It's Kirby Super Star Ultra and it's out now. Maybe for you.

-----------------------------------------------

What people have been dreaming of since the GBA came out is finally happening. Titled Kirby Ultra Super Deluxe (Super Star was called Hoshi no Kaabii: Super Deluxe in Japan), this has some remade graphics and cut scenes and more ultra.

Kirby Ultra Super Star (or Kirby's Ultra Fun Pack for you Europeans ) makes me feel cuddly inside.

Screens!

mmmmm... Probably one of my top 10 favorites. Maybe even top 5. Amazing game... I just made a mental preorder =)

Super Star was such a revolutionary title. For all intents and purposes, it was Smash Bros precursor. Different attacks when you pressed the control pad in a different direction. The Arena === All Star Mode... And one of the bosses is Master Hand... with Tiki face.

Almost forgot about this >> I didn't realize both SMRPG and KSS were rated by the ESRB... and scheduled for release this year Oo.

I just noticed this. Check out the bottom screen, in the bottom right hand corner

That's one of them there wireless health bar things. With helper Burnin' Leo igniting a fuse for Kirby, I think it's safe to assume there will be wireless 2player. Though I doubt it will be single cart - unless it wants to load all of Great Cave Offensive into another person's DS.

Odds are it will be multi-card only.

What an ugly title. >.> Meh, must be horrible english translation.

Cool graphichs on the cut-scenes, though. The game looks promising as well. But the one thing I don't like about Kirby games are how easy they are to complete.

Alright Rabid you totally saw this on X-Play in the Gaming Update, because I saw it there too and thought it was the name of that Wii title they'd be working on for so long[and I think I jumped through my roof]. Immediately wikipedia-ed that stuff. But no...it's for DS[which I no longer have] but hey that's cool though. I've actually only watched my my cousin play some Kirby game for SNES. Might've been Dreamland 3 or something. I really want to get into Kirby though, the VC will probably be my way of doing so too. Oh and yea Hiro...SMRPG finally came out in Japan like the other day didn't it? Things are looking good for the states.

nuh-uh!

I totally saw this on the internets last October!

I'm glad to see happy Kirby for a change. I was kind of annoyed with the "angry Kirby syndrome" that's been festering around in the localized Kirby boxarts as this article pointed out to me how long ago. Hopefully they don't change it to make him look angrier and cooler to all the mature 8-year-olds of America.

Meta Knight Ultra sounds like we'll be able to play as Meta Knight throughout the game like in the Kirby's Adventure GBA remake

Also, I was most definitely expecting Kirby Ultra Super Star.

I also also fixed the title of the topic

XD! The randomness of this board. Anyway...I agree SH...G4 is pretty lame now. Other than AOTS and X-Play...it's not really worrth anything. Then Ninja Warrior is cool, but not video game related so I don't watch it very often. G4 has under gone the same path as Spike. *shakes head* Tsk tsk tsk...

HAHAHAH! "Those eyes! Those horrible yellow eyes!!!" Oh wait...wrong reference. Mean Kirby is...like just as cute. I don't know what Nintendo is trying to do. Make him appear as an angst filled adolescent?

Some new footage. About half of the video is footage of the new cutscenes of which I am quite pleased with. There's a few seconds at the end that show off a couple of the new touchscreen minigames of which I have no idea what is going on in the 2nd one. The rest is footage of what appears to be a remake of Kirby Super Star of which looks like a remake of Kirby Super Star.

edit: September 22 release

edit2: Guess I was right about playable Meta Knight - "In other games, you race King Dedede for food, compete in a punching contest or even adventure as Meta Knight." Though, the way this is worded makes me believe it will be for a single new game and not the entire game as previously thought. Dunno how that would've worked with Revenge of Meta Knight without it being unplayable anyway.

Another quote "...to Meta Knight's quest to train for the ultimate battle" also helps me believe it's a new game since I'm pretty positive that wasn't the story for Revenge of Meta Knight; unless they changed it for some reason.

edit3: 12 games total. The original advertised 8 even though there was a secret 9th. I don't know how they're counting them. I'm guessing they're not counting the 3 new touchscreen minigames since 8 + the revealed 2 + 3 = 13. So that would leave either one or two more new games (depending if the 9th game in the original is counted) still to be revealed.

Revenge of the King will be a traditional platformer (like most of the other games) while Meta Knight Ultra is labeled as a "touch skill game." Who knows what that means.

Somebody talk about this, I'm tired of editing the same post over and over again. :[

I can't see the edits, as nothing gets bumped =|

AWESOME @ new games though. Very excited.

I'll probably trade some games in soon and throw some $$$ down on this

NO. They are not mini games. There are at least 3 new mini games, but the game has several full length Kirby games in it.

err... well, I wouldn't call them minigames. At least I wouldn't consider them so based on my view of what a minigame is. Sure, there are some minigames in there (Megaton Punch, Samurai Kirby, Gourmet Race I guess) plus the three new touchscreen-based ones I mentioned. But the rest are full-fledged Kirby games. Short Kirby games, but lengthly enough to not be considered mini.

...Well, they vary in length. Beatable in one sitting (maybe more for a couple). The first couple games (like Spring Breeze, a pseudo-remake of Kirby's Dreamland) are very short. But they tend to get a bit longer. Great Cave Offensive, a sort of Metroid-like adventure-orientated game, can take a while to find your way to the end; even longer if you want to find all 60 treasures.

So uh... eh... I dunno

So uh, Nintendo Power covered the game. It basically just goes over all the games that were in the original game, plus the three touchscreen minigames. Has a bunch of new screenshots to go with descriptions. Details about the rest of the new content are still secret. Here are some scanz I found:

page 1
page 2
page 3

Notable mentions:
-13 total games (two new adventure modes, two new arena modes)
-2player Gourmet Race confirmed

I'm curious about those Arena modes now. I imagined them having something like an Arena "Classic" which would be the same Arena from the SNES game, and a "New" Arena which would add the new (mini)bosses that would probably be in the new adventure modes. It'd also be cool if there was a multiplayer battle mode where two or more Kirbies chose an ability and then, like, beat the **** out of eachother. But I won't get my hopes up for that.

Also, Megaton Punch and Samurai Kirby look strikingly identical to their SNES counterparts.

thankyooooou

Well, here's a couple new magazine scans with new art and screens. Still nothing known about the new modes, and it will probably stay that way until the game is released. But! There are new unrelated details mentioned inside.

First off, meet Capsule-J2, the awkward sequel to Capsule-J, the jet ability helper/enemy from the original game.

Dunno why they felt the need to change him. I keep thinking he's wearing a hat of some sort; at least in the sprites.

Lastly, someone from the Rainbow Resort message boards translated the pages. They confirm that singlecart co-op exists. But here's the thing: you both have to share a single screen. That means the person without the game uses their DS as a controller while starring at the other person's DS. Not exactly favorable, but I'm glad they threw it in as opposed to no singlecart co-op at all. Of course, multicart co-op will allow both players to use their own seperate screens.

Anyway, 12 more days to go! ...In North America at least.

Have you people considered that kirby might be angry in all of his box art because he was nerfed in melee after being the top character in super smash bros?

New news! About the new modes! Apparently, a new Nintendo Power came out and they reviewed the game (9.0) and detailed the new additions to the game.

Scan.

Okay, so I guess Meta Knight Ultra isn't a new Meta Knight-only game, but rather, as I originally thought, the ability to play through the game as Meta Knight. Revenge of the King is a darker, more difficult take on the first and the easiest game in the collection, Spring Breeze.

So let's see, Spring Breeze was kind of a remake of Kirby's Dreamland. Spring Breeze is getting remade in this game. And Revenge of the King is a remake of Spring Breeze. So Revenge of the King is a remake of a remake of a remake?

One of the new arena modes is called Helper to Hero which has you playing as, well, a helper rather than Kirby. I could understand it being more difficult if you're not given a choice of two random abilities between each match like in the original Arena. And the other arena mode is called The True Arena which, as I imagined would happen, is probably the original Arena with Revenge of the King bosses tacked on.

But what if there's no tomatoes? What if there's no tomatoes?!
