sufficiently revolutioney for you.

Oh yeah, and pretty much every game I've played so far on the 360, with the exception of PGR3, has sucked. Except for COD2, which is automatically protected from my wrath since I'll most likely treat unfairly any console shooter with a PC version I can compare it to. Like, PDZ? What the hell? More like Perfect Dark: Zero Innovation.

Basically, I'm loving the console and hating the games. Here's hoping DOA4 will live up to the hype.

I would recommend PGR3 if your a car nut like me. But to experiance it fully like every other game, you need High-def no matter what on this. All the detailing on this game has is unbeleavable. A true 1st person view in the Drivers seat with guages working and Mirrors showing reflection make this experiance like no other I have seen and done before. All the cars sound different, from the Ford Mustang SVT rawring v-8 to the Turbo "hiss" of a Nissan Skyline R-34 Nur. Did I forget to mention to put this in surround sound as well. Hey you wanna take a break, you can always check on your friends racing online, pop on Gotham TV and watch them with your favorite tunes in the background...

And speaking of music... Classical Music and Racing really go together. Which there are over 9 genres in the game, but if theres nothing you like in it you can always put your own in there. Which is always a plus!

It'll probably be a looong time before I get to play it, but I'm still looking forward to playing Perfect Dark Zero. It's not a title in which I particularly care about innovation; I'd be happy with something which fixes the slight problems I have with the original (variable framerate, dated graphics, aliens) and doesn't change anything else. From what I've heard, it's not really a better game (and some of the problems like silly voice acting remain), but most of the major complaints I've heard aren't things I'm generally bothered about. But it does sound like it's not very good when it moves from the corridors into epic open outdoor battles - one description I read of it was "it's great when it tries to be Perfect Dark, it's rubbish when it tries to be Halo".

More importantly, it sounds like it has most of the nice little things I love about GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, like optional stealth, immensely customisable and accessible multiplayer options, lots of stats at the end of each level and the saving of best times (a simple thing which adds immeasurably to the longevity of GE and PD). No unlockable cheat options though. :(

I'm also looking forward to using that pad; as impractical as pads are for FPSs compared to a keyboard and mouse (it goes without saying that a K+M player will always beat a pad player), I do find them more fun to use for almost anything except strategy games. That's largely thanks to the triggers, and there's also something about the way the targeting reticules of PC FPSs seem permanently fixed to the dead centre of the screen and the way you can (depending on the mouse sensitivity) instantly twitch over to the target you want that seems somehow unnatural to me. By contrast, I like the manual aiming mode of GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, which is crucial to those games' balance as it forces you to stop moving if you want to aim as precisely as possible - just like a real gun. It's slower, but feels a bit more fluid than the "twitchiness" of Half-Life, say. From what I hear Perfect Dark Zero doesn't force you to stop completely when aiming but just slows you down, which is a bit of a compromise but probably works well.

So, yeah, I still really want to play it, even if it's not quite as supremely Godlike as GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. :)

I'm also looking forward to the ridiculous but spectacular excesses of Black. I just hope it can keep up a decent framerate on the PS2...

I am with Cyc here in a less enthusiastic way. The console's ok and the joybad deisgn ain't bad. The games are mostly pretty awful, although CoD2 sounds ok... but is, after all, a port.
Mind you, the PS2 had a crappy line-up to start with. This is why I'm unlikely to ever buy consoles when they launch.
Give the thing 2 years, wait for the price to drop, then see if it's worth buying.

Not a port, it's a multi-platform release. Calling it a port implies that it was originally a PC game and then they converted it afterwards, when they actually just made both versions at the same time.

BTW, the PC version is still better.
