Because Bat asked so nicely...

Jump! Ultimate Stars is the manga based fighting game sequel to one of the hottest DS games; Jump! Super Stars. Jump Ultimate Stars improves on all of the gameplay mechanics of the last game whilst adding a host of new content in.

The last game had roughly 30 characters, with the sequel having over 50. There are plenty more new Support and Help komas now, which have differing effects. Supports can be assigned to the L or R button instead of having to tap the touch screen, and the help komas are never actively touched, their effects are always given to the playable characters.

A new 'leader' system allows you to name one of your playable characters as the leader, which, if you ko with them get 2 points rather then the standard 1. One the flip side, if they're ko'd, you lose 2 points.

The stages are much more involving then the previous games, which basically added little. The One Piece stage has a firing cannon whilst the Bobobo stage has occasional thunderbolts. Characters can now grab to the arena sides making staying in the arena more fairer than before.

Series are now given their own space, rather than be a part of a massive world, and it's far easier to unlock the characters from your own favourite series rather than have to wait. The unlocking system is replaced to make things fairer for us. Instead of a silohuette of a character from whom you have to guess correctly, this time you spend gems earned from battling which allow you to unlock the koma. This allows you to choose which characters you want to unlock first whilst helping add longevity to get the number of gems you need, rather than just have the relevant help koma.

So far, I have to say this game is vastly improved on the original and it even has wi-fi. Unfortunately, wi-fi play against the Japanese isn't too much fun... servers are only located in japan and matches are extremely laggy. Apparently, friend code play is fine although I can't confirm it so far.

But still, single play is great on its own that any owners of Superstars can attest to.

I'm wondering if anyone has got this game, and what their thoughts are on it, plus whether or not they'd fancy sharing their friend code for a game?

Wow... The more stuff like this I see, the closer a DS gets to being mandatory.

I keep asking him this and he keeps telling me no, because apparently the stage you have to beat to get to him is awkward or something.

Normally, this wouldn't interest me. I don't take a big interest in Naruto, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh and the like....

BUT WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME THERE WERE KINNIKUMAN CHARACTERS?!??!?! *Starts saving pennies*

Is there any chance in hell this game is coming to America, seeing as the first one didn't. Either way, it's all the more for me to buy a DS as soon as I have the money to.

It'll never get a western release. There's the whole issue about the many different companies in the west owning the licenses to the different series which simply wouldn't work out.

The best you can do to get this game is either import it online or hope you see it in a shop that's already imported it.

The language barrier isn't an issue, it's all easily navigatable (the menu has english subtitles, and the story mode's missions have an FAQ online).

I've unlocked Dio now, so's you know. But I don't know if his steamroller attack is in since I've only been arsed to unlock his 4 koma 8O.

Yet oddly enough, the local Best Buy is carrying its predecessor under an import label, so anything's possible regarding whether or not we can buy it over here or not. Ah well, always Amazon and eBay. English subtitles? FINALLY.
