Formely announced as a PlayStation 3 exclusive, Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will now also be released on Xbox 360, with a cut-down Nintendo Wii version also a possibility, according to online reports.
The new game in the multi-million selling franchise will feature objective-based missions, while Xboxliveaddicts claims the Xbox 360 version will also include exclusive content and gameplay not offered in the PS3 edition.
Starring the infamous character Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, as with other titles in the series, is being created by renowned designer Hideo Kojima.
A Konami spokesman said of the PS3 edition: "The game is set after the events of MGS2 and players will reprise the role of top secret agent Solid Snake with appearances by characters throughout the MGS series. With the addition of online capability, MGS4 is a leading product and will signal the dawn of a new gaming era for the MGS series."
The firm also added: "MGS4 brings a totally new concept and situation, resulting in the toughest Metal Gear infiltration mission ever devised."
Industry insiders claim publisher Konami is also in talks with Nintendo to bring a cut-down MGS game to the Wii.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be released in 2008.
However, the following site has their story slightly altered...

A cease and desist? Hmmmm....
It's something I would really really like, but I'm not gonna trust it until it comes out of Kojima's mouth.
if it's true, though, Sony'll have to find something new to entice me to the PS3.
I'm calling bs on this right now... especially with regards to the Nintendo version... but we've seen weirder things happen
The Apocolypse?
This was needed.
Until Kojima himself says it's going to the 360, I'm not believing any of this for a second. Seriously.
Where is my Wii version? @ Shadow Hog
To be honest, if this comes to the 360, the PS3 becomes a ton more screwed.
If it doesn't, nothing changes. The PS3 becomes only very slightly less screwed.
What Wonder said. Could this be the end of the PS3?
Not that this is the time or place for it, but the PS3 isn't going to end. Sony predict it to last for 10 years, and once it starts gaining momentum it could quite easily achieve such. Sony have got enough resources to cover for the starting line, even if it is rough.
It'd be awesome if it did happen (even though I'm not interested in the game myself), but wasn't there just an article recently where Kojima bascially said the 360 was inferior to the PS3? Doesn't seem like this is very likely to actually happen.
This seems insanely awesome if is in fact true. Does anyone know the sites creditbility? Can it be trusted? Wasn't these rumors out on the net Way before this article? If it's true then I might never get a PS3. I baseing my entire purchase on a PS3 because of Metal Gear's exclusive to Sony. And I'm only doing that because I'm such a die hard fan of the Metal Gear franchise, and if I can get it on 360 I save $600!
Kojima: Xbox 360 sucks. MGS4 is designed to make full use of hte PS3.
People: OBVIOUSLY, IT'S COMING TO 360.
I don't trust MGS news that Kojima says "No freaking way" beforehand.

Oh, I know that I was just joking (Knew I should of put after it). It's just that if this is true than it will be a large dent in the PS3's already badly dented armor.
If this is true then I will stop being atheist right away because only God could make something as beautiful as this happen.
First Virtual Fighter 5, perhaps my only other reason to buy a PS3, now this. FFXIII next plz!
BTW what was the excuse for not releasing Snake Eater on the Xbox? Did MGS2 not sell enough on that platform?
Xbox's MGS2 had a lot of problems, it undersold, and a few other things.
Really, I never experienced any problems. I have it on ps2 and X-Box.
Apparently, it was glitchy. Ad slow. Oh so slow.
the only slowdown I'm aware of is due to the runtime script for the rain on the Tanker, which is only like, 5 minutes of the game. And doesn't happen too often anyway. And isn't actually too bad a slowdown.
Wasn't the same problems in the PS2 version of Substance?
MGS2 was on the Xbox?
Why wasn't I informed? D=
I think I'm going to get The Twin Snakes when I go to Gamestop... I'm sightly interested in this series...
Twin Snakes is the way to go! I think that it is better than the original!

Hahaha only God. lol It's madness dude...Sony is getting duped.

Heh as did many, many people. If this ends up being official, lots of people wasted $200...which could definitely cause an uproar all over the planet. It's The Apocolypse I tell you. People've always said technology would destroy us...they probably meant it in a more direct way, but still! =P
The way people are acting, it's as if Sony lost their exclusivity contract.
Those things only last a year, you know. The article says that Xbox may be due to get the game in November 2008 after it's been on the PS3 for a year.
...which basically means that Xbox get the European version of the game, as happened with MGS2 and kinda with 3.
Resident Evil 4 is guilty of the same thing, Nintendo has an exclusive contract with Capcom to for the entire series (I think it's run out now), so when RE4 was released, it was Gamecube exclusive... then a year later after the contract ran out, Sony released an updated version with extra scenes and minigames.
I believe Silent Hill 2 is another case, again with extra scenes and modes, released on the Xbox.
The good thing is that in all cases above, the original console did get the updated version eventually. Even Silent Hill 2, which didn't get an official re-release, but all copies since it went Platinum have had the extra stuff.
Therefore, Xbox and PS3 fanboys rejoice, you get the same stuff.
Sony fans just have to pay for it twice if they want it right away.
Yeah, these days exclusive means 6 months to a year. I don't mind waiting longer anyway, unless it's the Shenmue 3 kind of waiting which is more a cold day in Hell.

I always wanted to play that one, but it was one of those Gamecube games I could never find. Although now I don't care so much, Snake Eater is all one needs.
Kojima's confirmed AGAIN that it's a PS3 exclusive.
Picked up this month's issue of EGM for no real reason.
He'll probably need to do it again in a month.
Then a month later.
Then a month later.
Then...
trust me it won't even stop at release
What happens after release? Will he confirm confirm it's coming to the 360? That would be nice!^_^
At release he'll withdrawl all his claims of it ever coming out at all.
A remastered MGS4 trailer has been released recently in the advent of Metal Gear's 20th Anniversary. There have been slight differences between the 2006 trailer and this one. One of them is that the recent one doesn't contain the PS3 logo.
Dun-dun-dun!
Oh boy. Gotta say though, the new trailer is much more crisp and clear. Quite an improvement. Then again nowadays that could just be a different type television making the difference. lol
Ah, specultation...
I liked the comment I read some where, "Doesn't Konami have better things to do than edit old video?"
Yay, the graphics no longer look like they're drenched in an angry sun.
Now they just look really grey/green and boring.
Realism sucks.

No, no the trailer has changed. Modern day warfare is still pretty much the same.
